As a patron who went there twice a week for a full year with my two little girls it was very disheartening to have to write this. From the beginning there was a lot of bad mouthing from a certain group of women that were making fun of this particular woman. The second incident was when "coach" Alejandra decided to stare me down twice at my children's class. Instead of talking to me about any issues or concerns Issa decided to move her to another class, never addressing me about it. As a business owner myself I know how to respect and communicate with the people that keep my business running. Would have loved my girls to be apart of the team but it doesn't seem that's what they wanted. Wish them the best and acknowledge these types of attitudes will only result in their business being affected. read more

Awesome BJJ academy a few minutes from my house. Issa has a solid background in BJJ, MMA, and Wrestling. He is a great instructor breaking down movements into various pieces to understand the set-up and execution. Class size is anywhere from 6-15 people and Issa is able to ensure he has a watchful eye while drilling to fix technique, even if the class is bigger. When the class is bigger and there are higher belts, he makes sure the less experienced are partnered together and teaches them the basics and teaches the more experience people other moves. You've got to crawl before you can walk. The students are great and friendly, and even the blue and purple belts give you tips. My cousin has been coming here for about a year now and we just moved back to Phoenix this summer from San Diego! My kids are the same age as my cousin, ages 7 and 9 and they started here 2 months ago for the kids class. My kids come 5x a week and I have noticed a huge difference in my kids strength and confidence. Coach Issa is amazing with the kids as is John. They have met many kids from their class that they now consider friends and I am so happy to have like minded, strong, mindful kids they can identify with! During the pandemic coach Issa did online lessons which encouraged the kids to continue with their training even while at home. It's so fantastic because I notice when my kids are stressed from this online school and unenthusiastic before class they always come out energized, fulfilled and with huge smiles on their faces after they leave! Eventually they compete- once they are at a certain level and competitions start again. My kids are huge competitors and thrive off energy and discipline so I am extremely happy my uncle referred me to this gem of a place!! They are extremely clean here and fully clean it after every class. You remove shoes when you walk in, even the parents and you can sit and watch the kids or leave while they are practicing. I have noticed also that my kids balance has improved greatly since coming here! They are better on their skateboards, falling less and injuring themselves less. They specialize in submission wrestling, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and wrestling. So far the techniques they have taught me have been world class and a bit advanced. Although they do have a good variety of beginners so don't be intimidated to visit if you've never tried it. This is especially true if you want to bring your children in to try it out. Learning this martial art could prove to be very valuable to you and your family. The reason that I began martial arts such as jiu jitsu or wrestling was to better myself. I also wanted to learn self discipline and get my energy levels up; Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, wrestling, and submission wrestling has proven to be a perfect way to accomplish this. I was so strong, so athletic, yet Issa the owner and instructor at One Love Grappling whooped my a%# all over the mat every time I rolled with him for years. A little research and you will see Issa Able is a legit black belt with success at the highest level. What is more important in my opinion is the ability to see and teach these techniques, provide the basic jiu-jitsu foundation needed to build upon and create a family like atmosphere where people care about each other, are respectful and train to better each other not to necessarily "never lose". Most people that train jiu-jitsu in Arizona have probably heard of Issa Able and may not care as much about reviews as they will already know to come in. However, if you are new to Brazilian jiu-jitsu, I would encourage you to do your research and check out different schools to see or feel what speaks to you. I would encourage you to hold off on signing up to train somewhere until you have stopped in to One Love Grappling Arts. Also, for most of us, stopping in to a Brazilian jiu-jitsu school for the first time may sound intimidating.
