As I saw pictures being posted there was one photographer who's work always impressed me, KJay Photography. After working with Kim it became apparent why her photos are so amazing. She gets to know her subjects, she provides great suggestions to get the shots you want. She has wonderful locations understands the importance of lighting and works seamlessly and creatively to get hundreds of fabulous shots. After someone posted the link to Carey Primeau's site for Neglected Beauty on yelp, I was…read moredetermined to buy some pictures of these beautifully photographed old buildings. Being from Detroit, I was drawn to the photos of the old Michigan Central Station. The building represents Detroit to me - this amazing building sits there wasted, empty, dirty and decrepit, a shell of it's former self. (Random fact, the old building Shia runs through at the end of Transformers - yep, this is it). So I saved up some money and contacted Carey about the photos. We settled on The Bath House, and a new one taken in Belguim. Once we decided on the photos, Carey was quick with sending an invoice to receive payment via PayPal. A few days later our photos were delivered and we are very happy with them. The two photos were $300 total and very worth it. They are digital prints, printed on quality paper. The color is vibrant and they are every bit as beautiful in person as they are online.

When my high school senior put off photos as long as he could, I chose Carroll Studios to help with my mission of getting these done. Not only did my son enjoy the experience, but he had photos taken with his car--in the snow--that look as though they were taking in the summer with a setting sun. While I questioned the cost of the prints, I found out that these are not your average picture. The larger prints are on a thick, almost cardboard paper that can be used without glass over them. They are absolutely beautiful. I recommend booking early, and then paying in installments or with paypal credit. You won't be disappointed!

My fiance and I booked with Autumn after weeks of searching for a wedding photographer. She was the…read morefirst person we found within our budget who's photography style we loved. Long story short, we did our engagement shoot with her about 5 weeks after initially booking. Leading up to the day she did not respond timely to emails, and only got back to us about the time we were meeting the day of. After the shoot, she told us that we would receive the link to our online gallery within TWO WEEKS. This was also the time frame posted on her website. Three weeks went by without a word from her, so we began emailing. No response. We called her. No response. After nearly 5 weeks we informed her via email that we would be withdrawing our business from her if we didn't receive our photos from her by that Friday. On Friday morning, my finace called the credit card company and disputed the charge that was our payment to her. A few hours later, Autumns husband emailed me with the link to our online gallery and a story about how she hadn't received any emails from us, and that she was up north out of cell phone range. He assured us that she would call sometime that weekend. It has now been another 2 weeks, and we still haven't heard from her. We informed her that we disputed the charge for our initial deposit and that we would not be doing our wedding photography with her. We did manage to download our engagement shoot images, but shortly afterwards the gallery was removed from the internet. Since we did get our photos, I emailed Autumn saying we were willing to work out some small payment. She did not respond. Autumn did capture some beautiful images of my fiance and I, and during the shoot we enjoyed working with her. However, due to the extreme lack of communication and professionalism, we would stronger advise against using her as your photographer. In addition, we now know that she previously had a photography business in Chicago called Autumn Photography. If you visit her yelp page under that name, you will find numerous other stories like ours.
