Breathtaking! If I had to use one word to describe my images. Jen did a storytelling session for us for our second baby. She came to the hospital the day after he was born and was so easy to be around. It felt so comfortable to have her there. She blended right in and we were able to go about enjoying our new little bundle. The day the book arrived in the mail I was so excited I ripped open the package and what I saw was breathtaking. The tears immediately started streaming down my face. These priceless beautiful photos took me right back to that day. Sure he's only 6 months now, but that day seems like a lifetime ago. Those first few days, weeks, sometimes even months, can be so overwhelming and blurry and they go by so so quickly. When I opened the book I was taken right back to that day. This is not a book for me to look at, this is a way for me to feel that beautiful magical moment in my life over and over again. I can smell his sweet skin, hear his newborn cry, and feel his tiny little body on my chest. She also captured my 3 year old coming to visit. Seeing his brother for the first time, and seeing me for the first time in a couple of days. There are photos of me hugging him, him looking at his brother, and playing with the things in the room. Just being so wonderfully 3 years old and taking in this new life of his now as a big brother. This book is a book of me being a mother and becoming a mother for the second time. This, this is a gift. This is a gift every mother should have. Anyone can take a picture of a cute little baby with his bum in the air, or sleeping in a basket. But this is so much more. Jen gave us a time capsule, a moment in our life frozen in time, the real life. These are the moments I want to remember, the moments I will treasure. These are the beautiful moments in my life. I will look at this book every day of my life and I know when I am 80 years old, I will look at this book and I will still be able to feel my sweet, sweet baby's warmth on my chest. I am someone who is very careful and extremely picky when it comes to the services I select and the people that I pay those services for. I have one word for Jen: outstanding! Everything from the initial interaction, to the photo session, to the prints and pricing, to Jen herself exceeded our expectations. Since I could go on about our experience with Jen, I'll hit the highlights: She is just a beautiful soul. Our kids immediately felt comfortable around her and we were able to be ourselves with her around, which is essential to getting good shots. We all were very at ease and natural and I didn't feel the least bit bad that our house wasn't uber clean or that I didn't bother to coordinate clothing--in fact, Jen likes it better that way, and after seeing her work I totally agree. The shots are simply amazing. I can't stop staring at them and obnoxiously showing them to people. Not only are they just wonderful pictures, but Jen is so thoughtful that each shot really does tell a story and the composition of the photos is intriguing at the same time. There's just a lot of depth to her work even though she shoots the everyday. The result is truly awesome pictures that remind you that your daily life is pretty darn spectacular (including those days where you definitely don't think so!). Everything was simple. Setting up the session, preparing for the session (which basically involves waking and getting dressed), participating in the session, reviewing the prints, ordering, and getting the final product was all as easy as it could possibly be. Jen Lucas is a true artist. She came to my home in the fall and did family shots of my daughter, my husband, and me. It is the ONLY time my husband has ever liked pictures of himself, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. She has an eye for emotional detail, and she picked up on things that were important and meaningful to us without me even having to guide her eye there. Everyone who has seen her photos of us has been in awe, including other people in the photography industry. Most of all, she is warm, friendly and fun to work with. Can't recommend enough!!! Jen was so wonderful to work with, and our photos are beyond even our highest expectations. I can't recommend her highly enough! We were new to the area and after consulting with us to figure out exactly what we wanted out of our shoot, she was able to suggest several different sites around Madison that could work for us. We hadn't done a professional photo shoot before and she was able to give us really helpful (but minimal) guidance/instruction to help us get exactly the vibe we wanted. Our family consists of two adults, a very active toddler, and a dog, and she was able to capture all of us perfectly. Jen is absolutely incredible at what she does! I was looking for the perfect person to capture family pictures as a gift for my mom. Jen spent a warm summer's evening wandering with us around the place my daughter loves more than any other-the fields and pastures where her horse spends his days and she spends as many as possible with him. For her senior pictures we hoped to capture some images that would show how she has spent some of her happiest days. In addition we hoped for some images of our entire family-both of our daughters are moving into a stage where it is harder for all of us to be in the same place at the same time. We had been looking for a new photographer for our family after the one we had worked with for a few years moved away. Nothing is better than a killer picture of your kid just being a kid! Jen Lucas gave us pictures that I literally cant stop looking at! She was quickly able to make the whole family feel comfortable and relaxed.
