She knows her field. When you visit town, come in, grab a book from the extensive selection that feels more like a home library than anything else, and maybe have a cup of tea with Ziccardi before heading south on historic route 80 back toward Montgomery.

Half of my cosmology books came from this great little place. The owner keeps Times magazine from past years to let you see what was going on in the world when you were born. Each table is set in a different theme/era, and the music is set by the time (7pm is the 1970s). He takes requests at times. This place has a great atmosphere and is very open to all types of people. It is great to unwind and play borrowed board games and it is great to study quietly in the back. Best place to get away when you're studying.

A book store for book people…read more I love this place so much, i got a ton of clancy novels for cheap here. also lots of books about lgbt and black history (a rarity here) overall if you want books the library wont put out, come here. also this place has a nice selection of small gifts (i bought 2 candles and they were amazing) the staff were always kind and helpful. this place is a beacon in the hellhole of alabama.

I visited for the first time today and was absolutely blown away. From the design of the store to the location, there is so much to love about 1977 books. I've ordered from them online once before, so it was nice to see the shop in real life. I didn't get a chance to take photos of the shop (I was too busy browsing all of the books), but I managed to get a book that had been on my wish list for a while + a cute conversation deck that I plan on using with my loved ones. The volunteer who checked me out was also very kind and wore a mask. Come check it out!

That will serve them well. They are brewing Starbucks, so it's the closest outlet to Cloverdale, I believe. They have a lot of space dedicated to Huntington apparel and gifts. They could really class the place up with Auburn gear. (Kidding- They are owned by Huntington University). They have a drive-through, a reading nook, etc. It's a fully restored cottage in the historic district. Very bright and clean. I'll be back!

It's filled with people who genuinely care about what they do and about their customers. From a great recommendation to a hand-written note, it's the small touches that separate OCBS from the pack. Ol' Curiosities is stationed in Monroeville, the literary capital of Alabama - a place that prides itself on its heritage and local authors. Harper Lee grew up in Monroeville, and used it as a model for Maycomb, the setting of her beloved classic To Kill a Mockingbird. She grew up next door to Truman Capote, whom she used as a model for the character Dill. This rich history permeates Ol' Curiosities and its surroundings. This independent bookstore is definitely worth a visit to find your next great read, a gift for a loved one or a memento from Harper Lee's hometown.
