I recently transferred my son over from Blue Kangaroo South Reno to One World Children's Academy. It is a complete 180! All teachers at one world I feel like truly love their job and it reflects on how they treat your child. I don't think we could possibly be any happier that we chose this facility for our daughter. In fact I'm writing this review because I have been overwhelmed with gratitude lately at the degree to which the women on staff care for our daughter and - bonus - for our family as a whole! I knew the second we toured this facility that our search was over because we immediately got such a great vibe from this center and the staff. It's no small thing to trust someone with your child for 40 hours a week, but we drop our daughter off every day knowing that she will be surrounded by loving, fun and engaging caretakers. When my wife and I were faced with the task of finding a place to trust with our 3 month old son (our first) we toured and interviewed many places before we found One World. We knew this was the right place for our little man after talking with Susan (the owner) and all of the great staff here. He's been in school now for 2 months. It may sound funny calling it school (and not daycare) for a 5 month old but we really feel like he is getting the developmental attention that he deserves. This place has been a great facility and my son LOVES it here! Sometimes when I go to pick him up he doesn't want to leave yet. The teachers are fantastic and come up with so many great activities for the kids. We also love that they offer extracurricular activities at the center during the day. My son especially loves the gymnastics offered. My son is 4 and we just moved here, but were lucky enough to get a spot at One World about 5 months ago and I am forever fortunate we did. I looked at many daycares and I loved the feel of this one, their ethics, the outdoor time, and their focus on health and the environment. The playground outside is fantastic and definitely my sons favorite time of the day. We had to look for a new daycare after Saint Mary's Hospital closed theirs. Our son had gone there since he was 9 months old and it was home to us. We went to another daycare close to the hospital and it was a horrible experience. I guess it really gave us some perspective! Luckily we were referred by a friend to One World. We LOVE One World! We have watched our son blossom and grow. Words can not even express how wonderful Ms. Umparo is. My son is greeted with a hug and a smile every morning here. I am amazed by her patience with every child in the class!!! I know my son is loved and cared for when I am working my long work days! The arts and projects are incredible! They have a wonderful curriculum, including Spanish. I am amazed at what my son is learning. He can tell you who President Abraham Lincoln is, and the difference between an omnivore and carnivore! I feel like this school has more than prepared him for Kindergarten! One World is open only from 6:45 am to 6 pm and that has been the one major downfall for our family because we work long hours. We have now been at One World for over 2 years and I am just getting around to posting another review. Wow how time flies! I absolutely love the director, assistant directors and all staff! My daughter has learned so much since being there. She is constantly coming home singing new songs, counting, knowing different colors, shapes and letters! They have a very good schedule and structure, which my daughter does very well with. They get outside time, music time, story time, arts & crafts time, nap time, etc. They have been great about transitioning her to different classes, so it's not at traumatic and she's actually excited to move up! I love that they offer a preschool program here, but begin on all of these tasks as early as the infant class! They are very involved with the community. They are constantly participating in food drives, adopt a child for Christmas, etc. There have not been many issues since I we have been there, but if there are any concerns they are more than happy to discuss them with you and help come up with solutions. Overall, i love this school and I am so happy we found them. My daughter loves her teachers and her friends! read more

There aren't enough words in the universe to describe how wonderful One World has been to me and my family. Both of my boys have attended and we as a family have been there for about 4 years. The teachers are like family. I couldn't ask for better care. When it comes to discipline (which all kids need in their lives) they are very explanatory. They sit the child down, explain to them what they did wrong, why it was wrong, and what they should do next time. Then they explain to you as a parent what happened. They never talk down to my children. My boys have always felt just as loved there as they do in our home. The staff there is very caring and flexible to your child's needs and your schedule. Without fail, they have always accommodated us when my husband has to work an extra shift, or if we have a family emergency. My kids come home exhausted, excited about what they learned, and have played their hearts out. What could go wrong... Did. So the daycare sold; and still things seemed fine. The art program was cut back- but really how much holiday creation does a three year old do? But my child was not always wanting group activities. He was a loner in the play yard. And he didn't want to be pressed into memorizing his letters. When other kids were too close to him he might hit (the language of a three year old who doesn't have the words to say your crowding me). We were brought in to talk about all his issues and the term Autistic came up. They tested his alphabet, numbers, drawing a self portrait, etc and he failed. He knew X marks the spot and he knew the first letter of his name. He refused to draw the portrait. He was barely three and my child failed his first exam. Meeting again, they suggested social services get involved to access the autism. This is a very affectionate boy who wanted to be in his teachers laps during story time because he was the child who would sit through the whole story. He loves to talk and act and is very outgoing. I thought it was ridiculous. My husband got online and took the questionaire on a website for parents of autistic children, he got a ZERO percent chance of our son being autistic. Still we were pressed- some other behavioral issue must be at hand. I faced the fact they just did not want him there and removed him. We've been a year at Nevada Sage Ridge Waldorf and he is a star pupil in the Kindergarden program. He's helpful. He plays by himself often, with friends at other times. He tells me stories that he makes up. He cooks at school and at home. He is engaged and his teacher tells me how absolutely creatively he looks at ideas; that he asks questions about things and observes things that his peers miss. I am sad our experience with One World ended so badly. Met up with one of his old teachers there last week. She had left as well as a large part of the teaching staff she said. She hadn't been his teacher at the end and she didn't know his story. I started it and she cut me off- she said they probably told you he was autistic huh! So grateful for Waldorf- the education that allows my son to be a kid and gives him helpful nurturing teachers. read more

So blessed to have found a place that my child loves. He loves his teachers and talks about them at home. The staff is very friendly and caring about my child. He has eczema and often gets the "itchies", they are sure to give him tlc that makes all the difference. My 3 year old son has been going to One World for 2+ years and it is by far his favorite place! He started off at a year and a half and was in the Tiger's class where Ms. Jessica and Ms. Tippy (Tiffany) were his teacher's, Ms. Jessica had been his teacher at a previous school so that made the transition very easy and comfortable. They have a hands on approach with the kids, especially at ages when kids are starting to understand and explore senses. Ms. Jessica is often referred to as the Potty Training Queen! No Joke, she has earned it. In this class they begin the potty training process which was super helpful to me as a first time mom, having someone else assist me with the structure of potty training. The school isn't forceful with their approach with the parents and the children, but being able to talk to them (her) about techniques made it more successful both at school and at home. When he turned 2 he moved into the Panda Class which is Ms. Sara(h) and Ms. Miranda who are kids at heart (in a respectful way). They genuinely enjoy the children they teach, and you can tell that your kid connects with them when you walk in and they would rather finish playing a game or listening to a story they are reading vs going home right away. Then there is the Koala class with Ms. Lourdes and Ms. Amparo! Ms. Amparo is bi-lingual and offers a Spanish class to her students which we happily signed up for. It is a cost separate from the Tuition but when your kid comes home knowing sentences, songs and is enthusiastic about it, you'll love it. Brenden would sit next to her at lunch as proceed to ask her what everything in his lunchbox was in Spanish, or even at home he'd ask what something was and he would rush into school the following morning to ask her. It's great that he is not only learning it but retaining Spanish. The curriculum is broken up into different categories: Art, Literature, Math, Science, Sensory, Social Studies, Fine Motor, Writing, Movement depending on their classes. At the beginning of the month the staff sends out an email with the monthly updates that show a monthly calendar for all classes, a snack calendar. Both are extremely helpful. Nothing use to irritate me more than when I would pack a lunch for my son that had a food in it that he would have for one of the two snacks that day. Seems minor, I know but the snack calendar was super helpful and very much appreciated (at least by me!) The monthly calendar shows a specific breakdown of what your kid will be learning on what days. Which is great because then you know what you can help with or assist your child with once they are home. It also helps you as a parent focus on realistic expectations of your child based on their age group and development. The email also contains Monthly themes, activities (both in and out of school), etc. They do a lot of activities with our kiddos and happily capture it on camera (with parental consent of course) and I love it, whether it's field trips, pumpkin patch visits, Trick or Treating, Summer BBQ's or science fun, it's great to see candid's of the kids while we are at work. In the summer months they do Summer BBQ's once (or twice) a month and you can sign your kid up to enjoy a nice little picnic outside in which the school will grill up some hot dogs, cut up some fruit, and pass out some chips. They also have Pizza Day. What kid doesn't love Pizza?! The last Friday of the month ( excluding Holidays), you may also sign your kiddo up to receive a pizza lunch. Sometimes I don't know if it's more for me in which I have one day where there is one less lunch to make in the morning, but Brenden loves it either way. Also during the summer months the kids can do water day. No risk of drowning, it's sprinkler fun, water tables, buckets of water etc and allows for relief from the summer heat. They even change them into dry clothes afterwards (winning!) Bike Day: As long as you provide a helmet, your kid can participate. Whether they bring their own bike, scooter, etc or they use one of the many bikes, trikes, around the school this is an awesome way to get the kids to burn some energy. The parking lot is physically blocked off by employees cars so that there is no way of incident. There's no way for me to emphasize how safe they make it for our kids---trust me, your kids will have a blast and it is a safe environment!!! The classes also partake in gardening. Age appropriate, whether it's watering plants, planting flowers, tending to the garden in the back play ground, it's a great introduction for these kids and we all know kids like to get down and dirty. The playground was gone through several changes which we first got there, it's awesome to see them updating and maintaining the equipment for our kiddos to enjoy. There are 2 separate playgrounds that allow the little ones to play without getting trampled by the big kids. It's affordable and academic based daycare that we are lucky to be a part of! My son started going to One world when he was 2 and it was a rough transition at first because he was always home with me before that. The entire staff at One world were so kind in the transition and so patient with my son and even me as his mom during the process of separation anxiety. My son graduated from preschool at one world and is beyond prepared for kindergarten because of the incredible teachers at this school. Having worked at preschools personally I was so hesitant to put my son in preschool but One world has beyond exceeded my expectations for a school for any child. They are loving, patient, and work through issues with families and children to their fullest extent possible. I love the staff at one world and my son has had the best preschool experience any parent could hope for because of this school! read more

My 2 year old daughter has attended One World since she was 8 weeks old and she absolutely loves school. She only attends part time, but when she's there she gets to play and make art, on of her FAVORITE activities and she loves her friends and teachers. I moved my daughter here from another daycare about a year ago and couldn't be happier. I have been extremely pleased with One World. The staff is so friendly and they are great with my daughter. All of the staff knows her by name and they always make a point to talk to me and tell me how she is doing. Our daughter has been going to One World since she was an infant and we have enjoyed every minute. The daycare center is clean and safe, the curriculum is fun for the kiddos, and the staff clearly cares about our little girl. We take our two year old daughter here and they have been fantastic. We visited many of the other schools and even though this is significantly further away we decided on this on. We had a great recommendation and we could see the care the teachers have for the children - they were the only ones we saw to hold the children when they wanted it as part of the day. It was definitely the right decision. Our daughter had separation anxieties with crying and not wanting us to leave initially but she has got over these very fast. The teachers have been a huge part of giving her the attention and positive energy she needs to get her over this. Susan is also great and you can see how much the children like her and even her daughter. She has been a sounding board for me and my wife on childcare issues even at home. I love this preschool. Both my 3 year old and 3 month old attend this school. The teachers in the baby room are very supportive of breastfeeding, which is very important to me. They are amazing with these babies and I feel totally comfortable leaving my baby with them. Plus, they are always doing such fun projects My 3 year old has been attending this school since he was 15 months. He loves going to school. Yes, it is a school, he has learned so much. His teachers are all amazing. The are great at communication and letting me know what's up. They also have a great curriculm. I am really happy that they teach the kids about recycling. We visited and interviewed several schools (Goddard, Blue Kangaroo, etc.) before selecting One World. We peppered them with questions and visited three times before enrolling. Our daughter attends part-time and absolutely loves it. The teachers and staff are excellent -- consistently caring, positive, and warm with the children. I had to pull my son from this school due to bullying. The owner was hostile when the problem was brought to her attention. The staff turn over rate is very high and the quality of staff coming in has gone way down over the past year. The employees are afraid of the owner and stories of what happens with your child during the day change depending on who you are talking to. Very bad experience. read more

We have been attending One World for nearly 3 years. Both of my children love the teachers and staff and they come home smiling every day. I originally found One World via Yelp and I'm happy I did because I'm so thankful they have been helping to raise my children. They help mother the kids, teach them manners, potty train, teach the kids to share, and they genuinely love each and every child there. I buy gifts for the teachers for Christmas every year, and I think if I had unlimited funds, I would buy them gifts every week. Their mothering advice is so valuable and they are non-judgmental to new parents and struggling parents. When I call and tell them I'm on my way, they get my kids ready with their belongings packed so I can get the kids and get out quickly. The owner is very personable as well as every staff member. I really am thankful for this daycare and the people who do their job so well so I don't worry at all when I'm at work. read more
