All I had to do was supply them with a vector illustrator file of what I wanted laser cut and that was it, so easy. He told me the job would be an hour and that it costs $20 an hour to hire the machine and a technician. I thought this was really good value especially if I was going to get a crisp and clean result without any hassle. I went to a cafe down the road whilst I waited and I went back about 50 mins later. My job was already completed which was great I thought because then it would cost less that $20. When I went to pay he said it would be $40!!?? I asked why and he said it was because he used two machines for an hour so it would be twice the price. I thought this was incredibly sneaky as he had originally quoted 1hr at $20, anyway I couldn't be bothered arguing as I was running out of time for my deadline so I went to pay with my Eftpos card. He then told me that they don't accept Eftpos so I would need to go and get some money out!!?? I was so annoyed because I had been hanging around for an hour waiting for them to finish so I could easily have gone and got some if he had only told me before. I had to drive for ages to find the nearest one which was such a waste of time, I already had my laser cut files so I could have been dishonest and not gone back (believe me I was tempted) but I went back and paid him. It was so gutting that this happened because the actual job itself was amazing, beautifully laser cut and just what I had asked for.

Initially you have a meeting with them to discuss the result you are looking for, then you choose your binding style and cloth for the outside and that's it, you leave the rest up to them! The turnaround for me was about a week, which is totally understandable when you hold the end product in your hands and see the quality of the construction. All of their books are hand sewn and constructed and you do pay for this, but if you value what you are getting bound, then the money is absolutely worth it.
