I wish I read these yelp reviews before getting suckered in. I completely agree with Kevin and Doug. It is a sales pitch. They really play with your emotions over the three day class. And when you say you cannot afford the courses they pitch you, they insist you can by resorting to your assets and or line of credit. Save your money, time and energy. Even if you have the money, time or energy. Who in their right mind would drop 20-40k just to copy someone. Absolutely ridiculous Also check out reviews from other campuses. read more

Online Trading Academy makes all kinds of promises. However, it is nothing but a sales gimmick and pressure to buy, just like going to a time share event. Attended the three hour free seminar. It turns out to be nothing but pressure to sign up for their three day seminar. The three day seminar is nothing but pressure to buy into the courses. Once you pay 300 for the three day seminar. You get homework, which is basically information about your assets. They want to know your financial information. At the three day seminar you are constantly bombarded to buy into their courses. The education counsellors are nothing but sales sharks putting guilt trips to buy. The courses are very expensive from 27000, 34000, 41000 and 59000. All the employees say they trade, then why work weekends and evenings. Stay away from them read more

Smells like a scam to me. I bought the course 1 package but I have a really busy schedule. They are not flexible at all and will not allow me to start the course unless I do the 1.5 hour "coaching session" where we go over my goals and plan of action. I emailed and spoke to Leighton several times offering a phone interview. When I explained to him that I had a tight budget and wasn't interested in spending lots of money on trading I just wanted to learn the basics, and I wasn't sure what we would talk about for 1.5 hours he seemed uninterested and told me to call back when I have more time. I feel like they want to sucker people into giving them lots of money. It feels like a pyramid scam to me, my instinct is stay away!!! read more

The course is quite rigid and Steve is a seasoned trader who can teach you well about how to handle different situations. Personally I think that I learned what I intend to learn. However, the trading experience and/or trading lifestyle may be different from what I thought before I joined this course. Based on the practice in the class, patience will play an very important role in the trading. However, this may be my personal weakness. So I will practise more trading in the next several weeks and try to figure out what is the right way for me to do it. A lot of things need to be tried before I can really start my trading. I came to OTA (Online Trading Academy) 3 years ago to learn trading. My view is that one needs quality education to navigate the dangerous waters of the trading world. I have learned from professional traders who are successful, and can teach and willing to help and share their experience - which is a very rare combination. I have pitfalls in the 3 years, but overall was successful, with my broker's statement to prove it. OTA also has a full time "student specialist" who acts like a kind of student advocate that looks after your interest. He is a former student and understands what we need. On-line time-share academy. Day 2 of lunch was ok. The 3 day course was a sales pitch. No skills were passed on. There were a lot of threats that if you didn't follow the program then they don't want you at the academy. Oh-no. The base package is $27000 and the high end package is $60000. I am sure they want you. Funny that they don't tell you these insane, uncredited course fees in the free 1/2 day waste of time intro. The so-called, instructors and education counsellors do not look that happy. Don't be a dumb-ass like I was. Save your $300.... complete waste of time. When I initially thought I was interested in learning how to trade (specifically futures and options) the google search I did was overwhelming. There are hundreds/thousands of choices for education and I had no idea how to evaluate the quality of one organization over another. Most were 100% online, but OTA did have a physical location in Toronto. That got my attention. It seemed to speak of it having some commitment to the education process. Why else lease a large amount of space and invest in the space? So, I signed up for the initial 3 hour information session and then the 3 day market timing seminar. I was very sceptical and prepared for a "hard sell". I was fairly certain I was at high risk of being ripped off for a lot of money from another online scam. I assured my wife I would not agree to anything without speaking to her as I needed her objectiveness to assess this. That "hard sell" never came. Just a confident presentation that there was a real opportunity to change my life financially and with time freedom. After spending some time with the instructors and staff at OTA and going through these initial courses, I came to the strong conclusion that these people, were not trying to rip me off. They were truly interested in helping people. Helping me. They were quality people, sharing a great deal of information at a very reasonable initial fee. To be fair, they have a hard selling process to overcome. In a very short amount of time, they are asking for a very large financial and time commitment from someone. Probably a larger financial commitment for extending learning than anyone had ever considered. Certainly it was larger than I ever considered. What made me decide to move forward? The quality of the instructors and staff, the physical location, the large amount of in person education, the huge amount of online support after the in class session and the apparent quality of everything all translated into my assessment that I was going to be receiving fair value for the fees I was asking to pay. I admit, there was a leap of faith and a lot of hope that I wasn't making a mistake when I signed up. Now that I have completed the core strategy and my first asset class (second asset class to be taken in another month) I feel lucky to have met OTA and believe I have already received great value. I will be starting to trade shortly and time will tell if I will be successful or not. I am very optimistic through as OTA is behind me, I truly believe the instructors and staff want me to succeed and there is almost endless amounts of online and in person support to get me on track and keep me there. I am now part of a trading community that are all trying to succeed with this and are happy to share knowledge. I need to crawl before I walk and walk before I run, but my goal now is eventually pursue this full time. I will keep in touch and let you know how I am doing. I've been an OTA student since 2010 (I'm in Toronto, Ontario, pls ignore my incorrect profile) . OTA truly "teaches you how to fish" and not just hand you the fish like every other market financial schools out there. OTA is better than all others because they really care about your success and does not sell you a product that you have to keep on paying (subscription) monthly. Those other workshops wants you to keep on paying so they get richer every month. OTA method is based on price alone. Demand and Supply. No lagging indicators, moving averages, etc. We do look at those things, but only to see what the herds are doing so we can do the opposite. Demand and supply is the true reason why prices move. And the beauty is, it works with everything (Stocks, futures, forex....) Everything in OTA is pay once, life time free re-takes which is vital. You get to learn from different instructors (see their website on how many there are) and at different times. 2000, 2008, 2015. I've taken the 7 day stock course 3 times, 5 day options course twice, each time learning more and more from different instructors. Now OTA even has recorded online courses so I can attend and watch the same course taught by instructors in USA. In the comfort of my own home and my own time. Their online XLT program is also amazing. 3, two hour sessions live every week (for each asset class), plus Hour with the Pros, General sessions, Pro-picks, everything is recorded for viewing later. Literally tens of thousands of hours of knowledge waiting for you to learn from. During online sessions, there are 400+ students attending watching the instructor teach. As they taught us, first you are consistently losing, then you improve to consistently break-even, then consistently profiting. I'm now at the beginning to be consistently profiting stage. I had double digit returns for the last few years, even when the market was negative return last year. You do need to do your work, nothing good comes easy. The immediate benefit even as a newbie is, you know "what NOT to buy/sell". That alone is an invaluable skill. I see the trades of my friends and know immediately that was a bad idea. Since every course and online access is pay ONCE, its obvious you'd have to charge a higher fee. Rest assured, I have made back all my previously spent course fees and more. Like many students have. Anyone that hasn't simply needs to work harder and follow what was taught. Anytime you failed, you can easily pin point it was actually your own fault at not following a certain rule. As a newbie that joined OTA and now a more experienced, i can confidently say, If there are bad reviews out there that say OTA is a scam, then they either didn't follow the rules OTA taught us on how to trade or they are lying that they were ever a student. I've referred 5 friends to the basic course and all of them did not regret taking it. Many are continuing to more courses. OTA changed my life and my family's financial life. It deserves a 5 star, but everything can be improved and OTA is improving constantly. Rolling out new revised Options programs, Mastermind communities. Give it a shot, it will change your life. As I always tell my friends, OTA is a real office (many around the world), so if you really don't believe them, go there and ask them to their face. Before going to Online Trading Academy, I knew nothing about trading. OTA has opened up a whole new world of possibilities to me. They teach you the basic in their core strategy class, which give you a foundation to move onto other asset classes (stocks, ETF's, futures, forex, options, real estate). They teach you various ways of making money depending on your financial need (income vs. wealth management). OTA has more interests in your success than any other schools I've ever encountered. They deliver both on-location and online classes as well as learning labs, extended learning sessions, etc. to make sure those who are willing to make the effort to learn get the most out of their education. They also have their own dedicated team of support and lots of financial and trading articles on their site.
