This is a much-needed rest stop for people traveling on the 401. It's much cleaner, more spacious, and better-maintained than many others you may come across. The selection of restaurants is not much to gawk at. Timmies is the most popular one, as it had a horrendously long line during lunch hour on a busy long weekend. A&W is comparatively better, and Starbucks outside is also an option if you want drinks. From my experience, these restaurants run out of stock on several products on occasion. The market usually marks up just about everything offered. Unless you need to get something out of convenience, I wouldn't buy anything here. You can also refuel your vehicle here. Overall, if you're looking for somewhere to rest or fuel up, this is a good spot. read more

The convenience store was missing many of the essential goods. They said they sold out. Service at Tim Hortons and A&W was just bad - they simply didn't care. You might as well stop at a nearby town and go to a fast food place for food & washroom, avoid this hectic madness place. Felt like you are at an unfriendly airport. read more

This was the pit stop for our drive from Montreal to Toronto. We don't have service plazas like this in California. With one stop, you can get a Canadian fast food meal at A&W Freshii or Tim Hortons. They also have a Subway for sandwiches or Starbucks for coffee. The restroom were clean. My wife would've yelled at me for stopping here if the restrooms were filthy. It was a busy place. I spent more time at this rest stop, simply because I was hungry driving home from Montreal. I needed to eat. This rest stop is clean. I parked and walked in. I grabbed a mozza burger from A&W, sat down, and ate. As usual, Tim Horton's had an insanely long lineup. The food was okay. It's what you'd expect from the chain. I also got fries and a diet root beer. Your order is ready when your number is called out. The washrooms are clean. No complaints there. My beef (no pun intended, since I got a burger) here was the jerk who parked his car so close to mine. I was inspecting whether he had dinged my car once I got out there. I have a car that is half a year old. His car must have been at least 15 years old. When I mean close, I mean roughly a foot or less. The owner of this car saw what I was doing and said, "Sorry, the car next to me made me park this way." Look, this place had well over 100 parking spots. There must be 30 people, tops. You clearly were not forced to park so close to my car. He asked whether I could get into my car. I didn't take that as an insult. I could with care. Likewise, he could, too. I was thinking that if I were the person I was five years ago who weighed 60 pounds more, I may have resorted to crawling into my car through the passenger side. Respect, folks. I stopped into this rest stop before crossing the border into the States. I was on my way back home from Ottawa. The rest stop was pretty large. There are a bunch of food chain counters, but you could also get something to eat at the market (I picked up trail mix, nuts, and a sandwich there). You have ample seating by these huge windows, and the bathrooms were clean. Good stop if you are on a road trip driving through Ontario. read more

Mallorytown OnRoute#1171, Mallorytown, ON, Canada. On our way back from Quebec City on 7/9/17, we stopped at this OnRoute station for filling the car up with fuel and taking a break from driving. This was a safe place to use the washrooms and checking out the snacks. Traveling on the major highways is always stressful and having the OnRoutes spaced at convenient distances makes the road trip much easier to cope with. Another great stop to rest, and come to think of it, the OnRoute rest stops are so much better than the ones we saw in Quebec Province. read more

On Monday, September 7th, my friends and I stopped at Mallorytown Plaza, which is a part of a OnRoute service station, to refill the car and grab a bite to eat on our way from Montreal to Toronto. There was a huge lineup for every venue, except for Brioche Doree bakery. Very soon I've realized why. As I came to order three small soups and four sandwiches, I've realized that they only have one size, and it's large (CAD$ 5.99 each). I was charged for them with no explanation and was told I have to pay because that's what I've ordered. My bill came up to CAD$ 76. When I asked why it's so much, I was told that they have only one size soup, and that "sandwiches are CAD$11 each, what do you expect?" When I suggested that the girl at the cash should probably change her attitude towards guests, who are paying close to CAD$100 for fast food, she replied that "it's not her problem and I can go somewhere else" Adding that I can "go f..k myself" and that I am rude to her. She never gave me a receipt, just a printout of my order. When I asked for my receipt, she dove into the garbage (!!!!!) right in front of me, fishing out my POS receipt and literally throwing it to my face. At this point I was mad beyond belief, and we had a 7 year old with us, she was swearing at me in his presence. I requested to speak with the manager, she threw another insult in my face "I don't have to take your sh..t" and disappeared. I found a lady with your company's name tag, unfortunately I don't recall her name, and described her the situation. She replied that "she has been dealing with that FOR ENTIRE WEEKEND (!!!!)" and that I need to speak to head manager. She then went away and returned with the head manager, who listened to my complaints carefully, but made no attempt to remedy the situation. The girl that was extremely rude to me was hiding in the kitchen the whole time. As we settled at the table, I've realized that our sandwiches were all cold, despite my request to toast them. The only thing that was ok was the soup (which would cost me same money if not less in a good restaurant). I don't mind paying for good food or exceptional service. But I refuse to be treated like dirt, especially in front of a child. The situation had to be remedied right there and then, instead we left very disappointed AND it cost me CAD$ 76. read more

We occasionally need to travel the 401 corridor to visit family, and I was so excited that they were revamping these pit stops on the way to Toronto, and couldn't wait to visit them to see what they had done! The first time or two that we did drop in, we were not disappointed - they are large, clean, and bright, and give you enough choices to get in, do what you need to do, and get back out there to hit the road again. Unfortunately, this visit was waaaay disappointing because of the prices! First of all, we passed 3 of these places which consistently had the most expensive gas prices of anywhere on the road - $1.33! This was about 5 cents more expensive than everywhere else and many places were offering cheaper if you were willing to leave the highway for a spell to get it (thanks to the "Gas Buddy" app!). Not impressed with the prices here! Inside, there was a shop selling bags of chips and cold drinks and so on (typical road food), and for restaurants there was a Tim Horton's, an A&W and one other place which offered a variety of lovely sandwhiches on artisan bread, which was more tempting as road food than sweets were to me. It didn't register at the time, but the Tim Horton's had a line up, and the A&W had 2 or 3 people lined up, but nobody was at the sandwhich bar. My +1 lined up for coffee, and I ordered a couple of sammies to go. These could be custom orderd to taste, which is a great feature. However, the clerk didn't make it in front of me - she did it in the kitchen in back. My shock was that the 2 sandwiches came to nearly $20.00! I expected to pay no more than $12 for the two. What a shock! Yes, I should have checked before ordering and asking her to heat them for us. And I must concede that the sandwiches were delicious, the bread was just the right crusty sort of Italian or French je ne sais quoi. But not worth nearly $10 each! Buyer beware. This place is MUCH better than the old rest station, so in that regard, I'm thrilled. The building itself is really great - bright, open, airy, and well laid out with plenty of seating, it definitely makes you feel relaxed. I actually even sat down to eat my lunch instead of grabbing it and taking it to eat in the car because it felt so welcoming! The washrooms were very clean which was nice, and there were tons of stalls so no waiting (always an issue at rest stops, right ladies?!). There's not a ton of options here, but it was alright. They have a Tim Horton's, A&W, a marketplace with snacks and magazines and such. I needed to pick up some Advil here, and they had it, which was great. They also have a bit of fresh fruit, yogurt and a few other healthy snacking options. I didn't notice until I had already paid that there's a small Kawartha Dairy ice cream cart! It's probably a good thing I didn't see it or I totally would have indulged! There's also the gourmet sandwich and bakery spot that Jana mentioned, which looked like a yummy, if expensive option. The building is LEED certified so it's environmentally friendly as well, which is nice. As Jana mentioned, the gas price here was much higher than any other place on the way (unless you veer off the highway), but I needed to fill up, so I did at 1.33. read more

Only tim hortons and a&w at this onroute location, and the tim's has a limited menu. The place was jam packed because it was a holiday, and tim's was sold out of almost all their few limited items. I settled for a turkey chipotle sandwich, which turned out to be a cold prepackaged disappointment. At least it was fast - my sons waited 45 minutes for their order at a&w to be prepared. read more

The rest stop itself was unremarkable... however, it has a gorgeous seasonal picnic area, which no-one is using because there is NO signage, no highway sign and it is not easy to find the entrance. Why are the operators of this stop trying so hard to conceal the picnic area? Are they trying to sell more crap food at the fast food stores and discourage people from bringing their own? Please, put a picnic table sign on the highway and then have signage to the picnic area once you enter the rest stop. I found it because I spotted the tables form the highway, but I had to go through the truck parking to access it. read more
