Tim Hortons, Starbucks, Wendy's & market are at this OnRoute location. I had a roast beef sandwich from Tim Horton's & a thirst quencher. The sandwich was fine & they handled my modifications well. Hubby ordered a peach thirst quencher for me after had the sandwich & it tasted horrible! Hubby tasted it & he said they didn't mix it. He drank half of it & then we ended up tossing it. I hate to waste any food but I just couldn't drink it. Other than that the rest-stop eating area was clean. The washrooms are clean as well. No healthy options here, just fast food. It's too bad they didn't at least have a healthy option like booster juice. I know there's salads at some of these fast food places but they're not my definition of healthy. More like they are the healthiest option that a fast food joint can have. The bar is set low. lol. Anyway plenty of parking here for cars, tour buses & truckers too. Not a place I'd normally visit but it fulfills its function. read more

This ON route is accessible to those travelling westbound along the 401. They have a Wendy's, a Starbucks, ON route market, as well as Tim Hortons. Washrooms are reasonably clean. At the time of our visit, they did not have a gas station available, which is currently under construction. read more

If you're going westbound this is the last rest stop before you hit Toronto. It's a bit bigger than other rest stops along the 401 to the east of it (e.g. Trenton, Napanee, Mallory town, etc.). The WiFi here actually works unlike the aforementioned ones. It's big and clean and is the one that I usually stop at when travelling to Toronto from Ottawa. read more

I'm sort of sitting on the fence as to whether this is a 3- or 4-star; would probably be a 3 1/2 if only I could choose that. Good things about this: - Great to have a much needed pit stop ;-O - Great place to "rent a coffee" (just like beer, coffee goes in one end and out the other LOL!) - Now there are a few choices for food and coffee, and it's great to have a seat while you eat. After all, eating while you drive is called "distracted driving". Ok, it makes sense. Funny thing(s): - Although there are both a Tim Horton's and a Starbucks, I could NOT believe the LOOOOONG lineup at the Timmies! Not a wonder, with RRooollll up the rim still on, but MAN oh man - there were about 4 or 5 times the number of people in the TH lineup! I will likely be back, as the need crops up. read more

This is for the Esso gas bar only. Not the main food/store building. Last Friday I had to make a trip to Kingston from Uxbridge. On the return trip, I had the misfortune of stopping at this Onroute location for gas. It was pouring rain, windy and cold. Not a great day to start with. Wind was blowing the rain under the pump canopy. I pulled up on the right side of the second pump island from the south (ie: I was not in an outside lane where the attendant can't see the pumps), got out, put my coat on, opened the filler, inserted the nozzle and pushed the button for regular. After standing in the cold and rain for SEVERAL minutes waiting for the pump to activate I finally hear gibberish from the intercom. I said I can't hear you... "THIS PUMP PREPAY ONLY". It wasn't an outside lane.... I could see the guy inside at the window.. No sign on ANY pump saying you have to prepay. At 70, I'm not walking in cold and rain more than I have to, let alone making 2 trips to the cashier and two opportunities to be exposed to Covid-19. FWIW, I'm a senior, and I was filling an almost new Acura RDX. Prejudice? (Coat was a hoodie but I'm not black.) Needless to say, I put the nozzle back and left. These stations are there for CONVENIENCE and you pay for it in much higher priced gas than if you get off the 401 and fill up at any of the stations at the bottom of the off ramps. So I went to the Liberty St. exit, pulled off and filled up at the Pioneer station. No prepay. No BS. And 6¢/L cheaper. read more

Wendy's is so stupid. I am so mad. Watched the 10 people behind me in line get served with their HUGE meals while I waited for my three small things. Also they put ketchup on my no ketchup burger to spite us for asking why a salad and two sandwiches was taking three hours. read more

as far as rest stops, gas stations, and coffee goes, this place is always clean, always busy, and probably your last change to get a decent coffee for the next hour. But then again, I'm always a fan of Onroute read more

"If you are reading this it's too late" -Drake. These were definitely NOT my exact thoughts when I saw the Port Hope OnRoute sign on the 401. The second I walked in, I was greeted with open arms to the OnRoute family. The people were friendly, the washrooms passed the "white glove test" (if you know what I mean ;) ). I'd also be lying if I told you the double double I got from Timmies (Tim Hortons) was literally divine. One time my dad beat me with jumper cables. I'm very thankful for this OnRoute experience and I would recommend this to a friend! read more
