Grateful to have these rest stops along the highway, for the much needed stretch of the legs, bathroom breaks, and coffee refills. This location like so many others, is very, very busy. The one odd thing about this location is that there is a Starbucks inside as well as a stand alone outside. But the outside one is literally drive through or take out only; there is no seating inside whatsoever. In fact, you cannot go in here! We didn't try the outside location. You know what? For safety's sake it's better inside to see all the people and be seen, than to sulk around the outside. It was spooky to me! This OnRoute has a small market (drinks, chips, other snacks), a Tim Horton's, Booster Juice, Burger King, Popeyes, & Starbucks. At lease there is one healthy option here! The rest is fast food. I will say this though the eating area is clean & the washrooms are clean as well. It looks pretty new so there's nothing old that needs renovation. It's a well maintained place. That's basically all you could want for a highway rest-stop. read more

I love ONroutes for their convenience of barely having to pull off the highway and then always having a very clean place to use the washroom and a few food options to choose from. Of course getting gas is a major reason for pulling off the highway and from my experience usually their rate was very similar to what would be in town. However, I pulled into this stop running on fumes and then ran into the price per litre that was at least 5c more than local places. I had to eat the cost but this is my first experience paying a very noticeable premium at an ONroute. I hope it was just a one-off with this place, but if that becomes the norm moving forward I'll simply drive the extra minute to go somewhere else and save a few bucks. read more

Stopped in for Popeyes. they DIDN'T HAVE ANY chicken pieces. Just sandwiches and nuggets! This isn't the first time this has happened at an Ontario OnRoute service plazas. I've had Burger Kings run out of burgers and Tim Hortons run out of donuts and bagels! I know they're convenient, but they're grossly overpriced and there's no guarantee that the "restaurant" will even be open! If you're driving a car, save some money and get off the highway for your food. Less chance of being disappointed. read more

ONroute Port Hope is actually a bit west of Port Hope closer to Newtonville east bound on the 401 (south side). This is your first on highway rest stop eastbound after leaving Oshawa. If you need a restroom without having to get off the highway, this is your place. Burger King, not a fan so I won't eat here. Timmy's? I'd rather have a Starbucks if I'm going to have a coffee but sure Tim's is cheaper. It's not often I see rest stops with this many places that serve coffee and breakfast. Choice is better than no choice. If you're looking for better burgers keep going east until you see an ONroute with an A&W :) This stop is really well kept and looks brand spanking new. read more

This place had THE MOST disgusting bathroom I've ever experienced at an on route. There were literally food bags of garbage in the bathroom stalls. Water all over the floors, the toilets looked like the aftermath of the apocalypse. read more

ONroute Port Hope is my favourite highway pitstop I have been to. Clean, Spacious with plenty of seating. I just love those armchairs.... Washrooms exceptionally clean and plenty. Starbucks?!!! Need I say more, but Tim Hortons opens 24 hours. Wifi, great for travellers. I am afraid to stopover here, because I might end up forgot I need to move on and be somewhere else! read more

The Tom Hortons is the worst drive through I've ever been through. I ordered three toasted bagels with butter and cream cheese. Two bagels had virtually no cream cheese. They couldn't have put less and still claimed there was some on them. The other bagel had something green on it. Inedible! read more

While driving from Jungle Cat World to Sainte Anne's Spa, I decided to stop off at this OnRoute located in Port Hope. Inside, they have a variety of shops and stores including Tim Horton's, Starbucks, Pinkberry and a shop to get magazines, snacks and other simple needs. I went to both Tim Horton's and Pinkberry. This OnRoute has a large area to sit at. They even have large lounge chairs around a coffee table to sit at. They even had a large overhead monitor that provided you with information about weather, news and sports! It even had a segment devoted towards trivia. They also have a large parking lot and outdoor seating. While I did have many positives, I did have some minor concerns. For example, their bathrooms was large, but half of the sinks were broken so it was pretty chaotic. Also, they had wifi, but it did not work. Even worse, you could not get a connection from this place using your data. Right next door, they also have a large, clean gas station that is connected to a convenience store. BRUTAL. misleading signs (there is no freshii) and a RIDICULOUS new non-system for ordering that makes little sense. lastly, burger king does NOT sell the veggie burger they say they do. we left hungry and annoyed. whoever runs this place should be fired. We stopped here to fill up and ended up breaking down on the 401. The Jeep dealership informed us the gas was bad! Not only did we pay for towing and repairs to fix the issue, our vacation plans of driving to Montreal had to get switched to taking a train while the dealership dealt with the problem. I will never buy Canadian Tire gas again. And if anyone knows who management would be for this situation, I'd appreciate a name. read more

This might be the worst Onroute. It used to be quite good bit in the past year or two it has really declined. The Tims is awful. The staff is mostly kids fooling about on their cell phones or giggling to each other in the corner and not taking/filling orders. The new ordering kiosks in the Onroute are a perfect example of "Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should " you can't pay a cashier anymore (and maybe ask a question) you are forced to order from a tap screen kiosk only. read more

All of the enroute locations have changed the way you can order food through a stupid terminal. You could wait 20 minutes for a terminal in another 25 or 30 minutes to actually get your food. I don't know which idiot decided to take away the cashier. until they put them back I don't stop at these locations anymore. read more

We stopped to get breakfast. Only Tim Hortons was open. Burger King and Popeye's don't do breakfast. Ordered food and drinks. The cashier said to get my drink to one side. There was a vending machine but it wasn't clear how to use it so I asked someone else at the counter. They said just a minute.our order wasn't on their screen yet. She later handed me an orange juice but said there wasn't any hot chocolate. We had to pick something else. Not the best service. They had quite a long line up. Took 15 minutes to get through it. My wife and I stopped at Port Hope OnRoute today on our way to Ottawa. The dining area was very dirty, tables are not cleaned, floor strewn with food scraps. the bathroom (men) was equally dirty. The washbasins are covered with some kind of muddy dirt. Floor wet and un-mopped. Overall extremely deplorable conditions. read more

We are splitting the difference here between average service at Burger King and surprisingly subpar service at Tim Horton's (which is usually quite good). Both places were busy but BK was running smoothly however my food wasn't the warmest by the time it got to me as they seemed focused on the express lane. Timmy's was chaotic not even taking time to slice our sandwich. Orders were getting confused but luckily ours was correct. This is regards to the customer service at the ON Market at the East bound Port Hope ON Route. The cashier was rude when my husband purchased lottery tickets and requested the receipt for his 649 and Lotto Max tickets....she actually refused to give him the receipt off the lottery machine....she was very rude about or. There was a second cashier there playing on her phone, I heard her tell the one that sold my husband the tickets that she " just laughs at assholes Like that". Clearly not caring about being heard. Should be ashamed....he only request a receipt of his purchase. read more

Tim Hortons had no breakfast sandwiches except bagels. Slow long lineup. Should have waited for a better stop on way to Ottawa.

This is a convenient stop when we are heading to visit family out east of he city. It can be incredibly busy depending on when you get here and the reason for the stop. (Timmy's is usually lined up massively and the gas pumps make you wonder why you don't just pull off the highway and make a quick stop in town.) It is relatively hit or miss. read more

Definitely the biggest, and probably the best ONroute I've ever been to! Not only does this place have the obligatory variety store and Tim Horton's, they also have Starbucks, Pita Pit, East Side Marios (to go!), and Burger King. If that's not enough variety for you, you expect too much from a pit stop. They have spacious bathrooms that are CLEAN and plenty of seating where you can enjoy your delicious fast food. If you're driving from Toronto to Ottawa, or somewhere in those areas, it's worth waiting around for this spacious ONroute. read more

All these regular chains will always get a 3 (average) rating from me. The food and drinks are always consistent. If there's an issue, I give it 1 or 2 stars, and if the service is spectacular, I will give it a 4 or 5 stars. This is one of those average Starbucks. I decided to try the Peach Iced Green Tea Lemonade for the first time. It was a bit pricy (as is everything at Starbucks) but it was tasty! ONroute itself was fine, stopped for starbucks and she messed up one drink and the other was a completely different drink (looked similar so didn't notice until we had left already). This is the best onroute I've visited so far! A mix of comfy armchairs and your standard tables and chairs give you seating options, instead of the standard cafeteria style tables and chairs. The setup is different as well, with more food options spread out around the center. Overall it is bigger, and that is a welcome change from the rest of the onroutes between Montreal and Toronto. We visited very early one morning, so perhaps if we had hit it later in the day it wouldn't have been so great, but it seemed to have a lot of potential to not be as crazy packed as the rest of the tiny rest stops, that quickly get hectic and cramped. read more

Sat Sept 5/2015 stopped @ the OnRoute Port Hope Canadian Tire Gas+ Convenience building to use the handicap washroom after fuelling up. I don't know when it was last cleaned - perhaps the day before it was 1st opened? There was toilet paper & other trash all over the floor, a path from the door to the barely passable toilet & extending to the sink. The sink & soap dispenser were filthy, so was the wall below the hand dryer which had the blower nozzle crusted with gunk as well. Even the interior door handle & lock looked & felt to have been used by someone mixing mud & auto grease camouflage with their hands. The health department needs to make an inspection of this place! Already trapped in a body that has poor immunity & trouble with balance & walking then be confronted with this germ & trash loaded sepsis brewing place makes me want to scream & kick someone. I've seen cleaner port-a-potties on construction sites! If there was an option of negative 10 rating that's all they would get from me! read more
