Took the bus from Toronto to Timmins at end of Feb. The trip up was nice, I went through Sudbury (bus change in Sudbury). It was on time to Sudbury and even leaving Sudbury but it arrived in Timmins 40 minutes late. But it was snowing so the road conditions weren't the best. The WiFi worked. The seats weren't super comfortable for someone 6'3". But overall I think it was a good service. My return trip from Timmins went through North Bay (switch in North Bay). The bus left on time. However the WiFi wasn't working the whole trip on both buses (luckily I had lots of phone data). And many of the outlets weren't working. When we got to the rest stop (it has a 15 minute test stop) everyone ran to charge their phones at the inn we stopped at. Luckily I also had a good phone battery. Overall, everyone was pretty respectful. There were people drinking in the bus by both ways (which is prohibited) but they didn't cause any trouble. Two men had a short argument because they looked at each other weird. The bus to and from Toronto is usually pretty full but between North Bay or Sudbury and more northern stops it was about half full. The bus temperature was also toasty warm. Too warm for a jacket but pleasantly warm for a sweater. Oh. And there was also garbage stuffed under the seats that I guess the operators or cleaners failed to look when cleaning the bus. Felt a bit frustrated that they advertise WiFi and outlets but neither worked on my return trip. But they both worked on the first trip, although lots of outlets still didn't work on all four buses. My suggestion to Ontario Northland: make sure these work because your riders are your lifeblood. People who take long 13 hour trips like I did, which gets tiring, should have at least those amenities. I'd recommend, but it's a dice roll whether you'll have everything working or not. read more

Maybe stick to the time schedule you put out to people. the bus was an hour late and didn't get to go home until 3 am.

July 25th and I'm taking a bus to Sudbury. I'm supposed to arrive there at 3:30 in the afternoon and I've just been told that when I make my connection from Elliott Lake in Sprague there's a 2-hour wait for the connecting bus so I have to sit in this little city at this bus stop and wait for 2 hours!!!!?? and my appointment's at 4:00 in Sudbury so I'm not going to make that. This is horrible customer service and on the phone to talk to their office we should know they don't refund . The is a blatant rip off the customers. If you can't keep on time 5 or 10 minutes would be reasonable, refund your customers!!! read more

This is for the bus driver Josh, who was the driver for Saturday June 10th, 2023 @ 4:00pm from North Bay to Toronto. My experience was amazing with this driver. Not only was he very kind to his passengers and took the time to talk to them and do his regular counts, announce the towns that we would approach but had a very warm demeanour. The bus ride was very comfortable and relaxing and was very punctual. I would love to have Josh as my driver again as I take these trips to North Bay very frequently! If you're going to Toronto from Sudz, this is the bus you want to take, and NOT that awful Greyhound. Right as soon as you walk in, you're greeted to a clean bus station that's well lit, has wifi and vending machines with coffee, soda and snacks as well. The buses themselves are all equipped with wifi that works great, unlike the wifi on Greyhound which would be useless, even in 1995. It's a shame that not all of the ONTC buses have plug-ins, but apparently it had something to do a screw-up when they were converting them from old Go Transit buses. The buses themselves are much cleaner and have more legroom than Greyhound. The rates are about the same as Greyhound as well, $50-ish with a student ID, or $80-ish for a standard fare. The tickets are good for exactly one year, and are open ended either to or from your destination city. (If you buy a ticket to Toronto, but end up wanting to use it there to get back to Sudbury, you can do that) It's just a shame that they don't go south of Toronto. But with wifi on the buses, you could buy a Greyhound ticket to get you to London, K/W or Hamilton and pick it up at the downtown terminal. Doing it this way ends up costing a little bit more, but I'd gladly pay an extra $10 or $15 if it means a more comfortable trip from Sudbury to Toronto. Too bad the Ontario Liberal Government wants to dismantle it, because if Greyhound has a monopoly on the service on the cities on highway 69 or 11, that will to put it bluntly, suck. read more

The bus drivers are usually very nice and accomodating. But being a student I plan to get tons of studying done while being on the bus. My commutes are about 4 to 6 hours and the WIFI doesn't work. You cannot offer a service that you ca3nt provide and charge costumers for it. Please fix the issues around the availability of WIFI t33aht is promised when you buy the ticket. read more
