"Rom" omelette
Lore D.

I didn't like the food so much but I'm giving it 4 stars anyway because I really liked the restaurant. It's perfect for a cool sunny day as it is right next to the river and in a quiet area (note: hard to find! Another note: very close to the new ECB so it's probably only quiet on weekends). I'm also giving it the benefit of the doubt because maybe I ordered such a plain dish. The popular order in our table was the London and everybody loved it!

Really good place to get away from the city and watch the sun go down while chilling, reading, writing or catching up with a friend while drinking beer. The river flows by and the sun sets over the frankfurt skyline from here.

Chicken curry salad

4 stars for amazing outdoor seating and good salads. We ordered dinner salads - one with chicken curry and one with lox and shrimps. plates were good size and tasty. Place to dine outside when the weather is right. Don't miss! They do not get full points because they have almost no non-alcoholic drinks. I ordered a caipi virgin style but seems like the bartender does not know how to male these. Tasted just like water! Also waitress was nice but not very experienced. Tried to clean the table while one of us was still eating! Would give it 3,5 but the evening was beautiful and their location is just perfect for a hot summer nite dinner outside.

Nice food!

The worst service imaginable, and not only on the busy days. The food quality would not make up for the horrible expereiences here.

It is more spacious than one would expect from the outside with about 8 toal tables. Good amount of space and separation between each table. Definitely less crammed than Bruhmarkt in Bockenheim which my normal go-to spot. I ordered the Ethiopian coffee (4,10 euro). It is on the expensive side (similar coffee is 3,90 euro as t Burhmarkt), but quality is very good. Free wifi, comfortable atmosphere and good coffee make this a place to spend more than a few hours relaxing.

It was obvious that I was traveling (I had my bags with me) but most of the staff was very gracious when I asked questions about what to order or how to pronounce things, which was very kind. My server went out of her way to check in and to make recommendations. The atmosphere itself is relaxing, cozy, and comfortable, but at the same time so alive with colors and art and interesting things to explore while you eat. There's seating indoors and a spacious sidewalk patio seating area. I ordered a cappuccino to drink and the Power Frühstrück to eat, which ended up being an amazing spread. It included a light omelet, a basket of fresh bread, jam, fruit, cheese, cream cheese, olives and an orange juice. It was plenty of food for a solid meal and was less than 15 euros. I also enjoyed the little touches (even if I couldn't read them!) on the menu about the business and the note from the owner. It all seemed very thoughtfully done. I would love to come back and explore more of the menu and spend a little bit more time enjoying myself in the space!

Yup, that was it. Here's what is awesome about this comprehensive buffet for about 33Euros. The maitre'd greets you and offers coffee or tea, juice as she seats you. She does so in a warm and assumptive manner anticipating your needs. The hot line portions are small, so the plates will look patchy when more guests arrive. However, the staff are uber quick to replenish and preen the line to make sure that it is instagram perfect when you return. Otherwise, they are not intrusive and keep a watchful eye to engage guests quickly when needed. The smoked fish, gravadlax was a tier above the norm in quality. So was the prosciutto that was shy of Iberico Ham--just missing the acorn notes. The blood and liver sausages were spot on. Even the condiments here were elevated--large capers, pearl onion, cornichon, wholegrain mustard, dill mustard, horseradish. The Rollmops were delightful. They had a rocking juice bar that included pear juice. Yummy! The strong coffee came in a caraffe--a perfect amount for me. They had pretzel rolls and other whole seed breads and breakfast pastries. Be that I was focusing on a high protein breakfast, I passed. The fried eggs had a lovely orange hue indicative of free range eggs. Did not save room for the omelettes. There was an English Breakfast selection, a plethora of yoghurt options, a full on fruit bar... all of which I passed because I was fixated on the fish! Having conferenced around the world, and started my long days with a high protein breakfast buffet such as this, I am pleased to report that this hotel breakfast is in a tier of its own. Sure, it is pricey, but given the convenience, service, selection and execution, I look forward to eating here the next few mornings.

When a Manager Becomes the Reason to Leave a Restaurant!…read more Our visit to Sunny Side Up was unfortunately one of the most unpleasant restaurant experiences we have had in a long time. We stopped by for breakfast before leaving Frankfurt and had already placed our order. I was carrying a paper bag containing a muffin from another shop. The muffin remained in the bag under the table the entire time. I neither ate it nor took it out of the bag. A young man who introduced himself as the manager then approached our table. Instead of addressing the situation politely, professionally, and discreetly, he loudly confronted me in front of other guests in an inappropriate manner. His attitude was aggressive, condescending, and disrespectful. Of course, a restaurant has every right to set rules regarding outside food. No one was questioning that. What was completely unacceptable, however, was the way he chose to treat paying customers. When I explained that I was not eating the muffin and expressed my concern about his behavior, he showed no interest whatsoever in resolving the situation constructively. On the contrary, when I said that we would rather leave under those circumstances, he essentially told us to go ahead. So we left the restaurant, leaving our already served coffee behind. In my opinion, anyone who treats guests in this manner is not suited for a customer-facing role, let alone a management position. Hospitality is not merely about enforcing rules; it is about treating people with respect, tact, and basic decency. His behavior reflected the exact opposite. What I find particularly troubling is that this kind of conduct increasingly seems to be regarded as normal. It feels like a reflection of a broader societal decline in courtesy, respect, and common decency. This is simply not how customers should be treated. The name "Sunny Side Up" appears to aim for an American-style breakfast culture built on friendliness, openness, and good service. Unfortunately, it remains little more than a façade. While the restaurant attempts to imitate an American concept, it fails at the very thing that defines it: friendly, professional, customer-oriented service! We left the restaurant disappointed and upset. Based on this experience, we will not be returning and unfortunately cannot recommend Sunny Side Up.

So we were really looking forward to enjoying a great steak during on their opening night but it wasn't meant to be. When we arrived for our 2000 reservation the host told us they didn't have a reservation for us. We showed them the reservation confirmation which was meet with "we do not have a table" for you. Strike 1. After seeing the confirmation message they scrambled to try to make amends. They offered us drinks on the house and we waited in the lobby. After about a 30 minute wait they sat us at our table. Things may be looking...nope. It took over an hour just to get our wine ordered and brought to our table. We asked the waiters/waitresses three or four times for a wine menu and they kept telling us that someone would come to our table and explain their wine listing. Didn't happen. Strike 2. It's gets better (100% sarcasm here)...remember our reservation was at 2000, well it was now almost 2230 and we just received our food. I ordered the Tomahawk steak cooked temperature Medium and my girlfriend order the Tuna steak medium. First off for the price tag of €130 for the tomahawk steak it should come out at the requested temperature and I should be able to cut through it like butter...That was not the case. It came rare! To top it all off both the tomahawk steak and tuna steak came out cold. Unacceptable. STRIKE 3!!! I explained to the manager the situation and they were able to see that the steak came out rare instead of medium and they said they would do something for us. I told the managers that if you are going to just reheat the same piece of meat then I do not want it but for some reason I had this strange feeling that they were going to just try to heat up the same piece of meat to get it to the right temperature and that's exactly what they did. When they brought the now burnt steak back out it was extra chewy like a €5 steak. I've had it by this point. I told the managers that I am not paying €130 for a reheated tomahawk steak that had a consistency of beef jerky. So the night was just an all around let down. I will say that the side dishes were tasty and their food presentation was very nice but those two things could not save the rest of the disaster.
