Very reasonable pricing, no contracts, tons of class times, and great people. All levels, from beginners to black belts, train here. The environment is very welcoming. Competition is encouraged but not required, and there are many very successful competitors here in different age ranges, weight classes, and belt levels. Focusing on the kid's side for this review: Started about 3 years ago with my 4 year old daughter. We came for a trial class and enjoyed it, so decided to keep training. Another big factor was the female ownership and strong female membership. I wanted my daughter to have those examples to look up to. We have never done any martial arts or wrestling before, so I wasn't sure how either of us would fair. My daughter loves her coaches and they really do a great job of keeping things fun yet disciplined and engaging. They all genuinely care about their students. They make sure everyone is safe and working together in a controlled way. Coach Jen and Coach Kat started her off with Wee Warriors and the basic skills. She has been able to move up and promote into the more advanced classes with Coach Kari and Coach Eli. She also loves helping with the younger kids whenever she can with Coach (and owner) Karen, Coach Eli, or Coach Jen. It's nice that all of the coaches generally work together and help eachother, and there are many other coaches that I am sure I am neglecting to mention who have contributed to my daughter's progress. The lessons are consistent no matter who is leading the class, and generally build on the previous lessons or review skills already taught. Plenty of private and small group lessons available as well for extra training if desired. The more my daughter participates and engages with her coaches, friends, training partners, and other competitors, the more she enjoys being at Genesis Jiu Jitsu. She genuinely looks forward to it and misses it when she can't go. Come on in and join the Genesis family!

What I like about his teaching style is that he will teach positionally, i.e. he will go over the options from a given position, and then transition into letting students get a feel for what option is "correct." This is perhaps the best way for students to develop a good game and is surprisingly rare to see in a lot of schools. I recommend training at Sloth BJJ for anyone in the area! The QiGong portion of class is very calming and grounding. If you aren't able to stand for the entire session there is an option to sit in a chair and achieve the same energetic benefits. The Tai Chi section of class is split into beginner and advanced levels. Sensei Nishida is great to make sure you understand the concepts and forms in order to attain the maximum benefits from this healing martial art form. The dojo is always clean and lots of windows and beautiful trees. The teachers here at 6 Blades truly care for the kids (I have a 11yr old girl and 8yr old boy). I love watching them teach these kids Respect and technique.
