Legends is truly what they say they are, the Premier Martial Arts School in the area. Myself and my 2 sons have joined and we enjoy it, the entire staff is wonderful, you learn martial arts is not just about fighting it's about how you conduct yourself when you're not fighting as well. They teach and promote various life skills, i.e. Respect, Goal Setting, etc. My son had problems at school last year, this year he's had a complete 180 and no longer dreads going to school and it's not because he thinks he can fight, it's because he's learned how to handle himself in the face of diversity. This was my alternate option for my son after seeing a psychiatrist and after only 3-4 visits he wanted to prescribe my son mood altering drugs. The instructors are the epitome of how today's youth should behave, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that some of the instructors were just graduating high school or still in high school. I truly believed that they were in their mid 20's to late 20's due to their maturity level and how they carry themselves. All of them having attending Legends Martial Arts themselves, so they are a product of their own school and also give you an idea of how the school can help mold your child. As for the myself, I joined after finding that I was diagnosed with diabetes, i knew I needed to lose weight. I enjoy it because you do more than just run around a track in circles (boring to me) you do different exercises and at the same time you are learning martial arts. Since joining in late February, I've lost weight and noticed that i've gained some energy and have gotten compliments from friends and family about my weight loss. My son has been going here since Sept 2014, he was three when he started and is four now. We couldn't be happier with the results we are seeing! Not only is he learning the useful and beautiful skill of karate, he has become a much better listener in general. We see a huge improvement in how well he focuses on a task! He says yes ma'am and yes sir automatically now (most of the time, lol), and he is developing a healthy drive to compete and succeed. Maybe most importantly, he has learned how to fail with grace, and to always keep trying and working towards his goals. The youth instructors are excellent, they have an amazing amount of patience and skill with the kids. Master Burleson is always circulating, greeting families and students...when he's not teaching class, that is. This is a family dojo, with lots of extra-curricular activities such as the Bully-Proof Seminar, Buddy Week, exhibition events, etc. Master Burleson is highly involved in our community, as well. Without a doubt the best dojo around. Legends' kids program is far above what other dojos offer, not only in teaching karate and real life self defense, but also in character and community development. They focus as much on positive core values and character development as they do kicks and punches, both in and out of the dojo. One of my boys has some special needs but has thrived under the tutelage of Master Burleson and his team. I am so happy that we found Legends Martial Arts about a year and a half ago.....best thing we ever did for my family! He loves it! He is in the Lil' Legends classes and is about test for his Lil' Legends black belt!!! The program teaches much more than karate...they also focus on character skills and building confidence in public speaking. This dojo is amazing! My son has learned so much because the instructors actually take their time with all of the students. Chance Burleson and Greg Cockrell and Niles Walters ( and the rest of the gang) are outstanding. They are encouraging, patient and FUN. They are knowledgeable, respectful and kind with all belt levels and they have taught my son so much. He has some physical issues and I have noticed major improvement in his balance, coordination and attitude. His self confidence has really soared this past year and I am so grateful for this dojo and everyone in it. This place is perfect for our 7 year old who has been working his way through the belts for at least the last year and a half. We drive all the way from the Northeast side of Euless to come to Legends in Hurst, passing many other dojos on the way. The instructors are kind but firm, and provide a safe and clean environment for our son to learn respect, trust, and discpline somewhere other than home. They are all very good with children, showing by example how to be an upstanding citizen, friend, community helper. He's learning valuable lessons for his own physical and emotional growth, and we would never dream of taking him anywhere but here all the way through to his black belt. read more

I will start by saying that LEGENDS MARTIAL ARTS in Hurst is the absolute BEST! Mr. Burleson and all of the assistants are the most helpful patient and skilled. My son is extremely shy and with their sincere dedication they have helped tremendously. I was skeptical about my 4 year old being able to engage in a discipline like martial arts, but after one trial class we were both hooked. He has played two seasons of rec soccer which turned out to just be a swarm of kids chasing a ball around. However at Legends Martial Arts he gets LOTS of one on one time with instructors. He has learned to listen and follow instructions. He enjoys it so much that we've able able to leverage karate lessons as reward for doing chores; everyone wins! This is a GREAT place to go for martial arts. My daughter started at age 11 and just loved it. In fact, she cried one day when she couldn't make it. The instructors are positive, professional and know their stuff. The standards are high and the school puts a great deal of emphasis on character and self-discipline (validated by parents and teachers) in order for a child to move up to the next belt. My kids started taking karate at his dojo when each of them turned 6 years old. My oldest is now 15. All still attend classes at this dojo. We have always been happy with the instructors, their knowledge, how they communicate and relate to their students of all ages, and their sense of community. We wanted to sign up my son for karate . We loved it so much a few weeks later my daughter and I signed up also. It is challenging for all of us but fun. Legends is great! The instructors have great personalities and make it fun. It's completely family friendly, my 2 kids and I train there.
