The volunteer jobs range from food sorting to truck assistance to aquagrow farms to receptionist. I volunteer there for about 4 or 5 years on and off (since my high school school years). I earned many of my volunteer hours here. I did many things such as sorting canned food, cutting carrots, building boxes, taped fillex boxes and sorting tapped boxes. I got to know people on my shelf through talking and listening to them and their conversations.

They hosted a special Easter Sunday service meal to the public between 2-4 today for Easter Sunday where countless dozens came to enjoy a full lunch with tea, hot chocolate, and coffee on the side. I just love coming back and cleaning up after the meal service. They were recognized by the Daily Bread Food Bank years ago for their efforts and commitment to help the people in the community. Wish there more places like this. I will come back to help out whenever I am requested and have the time.

The staff was wonderful to talk to and they explained how the food reaches those in need. They give you instructions on how to help that day. It's a super team activity or you can sign up to volunteer on your own. I hope to come back again with my team. It was a very fulfilling day. Dress comfortable as you will gathering foods and packing them and working in their warehouse. Such an altruistic place. I love what they do for others

The place is more like a fashion agency than a food bank as upper management would rather look good…read morethan do good. I've witnessed multiple people get turned away and not receive food although they can give boxes of non perishable food out at their own discretion. When perishable food is donated it usually sits on a shelf in the cool until it goes bad and then it's discarded. Many project completed by volunteers often go to the wayside as it sits in the warehouse and does not make it to a food pantry before items in the box pass the extended shelf life. Beware!!!

It is located in front of the former Gigi's restaurant, with very easy parking in the lot next to the building. We went yesterday at lunchtime to donate a couple bags of nonperishables to the pantry. Usually the fridge and pantry are unmanned, and you just put your donations in wherever they belong. But yesterday the woman who runs the panty was there, with a couple volunteers. It was very nice to meet her, a wonderful woman doing her part to support the neighborhood. She said the most needed items are usually milk, eggs, cheese, bananas and other fresh produce, and cereal. Canned goods are typically stocked decent in the pantry, but the fridge always has room for more. But nonperishables are still appreciated. Donations are accepted 24/7. We will be back with dairy and produce next week. #Buffalove

Their entrance is a little tricky to find. As you drive into their lot the entrance is actually on the side of the building (look for the gazebo). You will see the sign "The Learning Enrichment Foundation". When you enter the building turn to the right and walk all the way to the back of the hall past all the tables. Large amount of donations are actually dropped off at the back of the building. If you're in the back where the loading dock is, and you need to go to the washroom, they'll give you protective footwear to use as you walk through the warehouse. Our point person was Kadian; she was a pleasure to work with. They weighed our Church's donation, took some pictures (they had their own photographer) and emailed us a certificate.

We used to live in the area and went to the VFW every Friday for a fish fry. It was always packed,…read moreand everything on the plate was delicious. In addition to the haddock- which was huge, the meal came with a mound of fries and a scoop of coleslaw, potato salad and macaroni salad. Everything was made to perfection. We were back in the area this past week and looked forward to another fish fry. We were surprised to find the place almost empty, except for the bar. The server (also the bartender) was very friendly and said they were only open 3 days a week now. He explained that they now get fresh fish every Wednesday and was very proud of the quality. We placed our orders and looked forward to having another delicious fish fry. When the plates arrived, the fish itself did not disappoint and was flakey and fresh. It alone was worth the trip. However, the salads were very different, as were the fries which became cold and soggy very quickly. I'd like to see them go back to the old recipes for the coleslaw, potato salad, and macaroni salad. I am attaching photos of what we used to get and what is being served now. The photo showing the defined scoops of salads and slaw is what used to be served. If they go back to that, I'm sure they'll be packing them in again
