Pomme worker(s) don't wear masks, act evasive and act untoward when confronted…read more I was in the Pomme store in Nanaimo at 7:30 PM on March 3rd, 2021. I grabbed a few things quickly and checked out. When checking out I noticed the cashier was wearing one of those small plastic chin strap guards. It doesn't even cover the nose, and is far from the mouth anyways. It's worthless as a mask. I said what "I think what you are wearing is useless as a mask". The cashier heel turned, "Well, I have my reasons for wearing it" and acted like I was untoward and none of my business. I've been wearing masks for everyone for the last year, to help reduce COVID infections and recent infections have a circuit breaker in April 2021 in BC. Because of this, I think not wearing a mask is not a cool move. Also, I would like to know before shopping if a store workers ignore health guidelines. Store was almost empty besides the cashier, so the cashier was a manager or well seen by the management.

So I was surprised when I called and asked if it was okay to use my Popeye's money (like canadian tire dollars but for Popeye's) from another franchise in this store they said they'd rather not. It's not that they refused to, but it was a bit of a put off considering this is an incentive to shop there, and I'd been a Popeye's faithful for years. Okay, so whatever. I'm a grown man and can get past that. So I go there looking for my usual-unflavored protein powder of a specific brand that I always got at the mainland Popeye's. They've got vanilla, chocolate, and probably some other flavors, so I ask if they have it in unflavored. The sales individual tells me that they don't make it unflavored. However I'd bought plenty of it in Vancouver- it was the Bio-x brand which is on their website. I felt put off by this inaccuracy since the Salesman seemed to be a manager. I then decided to spend my popeye's bucks on some powdered greens and left. It really surprises me that the Vancouver branches of this store have a better selection of more natural ingredient Powders considering the size of the stores aren't larger. Perhaps it's a demand thing here on the island. Everyone I spoke to who worked there was informative and kind, and quick to help. Overall the prices are pretty good.

Pharmacy has gone from bad to worse since Sobey's took over Thrifty Food's…read more Head office has little or no feel of what community pharmacy is. Staff are often frightened for further cuts that are happening in upper level management. Not friendly place no smiles in the aisles here!

Kudos to the floral department at Thrifty's Longwood Station for an absolutely fabulous table…read morearrangement. It really "wowed" my guests.
