This service sucks. I canceled service with them because the new location I was moving to doesn't offer their service (no wires to build off of to get to my new house) well, I returned my equipment and paid the remaining balance due. I got a confirmation email stating it was all good. Then the next day I got an email stating my card was being charged $130 for service. First off, I don't pay my bill autopay. The charges my card without my consent and then I went in person to dispute this and the lazy worker said they can't do it in person. So I had to call. I couldn't understand the service rep and I demanded a manger or supervisor multiple times for the to just hang up on me. optimum hung up on me 4 times! We moved my Mother in Law in February and set Optimum because of the leasing agent recommendation. Bad decision. She always has trouble with something not working. Recently it's been bad remotes and the sound not working. Currently it's been a week plus a no show for someone to show up and replace a remote and fix the sound again. I went to the Optimum mobile store on Beene Dr in Bossier City get help with an I 15 pro phone I had purchased from them only 5 months before. The cell phone was getting extremely hot when I talked on it and would drop call. I was expecting the staff to help me with my issue but I was sadly disappointed. The male employee was extremely rude and more or less told me the damaged phone was my problem and there was nothing they could do And I was stuck with a defective phone. We have been in Minden LA for roughly 30 days and didn't know who would be a good internet service provider. Optimum advertising was plentiful so the assumption was made by us the company would be a good fit. Well, that assumption could not have been any more wrong. From day ONE we experienced nothing but poor, very poor internet connection. We have spent more time on the telephone with customer service trying to troubleshoot our problem than we have had using the internet. Technicians were sent to our house twice so far and a third visit scheduled. This is totally unacceptable, especially with the high price we are paying for internet service. Likewise, within the Optimum universe, "customer service" is an imaginary concept that is useful to ponder but lacks any tangible basis in their reality. Once you see past the Orwellian perversion of the term "customer service" the theoretically user-friendly philosophy is a thin veneer covering a solid foundation of harassment, badgering, and bullying to protect the holiest of holies: customer numbers. "Are we meeting your needs?" or "how can we improve your experience? "are not mantras of any merit in this "customer service" variation. Rather, the aim seems to be to blindly recite the prepared script, complete the checklist, and antagonize the caller until the customer is verbally accosted into submission. During the call I could almost hear the minions chanting "you're one of us" and pawing at my legs as I scrambled to crawl out of the pit that is the experience of canceling internet and cable service. If I could post with a zero star I would. Optimum has to be the absolute WORST service (mobile and internet) anyone could ever purchase. The customer service is horrible. It's a third world call center and none of the representatives speak clear English, let alone be able to help you out. I cancelled my mobile service on two lines in early March, got them both switched over to another carrier, only to find out the idiot service rep didn't cancel one of my two lines. I owned a small business in town. I called Suddenlink on May 3rd, because I was closing the business May 6 and needed to cancel my service. I was told I would be charged for the entire month. I have tried to call several times to get this charge removed but no one will budge. My billing cycle ended May 2nd and since I called the day after, they were going to charge me. The service itself is good. Never had any issues with internet speed or outages. Optimum used to be Suddenlink, who had horrible customer service. Customer service is much better with Optimum. But since the change my internet bill went up in price and is too expensive. They do not provide options to downgrade to a more affordable plan. Such as eliminating phone or TV. The only options are upgrades, which cost more money for an already expensive service. Optimum does not seem to care if they lose customers who are switching to more affordable services. Which tells me they do not appreciate their customers. Anyone interested in internet services should do their research. If I could rate Suddenlink negative five stars, I would. My mother has been a loyal customer of Suddenlink for years now. However, due to unemployment and my father passing away, she was forced to cancel her expensive service. Suddenlink was notified, but instead of them cancelling the account, they placed it into pending. This enabled them to rack up on multiple late charges that my mother could not afford. On top of this, she was never notified of the charges until a lady called to set up a payment plan. After making multiple calls to several representatives after hours of wait times, call disconnections, and 300 plus dollars later, the issue has still NOT been resolved. Consistently raises prices in small amounts over 6 months or so periods. Claim to give higher speeds, to charge more, but speed never increases. Reliability is actually good until you go to download a larger file. Optimum throttles users who do so, many others and I have noticed this as the usual. When you are throttled it is to an unusable point. Will be switching providers once a better choice opens up. Suddenlink is an absolutely terrible ISP (Internet Service Provider). First, they don't do my initial install correctly - so I had to call them a week later and have them send someone out to do the job they should've done to begin with - and they charged me for the house call!! Luckily, after two weeks, I got that reimbursed. I pay $100 a month for their best internet package (1Gb speeds) with no data cap, and I am constantly getting throttled by this company. They are intentionally slowing my speeds down. I know, I know - everyone probably says this. But I am in IT for a living. I work with networks day to day and know when my bandwidth is being throttled. Time and Time again I will get as slow as 5-6Mbps when I pay for 1Gb service!! I have made NUMEROUS calls to Suddenlink who swear up and down they don't throttle - even if you surpass your data cap. All they do is try to push a technician to come to my home. I have explained to them that my home can't suddenly allow up to 600Mbps one minute, and the next give me 12Mbps. They insist everything is alright but my own tests and multiple years of experience tell me otherwise. They constantly try to push their service techs to come to my house at $55 a visit and I know with certainty, this isn't the issue. Then they try and push their home protection plan for $9 a month so I won't have to pay a technician to come out. Oh, and they do the typical technician thing "we'll be there between 7am and your death" but then show up outside the window causing you to have to reschedule. This happened twice after waiting nearly two weeks for my initial install. I'm fed up. Completely. ISPs can literally do whatever they want and follow it up with a BS story about how it's not them but the customer with the issue. They don't care as long as it's your money. As much as I hate to say it, Comcast was more consistent and somewhat better. Not much better, but just barely. Let that sink in - Comcast is better. Comcast. While the guy that installed it was a nice guy as is ladies at office in Bossier City the office in Texas that answers all calls I horrible to say the least. Internet and cable go out daily and have to keep resetting it loses sound and such. People in Texas kept boosting the signal and burnt out the unit I had to take it to local office and vet new one and then rerun wires for new unit. Terrible customer service. I was told by a technician I had the wrong modem and needed to switch it out at no charge. Drove 40 miles to swap it out and was told there is a monthly charge to have the correct modem. We canceled our cable and phone with Suddenlink after 10 service calls could not resolve our issues. They gave us a two month credit for not having service but failed to apply the credit. Every request is a 30 min phone call with someone who barely understands English. The way that Suddenlink treats their customers, in a business environment where cable is seen as a "dying technology", is appalling. Two days in a row I called the customer service number to be greeted by wait times exceeding 30 minutes. The second day I requested a call back at a time provided by the automated system. The time agreed upon was 1445 on 15 October. That time came and went with no call. At 1600 that day I tried to call again and again it was a 30 minute estimated wait. I decided to go to the Bossier City, LA store for help and was greeted there by over 20 people waiting for help from only 4 associates. Frustrated and unwilling to stand in line for over an hour I decided to wait on the phone instead of in person. ONE HOUR AND SIX MINUTES later I finally connected with someone who assisted me. Ultimately I stayed with Suddenlink because they were able to get my total bill reduced by 75 dollars, thus beating using a streaming service like Sling for a total overall cost. I have zero allegiance to any cable/ISP and only care about cost since I believe they are all equally greedy and dismissive of their customers but I do think that Suddenlink is particularly bad and look forward to the day they are forced out of business as their customer jumps for other options like Sling, Hulu and Amazon. In the mean time I'll save money, even if it's a few dollars, wherever I can. read more

We were with Suddenlink for over a year. It was hell, no service, call into customer service wait time 30-60 minutes long. We never got good service but when we cancelled the service they tried to give us all kind of deals and said it seemed it was the new Altice box we had, it has been shown to not work well in rural areas. I'm like, for real! We have had 20 technicians in our home and you all knew this and didn't change the box, no. We dropped off the equipment in bossier city and still had 2 weeks of service left. Guess what, we still got a bill for $30.00!!! After cancelling the service two weeks early, never using it again and turning in the equipment they still sent us another bill. If I could rate negative I would. Absolutely the worst service anyone could have. They disconnected my service for "not paying" and when I contacted them to get the situation fixed I was hung up on twice, rudely informed "you have to pay the 162 dollars to get the internet back on" and also rudely talked down to. When finally got ahold of someone who could actually help it was found that I had two accounts and was paying on one that apparently was inactive, but still had monthly statements popping up. Was then transferred to IT to get my internet back up and running with the rude IT tech saying it'll take 30 minutes to an hour but eventually it will come back on and this is what happens when you dont pay your bill and told me he would call back to see if it worked. No call back from him so I called again and was informed that it could be a cable that was buried less than 5 months ago that went bad. When I tried to tell the lady i couldn't leave work to meet the technician I was rudely told it was my loss.
