The new engineering building is cool and they are redoing theansion. There are some interesting buildings here. I completed an engineering degree here in the early 2000s and today I am a rocket scientist. The staff and professors at the time were awesome and I built the foundation that set me up for my entire career at OCCC. I met some great people there, a few of which are still lifelong friends. Patricia Sullivan from the nursing department she usually teaches Nursing 2 has been changing students answers on test for years. The School is aware of it and has done nothing about it.. All the students that have failed nursing two should have their test reviewed. There really should be a class action suit against this teacher and the school. read more

The work environment at SUNY Orange Plus is very poor. Employees are treated unfairly, and HR consistently denies or cancels any meetings requested with them. There is a clear lack of support and respect for staff, making it difficult for employees to address concerns or improve working conditions read more

I have major concerns about the way Orange County Community College monitors their enrollment for classes. If enrollment is low, they will give you approximately 1 to 1 1/2 days to find an alternative solution. When you are given such little notice, it is virtually impossible to find a reasonable solution. I tried bringing this matter directly to the President of the school, and in not so many words, was told she is too big a fish in the pond to deal with issues like this one. My issue is quite time sensitive and have zero faith that this will be handled by anyone at all. When I first started attending OCCC, I was hoping to be an advocate. The school has made this very hard. Just don't lose sight that this is nothing more than a business geared at being profitable at the expense of it's student body! read more

Clean campus, friendly staff, DECENT (not overly good but not overly bad!) Class availability, okay advisors, and mostly good teachers (had about 2 that were just trash, and 2 that were superb). The only cons I can really think of the tuition is constantly rising with every semester despite taking the same number of credits, not enough parking in the peak hours (not an issue for evening students though), and the financial aid office just outright doesn't care about you and will make you wait for atleast 20-30 minutes despite you being the only person there as they open...which, if you call, says 8:00a but they refuse to take anyone in until 8:15..so why not just fucking open at 8:15 instead of lying? My experience with this school would simply be just okay. I didn't take part in any clubs or activities because my schedule doesn't really allow time for that. It is by no means a "bad" school, it is affordable despite what I said (I think it's like just under $3k for a FT semester), but as far as being a social school like other colleges..everyone seems to just kind of keep their heads down so it's up to you to be the outgoing one. read more

I am 26 years old and live all the way in NYC but love coming here and go part time due to the long commute Melanie Bukovsky in the disability office is an amazing person and always goes out of her way to help me anytime I come back(Since I do have to take time off here and there) But I am halfway done with my associates and would recommend this school to anybody This is definitely the place where dreams come true because once u get your associates degree u can move on to any school u want to and know u had the help of getting there from OCCC read more

I graduated last month with an associates in behavioral science and must say that my experience was amazing. I went away to UAlbany for my first year and came back home to continue my education at a cheaper price and live at home to save money (dorming wasn't for me) and I was blown out of the water. All of my professors were amazing, all of the advisors I worked with were amazing (as long as you reach out yourself and work with them.) I love SUNY Orange and would recommend anyone to go there to either begin their higher education journey or acquire a 2 year degree. If I could go back to my senior year of high school, I would have 100% gone straight to SUNY Orange instead of going away to a 4 year school right of the bar. It's a great college, and I look forward to taking all I have learned here to SUNY New Paltz in the fall. read more

I really like this school. Staff are nice and understanding. The adults (or young adults) seem to behave. My only issue is the financial aid office it can be a little confusing. Advice for any new college student reading this " no one will take better care for you than you, make sure you stay on top of your aid and anything that is time sensitive." Also a lot of the liaison front desk ladies are not well informed of what's going on in school (for ex: closing or changing of hours.) read more

The only reason this college gets two stars is because of some teachers who genuinely care about the students they teach. Any material that isn't interfered with political beliefs is information I have learned and can potentially use down the road. SUNY Orange has a declining enrollment for a reason. Here are a few. Lack of efficient security: As I was backing out of a parking spot an impatient driver clipped the back end of my car, and dented just below my back brake light. I then called the security office and was told to "back into the spot next time"... LOL, what a joke. Politically motivated teachers and hierarchy: I've been involved in two classes where teachers explain their political beliefs, but when I explain my own, I get ridiculed. Kristine Young organizes events for African American's and celebrates women's history and there is NOTHING wrong with that at all, but celebrate of all society-- instead of picking which genders and races to acknowledge. Young has also done little-to-nothing in improving anything about the college itself. Considering the funds people put into the college, and you still have limited staff and classrooms without a functioning smart board. Lastly, the financial administration at SUNY Orange is fraudulent. People say community colleges are a cheap and reliable way to get a degree or use it to propel yourself into a four year school, and I totally agree. Unfortunately, the financial aid office is like a bank. They take advantage of new students who don't know what to pay. Thank you to the teachers at SUNY Orange who genuinely care about teaching the kids of today. PARENTS BEWARE: Do extensive research before you pay your son or daughters tuition. read more
