The couple that run the place are 1st class, the breakfast was excellent, the place is very clean and modern, but with an old wooden style too. The garden is impressive, and there are plenty of places to eat nearby, as they do not cook evening meals. They upgraded me to their master room, without any prompting from myself - because they were quiet - and they gave me some of their homemade cake to take to work with me. The bed was gorgeous, the surrounding area is gorgeous, the place is gorgeous! I would love to come back in personal time, stay a couple of nights, and walk the Malvern Hills - recommended, but not cheap.

Helpful, courteous, and attentive friendly staff, always there when you need them, but at the same time unobtrusive. The rooms are really spacious, bright & airy with lovely, modern decor, and as mentioned, spotlessy clean. All the usual room comforts are provided such as tea/coffee making facilities, ironing board+iron and TV. The bathroom was really gorgeous too with a roll-top bath plus walk-in shower. Expensive smelling toileties & beautifuly soft white fluffy towels completed the superior ambiance of the whole building. Breakfast was a delightful experience, with excellent quality locally sourced food, and plenty of it. Some things were even home-made too, like the delicious jams and marmalade. Oh, and better not forget to mention that they also cater for veggetarians. There is lots of attention to detail here, with everything you could want to hand - and if it's not there just ask, & you will be given - with a smile, I might add! I can't praise the owners high enough for their unwavering consideration towards their guests, which in my opinion more than ensures return visits, and plenty of them! The point I want to make is. Don't be put off by a non en-suite room. Its not as bad as it seems. It was a pain to run across the hallway in the middle of the night, desperate for No1 & No2. Just made it.. Reminded me of a movie I watched with Jodi Foster. Having to lock one room to run across the hallway to open the other. (Yes I had to lock my room and unlock the loo every time). (In the end I just left the loo door open.) It was exciting and scary..... I was worried in case I bumped into anyone lurking in the shadows. Sadly no lurkers ! ( What a shame. Sometimes guest houses are either extremely cluttered or filled with cheap Ikea furniture, but this house is well furnished and up-to-date. I particularly liked the breakfast room with antiques and green walls...so British! Location is perfect, just a 5 minute walk to the train station or to the center of town. Our room was very spacious and well appointed. The windows are double pane so it stayed nice and warm. Water pressure and heat was excellent. Breakfast was delicious. The portions were so large I could barely finish everything. There's of course a full English, but also some other options like omelets and cereals. Don't miss the homemade jams! They also offer a packed lunch for £7 which I highly recommend. I don't know where they got that ham for the sandwich, but it was some of the best I've had in ages. The lunch came with sandwich, quiche, crisps, cake, and water - all in an insulated bag. For my fellow Americans, you may see some reviews or house rules mention that the Emsley doesn't allow "all male or all female" parties. In Britain, that refers to bachelor/bachelorette parties. It doesn't refer to same-sex couples, which are gladly welcomed at the Emsely. I thought I'd point that out because that terminology might be confusing to some travelers.

During my family members stay they were subjected to the following: The Landlady purposefully mis-gendering a resident by using the feminised version of their legal male name. Being told they were not disabled because they "didn't look disabled". People trying to break down doors because they forgot their code. Constant domestic disputes and a really heavy smell of weed being smoked in the rooms. Older men walking around in only their pants and noticeably excited. Same older man smearing literal excrement all over the toilet walls. To top it all off in moves someone in obvious psychosis who runs around the house waving an axe. When my family member and another resident called the police (about Mr Crazy Axeman) and reported the issue to their housing officers The Landlady kicked them out and gave them less than 24 hours to remove their property. So, if you're a crack using alky who likes to run round in your pants, with a hard-on wand waving an axe, this is the ideal place for you. If you're homeless and being placed here by the Council, remember not to make any complaints or she'll have you out on the street.
