I will say that when we pull dad to reserve our spot there are a few homeless people that called this area their home but they did not bother anyone during the duration of the park being utilized. Was definitely well visited by many families and their kids this past weekend. They do not have a common area grill so you would need to bring your own. There are public restrooms for the most part was semi-clean. Overall the appearance of the park was well-kept.

Their massive canopies provide plenty of shade and create a peaceful place to relax, even on warm Central Valley afternoons. The park is well maintained, with open green space, a playground, and plenty of room for families to spread out and enjoy the day. Since summer break started, my daughter and I have found ourselves coming here almost every week. Whether we're having a picnic under the trees, watching birds, or simply enjoying the fresh air, it's become one of our favorite summer traditions. Peterson Park is beautiful year-round, but the summer shade from these incredible trees makes it something truly special.

The Ron Williamson Youth Activity Area is completely separate from the playground found in the Lodi Lake Park. It is located on a small grassy peninsula way in back of the park. This area is surrounded by the Mokelumne River Riparian. There are a few picnic tables next to the parking lot, but most of the picnic tables were located under a huge gazebo towards the end of the play area. In front of the activity area is a small playground with slides and climbing structures. This whole area is surrounded by water so small children should be closely supervised ! As always be aware of your surroundings and be safe !

There are horseshoe pits and game tables but the park is clearly designed for the older population and not for children. When we have visited this park, there tend to be lots of people walking the path for exercise but typically no one using the greenspace as it is smaller than you would find at most parks. There are a few dogs here but all are on leash walling with their owner. There are lots of squirrels and some lovely plants. The noise is minimal even though it is adjacent to a busy area but housing on both sides mean things like arguments and loud gardeners have broken our peace on many occasions. If you are looking for a park with no children in the area, this would be the one.

There are plenty of scenic spots along the way to stop, take it in, and just enjoy being outside. It was nice seeing so many other people out walking and enjoying the space as well. The environment felt very clean, safe, and welcoming. It's also dog-friendly, which is a huge plus if you like bringing your pups along for the day. There are a couple of bathrooms conveniently located along the path, and parking is flexible - you can either find street parking or pay to park inside the park. If you're looking for something more active, they also offer kayak rentals. From what I saw, it's around $25 for a single kayak for an hour, and tandem options are available as well. You can check availability and book online. Overall, this is such a great spot to unwind, get some fresh air, and reconnect with nature. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

Looks like you have to reserve picnic sites but plan accordingly, I rode up on a Garden Club having a flower show in one of the buildings, I went in and was welcomed with open arms. In the evenings you will find area residents walking their pups and on our last visit I saw a bunny that probably hopped over from the one side of the park that is not surrounded by houses. However, when you visit now you will find a lovely, well manicured park with children playing and people walking their dogs. There will even be dogs off-leash in the grassy are and people walking and rollerblading through the paths. There is a playground but drive slow here as you will also find plenty of children playing in the front yards surrounding the park and even shooting hoops in the street. This is a really nice park and I am glad people have learned to bend the rules to take full advantage of it.
