I came to Lodi Lake Park on a whim with a friend after waking up to a beautiful day, and it ended up being exactly what we needed. The entire area is incredibly peaceful and relaxing. The views of the lake are gorgeous, and the sound of the water adds such a calming, almost therapeutic vibe. We walked the full loop around the lake and also explored the nature trails that lead into the wooded areas, which made the experience feel even more immersive. There are plenty of scenic spots along the way to stop, take it in, and just enjoy being outside. It was nice seeing so many other people out walking and enjoying the space as well. The environment felt very clean, safe, and welcoming. It's also dog-friendly, which is a huge plus if you like bringing your pups along for the day. There are a couple of bathrooms conveniently located along the path, and parking is flexible - you can either find street parking or pay to park inside the park. If you're looking for something more active, they also offer kayak rentals. From what I saw, it's around $25 for a single kayak for an hour, and tandem options are available as well. You can check availability and book online. Overall, this is such a great spot to unwind, get some fresh air, and reconnect with nature. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. read more

This nature preserve was a welcoming alternative when I visited these parts of Lodi. There's a different and very calming energy once entering the canopy of hovering cottonwood and oak trees. Stand still to absorb it. Inside this riparian forest I found all sorts of visual designs and patterns, especially with shades, shadows, and light playing in their space. The only distractions I had were the curious squirrels showing off their acorns. I wanted to touch a tree, but I didn't because the hammock-shaped spiderwebs creeped me out a bit. This area was their home. At first, I intended to chill at the section called Lodi Lake Beach. It was closed off with orange nets. I'm guessing it was for the protection of baby turtles. Hello world, little ones This recreational area has various activities for stand-up paddle boarding (SUP), boating, kayaking, fishing, day camping, sunbathing, picnicking, BBQ, biking, walking, wildlife photography, and people-watching, maybe even more. This trail is simply quaint and beautiful! A great kid friendly trail if you wanted to introduce your child to nature. Dogs are not allowed on the trail due to the wildlife. It is very cute for what it is. You will often see deer, fish in the pond, squirrels,and birds ! The trail has bikers and lots of families on the weekend, but I believe when I have visited on the week it has been more calm . The only reason I am taking away one star is sometimes the surrounding is loud and even some people on the path are blasting music on their bikes, which ruins the serenity of an otherwise wonderful trail. read more

This trail is busy, even during the week. If you're wanting to get away from it all, this isn't the place to go. But if you like friendly people, wildlife, and nature, you can't beat it. The trail is well maintained. Trees are the main attraction, along with a beautiful, slow moving river, playful squirrels, lots of geese, and a few deer. A number of different bird species migrate through or stay year round. Take your binoculars if you enjoy birds and wildlife. The trail isn't too long. There are three routes - all ending up at the same place on the far east end. One that hugs the river to the north, one that borders the housing on the south, and one that cuts right through the middle of the other two. I came here with my husband and two dogs on a Monday around 11am. They have an honors system for parking payment. There are envelops that you fill out with your $5 payment to drop in the slot. You start walking around the lake and you come to a sign to turn right for the beach. We turned right and came to a sign that said, "No dogs beyond this point." We went back to the original way and came upon several signs that say, "No dogs in the lawn." At that point, we turned around and went back to our car. My husband felt like this place was sketchy. There was a husband and wife in a dented mini van, going through black trash bags of laundry. There were other questionable people there but there were also mom's pushing strollers and bicycle riders. I felt safe for that time of day. read more

My dad wanted to try out his new Oru Kayak, so we came here. It's a fantastic place to access the Mokelumne River, which if you paddle up you'll enjoy lots of native bird species prowling the banks, view many gorgeous private dwellings with water access, and even vineyards and a railroad tressel. The water is very calm and swallow, making for a relaxed paddle at your own gradual pace. Fisherman seem to love this spot as well. Be sure to drop your monetary contribution into the slot at the parking lot near the entrance when you visit to keep funding nature! Bathrooms are also available to the public in a brick building when you first drive in. Lots of picnic tables around to enjoy, and barbecue pits. read more

There isn't much in the city of Lodi. It's cute but it is a small town on the outskirts of Sacramento. My husband grew up here and has family that still live here so we visited his sick mother last week and had a few hours between visits and seeing family for dinner. He suggested we visited Lodi lake and we easily found parking on the street and walked around the lake until we came across the Nature Trail. It goes into the woods for a ways and then loops back along the lake and water with a small "beach" area. It's very pretty and serene and peaceful. We saw probably about another 15 people during our walk but it was spaced out and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and nature and respecting others by being polite and quiet. The trail has a map at the entrance and also has some markers and plant specimens throughout that are labeled. It was a pretty walk around and took us around 30 minutes total. read more

If you happen to be passing through the City of Lodi, California. One must stop by Lodi Lake ! To be honest with you , I was quite surprised to see such a beautiful lake in the middle of the city! People were fishing from their kayaks as well as from shore, playing with remote control motorized speed boats , and walking their dogs. The lake is surrounded by open space area with a playground, restrooms , covered picnic area's all around the lake, and a paved walkway. Lodi Lake Nature Trail is located in the the nature area of Lodi Lake Park. The nature area consists of 58 acres of nature area which includes part of the Mokelumne River Riparian. No dogs are allowed on the nature trail. The trail itself is approximately a 2 mile loop trail. All along the trail are trail markers describing different varieties of trees (Coast Redwoods, Live Oaks, Cottonwoods, Valley Oak), native plants/ and animals you might come across along the way. Such as different kinds of migrating birds, squirrels, to wild deer. The trail can be walked, jogged, and is wheelchair accessible to some point, depending on weather. I have found Lodi Lake and Nature Area to be very quite and peaceful. Overall a wonderful experience for the whole family to enjoy ! I wanted to save my 1,100 review for someplace special and Lodi Lake is one of those spots for my wife and I. For almost 11 years we take at least 2-3 trips to Lodi for some alone time and always stay at Wine & Roses just up the street from Lodi lake. We take these weekends to unwind, reconnect and enjoy some wine and each other. The reason why this place is so special because at least once a day we end up at Lodi Lake. Whether its to start the day, walk off lunch/wine or dinner its just a great place to come and unwind. This is fed by the Mokelumme river which is this areas main water source for not only water but all of nature and its habitat. There are plenty places to get lost around the trail and even duck out and find a private spot along the river to just chill and relax. What makes this place special is all the wild life that is out here. I have come across deer, foxes, coyotes, tons of squirrels.... Back at park which we have never taken advantage of is the great swimming area and they also have a pool for smaller kids. With Covid not sure of any of that being open but in past years have always seen lots of families hanging out. What's nice about this park is that if one place might be a little crowded then just head around the lake and your sure to find a spot less crowded. They also have tons of open space for picnics and any family outings. I also know in other times they rent boats, kayaks and paddle boards but again with TY not sure of the availability. If you are in the area fir any reason and needing some rest and relaxation then head over to Lodi Lake Nature Trail. read more

This review is specifically just for Lodi Lake Park as I have not been on the Lodi Lake Nature Trail yet. I didn't know about the trail until I came to Yelp to write a review about Lodi Lake! Can't wait to come back to check out the Nature Trail. Lodi Lake Park is a gem and gems must be treasured. I like coming here to sit on the wooden planks right near the kayak rental and stand up paddle boarding area. My friends and I have brought a picnic blanket and some snacks and just chill and catch up with one another while watching people do calm watersports activities. I hope to kayak or try stand up paddle boarding here, but I don't have much time left in California. If you are a resident of Lodi, you pay $4 for parking. If not, it is $5. There was an attendant in a booth at the entrance collecting fees, but when there is not, you can self-pay by putting cash or a check into an envelope and dropping it into a box. You rip a part of the envelope off to put on your dashboard in your car. Parking seems plentiful for the times I've come here. Lodi Lake Park feels safe and is beautiful. Small town vibes for the win! There is also a burger place right across the street called Sno White where you can get chicken nuggets, fries, hamburgers, soda, that kind of fast food and just walk it over to the park! read more

This lake is beautiful and perfect for biking, jogging, swimming, & boating. If you're a Lodi resident, it's $4 for parking and if you're not, then it's $5 for parking. My family and I went on a long bike ride along the trail. We spotted deers here and they were so cute! There's some people on the trail, but there's enough room to social distance. As far as parks go, this is a nice as it gets. I have been visiting Lodi Lake all my life. In the summer they have boat rentals and places to BBQ. There are two separate playground areas for kids. The best part, however, is the nature trail. I went for a walk here with my friend last Friday and we saw three fawns frolicking through the trees. It was amazing. You'll also see tons of duck, geese, small birds, squirrels and maybe even a turtle or two. I always see people here fishing. The park is beautiful and peaceful and well maintained. read more

I was a lifeguard here, at the lake in the 1970's. Worked as a Cub Scout Day Camp leader here too in high school. At Tokay High School, I took a science course taught by Mr. Johnson- Natural History of the Lodi Area. Each week we took a field trip to parks and even vacant lots to learn plant recognition, insects, vertebrates, and invertebrates, plus soil science. We did our research projects in the newly opened nature area. This is classic riparian terrain with vegetation species you would have likely seen pre-European contact. Haven't lived or even visited Lodi much, but I'm thinking of taking our kayaks out with a group of friends shortly. read more

Had the best day in the water today. I went kayaking with a friend and she did the paddle board. The boat rental process was easy on the phone and they were so helpful. I'm in a wheelchair and everything was ada accessible. The hill down to the boathouse is blacktop but a little steep when I went back up but was doable. Brianna was very helpful. We filled out waiver, paid $5 parking fee and we were on our way. There is a easy ramp and sturdy dock that it a thick plastic, so no getting stuck between boards in a wheelchair. The plastic is hot so wear flip flops or socks for your feet. There is a sturdy hand rail to help get in and out of kayak and they will push or pull you into the water. We brought our own life jackets but they have them there. Bring towels, sunscreen, water and a camera. Wished I had printed a map to know where to go on the water but everyone that was out on the water was kind and very helpful letting us know where to go. It is a Great Lake with a mossy bottom. Water was clear and you will see geese, fish, cat tails and even water lilies. Water was still and it was peaceful and fun to discover beautiful areas at every turn. I will definitely be a regular now and felt safe on the water. I got the largest kayak to avoid tipping over but the water was so calm it wasn't necessary. I loved our hour long adventure and wished we had rented for a half day. The lake turns into the mokelumne river and I guess is 95 miles if winding water ways. Great for families, kids, beginners and those of us in a wheelchair. Definitely a must for your bucket list. read more

It's a cute park with a lot of space to hang out. I thought it was a bigger lake initially. We went to do a little family kayaking. Nice place to launch and go out to the Mokelumne River. Water was really calm with no much current. Kids made short attempt at fishing, but did catch anything. Nice place if it was closer to home. But since it was about 45 min away I rather go to someplace with a larger lake for paddling. They do have kayak rentals there which is great for families that want to try it. read more

Lodi Lake is a Beautiful Park & many, many people visit our Little Piece of Paradise. The one thing that really Needs to be pointed out though is that the Nature Trail Area is a "NO DOG AREA" Dogs are Not Allowed in the Nature Trail Area! there's other area's within the Park that you can walk with your Dogs. The Nature Trail is quite often abused by visitors & it's very Heartbreaking when we see the Wildlife, the Nature Trail & Park being taken for granted & Completely Disrespected! There's at least 8 signs posted & 5 are right at the Entrance Gate!!! that state "NO DOGS"! Animal Control Patrols there Daily , multiply times Daily & violations can result in a Fine up to $500.00!!! So Please, if You bring your Dog....Stay out of the Nature Trail Area!!! There's quite a few Deer, some with Babies, Fox, Raccoons...within the Nature Trail & so much more! There's multiple reasons for the Nature Trail to be Completely Dog Free!!! So please Respect the Laws & Rules!!! So come & enjoy Our Park but we do ask that You respect the Laws & Rules & help make sure that this Beautiful Park stays Beautiful!!! Thank You read more

My first visit to Lodi Lake, even though I grew up in Stockton.....and I kinda wish I had visited earlier than this. First of all, parking is super easy. You can park in the inside lot for only $4, or you can park on the street for free. The central valley has this plus over the bay area, definitely. There are several trails: the main trail around the lake, and then another trail leading to the swimming beach, with lots of mini-trails branching out all over. There are both paved and unpaved trails. I came here on a Friday, later in the morning. There were already a couple of school groups and lots of dog walkers, but it wasn't terribly crowded either. Some pretty houses line part of the path around the lake and there were a couple of people lounging on their front porches. Once on the trails farther in, there were much fewer people which made for a peaceful walk. When I did pass people, everyone was friendly, giving me a nod or a smile as we passed each other. The best part for me? A poke-stop every two minutes walk! read more

Friday came at 7pm with my husband and our 4 & 11 year old daughters. The trail was shaded throughout with so many trees it was beautiful! they area is also well maintained and not trashed like many trails. I loved it here will definitely come back on my own just to relax. perfect for my kids but would recommend to wear actual tennis shoes because there is a lot of dirt. I definitely felt like I was in wooded areas in remote locations when deep .25 mile into the trail. not much people were on the trail which was nice. the areas surrounding the lake there were plenty of swimmers and boaters and families enjoying themselves. also seen a few groups of teens who just spent the day out on the water passing by, they didn't bother anyone. highly recommended. read more

Lodi Lake is my second favorite place to watch 4th of July fireworks. Sorry Lodi...Disneyland gets my favorite spot. I still think Lodi Lake is a total 5 star spot. If you want to do some lake swimming during the summer or watch the fireworks for the 4th it always seems pretty darn amazing. It really is a nice lake just kinda sittin' out there in the outskirts of Lodi. At least that is always how I saw it. I used to come here with my friends a whole bunch when I went to high school in Lodi. Often we were up to no good but fun was always had. Fast forward a few years and I had an old Mustang that I took to car shows and some of the memorable car shows just happened to be at Lodi Lake. Usually they were around the back in the park area....allllll the way around the other side. If I remember right the lake being there has something to do with damning the Mokelumne River and if I remember right they used to drain the river every winter for upkeep. It was always fun to see the lake with no water in it every once and a while. People either love or hate Lodi Lake...I think I was lucky growing up in a community where you knew your neighbors, we had good schools and we had great community facilities like Lodi Lake. :0) read more

I love Lodi Lake, I grew up in Lodi, and now take my kids there when I am in town. I am a photographer and take many portraits there and the backdrops are perfect. It's a great place to explore, the nature in the back always has new things to explore. And, don't forget the rumor of the crocodile in the canal, that no one has ever seen! The last few times I have been there, I have noticed a rougher crowd, loud music, alcohol. BUT, compared to bigger cities, like Stockton and Sacramento, it's not bad and still very family friendly. I have not been to the beach area in years, I know they have made a lot of improvements, so I am sure it's as good as ever! read more

This place is awesome! It's a little park nearby neighborhoods. It has a huge lake with geese/ducks that walk around. You can feed them and hangout with them. A little more into the area they have a trail where you can walk through the forest. The forest has a lot of squirrels and deer. You are literally so close to the deer that you can touch them but I wouldn't touch them for safety reasons. The trail has other people walking on it as well so I felt safe! read more

Drove through recently and was so thankful to have such a beautiful, nature esque gem in Lodi. Even in the winter months, when the lake is low, the scenery is still beautiful. On the day I visited, I was lucky enough to drive right in, no charge for being in the park. I was able to drive around and admire the area at no cost. Lucky me. Lodi Lake is a great place to have a picnic, take a nature walk, or just wander around the grounds. A must visit if you've never been. read more

I came to this lake park on Saturday afternoon with my fiance, uncle and Cocker Spaniel. We were lucky to come on in w/o needing to pay the fee at the booth (my uncle said that there are people at the booth sometimes and sometimes not, so the luck of the draw... but remember, your fee goes to maintaining the park) and headed towards the back to check out the dog area (dog bags are provided here). My uncle brought his telescope and did his bird watching thing. My fiance and I, with our little dog, walked around the area. This place is very pretty and bigger than I expected. With a tiny city like Lodi, I would not have guessed this place would exist here. The lake was calm and has a lot to offer (swimming in the summer I have heard from my uncle, canoeing, kayaking, lake fishing, etc). And since I am engaged, I immediately thought this place would be a wonderful place for engagement photos (I've already done mine, but if I lived up here, I would probably pick this location to do them). There is even a little trail you could go for a nice little walk, giving you that wilderness outdoorsy feel. The next time I am in Lodi (even w/ my little doggie), I would come back to check out this park. read more

This is where Our family made memories with family get-togethers, weekend picnics, and 4th of July extravaganzas. Wanted to get away from Tracy and found out that Lodi has a lake. My sister and her partner called the ranger station or whatever number was online and yelp for information over 10 times and not once did they answer... Them answering would of change the stars of my review but unfortunately they did not.. We arrived at the lake and the park ranger at the booth did not know much of any information. He informed us that the beach part to the lake is closed and begins to tell us that there is a swimming pool were we can cool off. We paid the $5 (non Lodi residents) ($4 if u are). We parked full of excitement got all of out stuff ready to go to the pool only to see the life guard closing it bc a little kid threw up in the pool! Uhg seriously?? Well with no other purpose than coming to the lake to cool off and there is no pool as well we had nothing else to do but leave. Thus we told the ranger and received our $5 back and left. read more

The nature trail is nice except when there's kids around that aren't being controlled by their parents. I went there for the first time a few weeks ago and we came up on some fawns (wow!) but they were quickly scared off by screeching children running around. Bummer. Didn't see/hear anything after that except for the rowdy kids. Kind of takes away the ambience of the place. Otherwise it was very pretty albeit a little muddy but there's places to skirt around. Grounds were well kept and the lake itself beautiful as always. Nice to have this little gem nearby, can't wait to bring my dogs back for a swim once it starts warming up again! read more

Definitely a hidden Beauty. It did seem too impressive in the outside because it was so open to the Main Street but once you go more deep inside the main trail, it was peaceful and clean. The trail on the left of the park was short but the one on the right through the gate. That one was much more scenic. you could see deers, big trees, people fishing, water view, and birds. There was one main paved path and two other dirt paths. In the center of the lake you could find picnic spaces, boat launch dock, parking (awkward because not too wide for two cars to use) and bathrooms also. Must pay to come in their private parking lot but you can park on the street for free (Turner and laurel street were great spots). One thing I don't like about the park was that the access or available of entrance ramp or marked pedestrian, car, and bike spaces weren't as define or easy to spot because it could be dangerous and tight at places. read more

Being new to an area can be a challenge, especially if you're a runner. Where do I go? Where is a safe place to run? I tried out Lodi Lake today and I'm glad I did! It's trails are mostly shaded, it's clean and open. There were other people there walking, jogging, cycling, with their kids and dogs, so I felt very safe. I parked right on the street and headed into the park for a jog. My only wish I'd that the walking/bike trail went ALL the way around the lake. Other than that, great place to go! After my run I sat on a little dock and did my stretching, etc while taking in the lake view and watching the ducks. Great way to start my day!!! read more
