Our 3 year old daughter has been going to Victoria Montessori for about 8 months. We were looking…read morefor a preschool with a balance of structured activities, and exploration oriented learning. The larger, more "traditional" preschools we visited were often chaotic, and the teachers looking frazzled. The environment at Victoria Montessori was calmer, and felt less like we were putting our kid in a bounce house for the whole day. The educational philosophy of the Montessori style is evident from the many activities they have set out. The school is family run; Sandra (the director) and her family are quite kind and patient with the kids. Sandra is more involved with the administrative aspects of the school, but she is still there every day and our daughter likes her. The others, Melissa and Ms. Kenley (who are there part-time) are very sweet and take a genuine interest in the well-being of the kids. Melissa is often there in the morning and is always cheerful, and helps get our daughter excited for the day even when she's a little sleepy from dropping her off early. Gary and BJ, who help open and close the school, are also very friendly and good with the kids. It's hard to know how what your child is doing at school every day, but since she's started, with a little help she can count to 100 and do simple addition/subtraction, she knows all the letters and can start sounding out words, and can write recognizable letters on her own. When we're at the bookstore or library, she recognizes books (by the cover) that she's seen at school and can tell us what the story is about. Of course, so much of your child's development is reinforced by what you're doing at home, but we're very happy with how she's progressing at school. At a minimum, we all like her teachers, she tells us she has a good day almost every day, and comes home with art or letter tracing she's worked on. Outside of school hours (8:45 to 3:15) there isn't really any active teaching or structured activity and the school is day-care, though this is typical of all pre-school programs. They do provide snacks, although it's not always the most nutritious (animal crackers, or a muffin). Sometimes on Friday afternoons after school hours, they show Disney movies, but otherwise don't have screen time during the rest of the week. The outdoor play area could use some renovation, but maybe that will come when they get more kids. At time of writing, there are only 7-10 kids there each day (fewer in summer) with 2 or 3 teachers. If you're considering bringing your child here, do ask Sandra and the teachers about their teaching philosophy and decide if it's a good fit for your family. Nothing can replace the parenting that takes place when are home with your child, but we're grateful for the love and support that Victoria Montessori has offered for our daughter.

Having worked in one for many years I know how hard it is to give every child the attention he deserves. I also thought that a while a Montessori school would have been a better fit for my little guy it would be too expensive. I was pleased to find that the rates at VMS are very affordable. Even more comforting was the fact that he was their first student! So I knew that he would have an incredibly easy transition from being at home. I know that both Mr. Randy and Mrs. Sandra love having my little monster in their class and it makes me feel great knowing that he is happy there. The one thing that would get them a 5 star rating from me is if they took electronic payments like cards.

The Director Joanne, Assistant Director RJ, and Toddler Teachers Ms. Cami and Ms. Helen have been a God-send. They have and continuously uphold high standards, truly care about the wellbeing and education of your child, and are genuinely invested in having your family as a part of their community. It was a steep learning curve for myself, being anxious entrusting my treasure and heart to complete strangers, but through transparent communication and above and beyond efforts from the individuals above, trust and bonds were quickly built. The teachers are always focused on interacting with the children at their level and are so engaged during every moment of everyday. Both teachers put in so much time and effort, not only for the children, but also the classroom environment, so that the children truly get the best experience possible!! The consistency of attendance with the teachers are also outstanding and rare for the field!! My husband and I truly feel so grateful for these 4 individuals in helping our child during this crucial development period in her life and for helping us, her parents, get through the difficult pages of these early chapters **pictures depicting children have been edited and screenshotted to protect their privacy**

From the very beginning, the environment has felt warm, welcoming, and supportive. The teachers and admin staff are so kind and caring, and it's clear they truly love what they do. They always take a few minutes to chat during drop-off and pick-up, which makes me feel connected and reassured about how my little one's day is going. The staff always rave about my little one and how cute and wonderful they are. Warms my heart. One of my favorite things is receiving pictures throughout the day. It's so comforting to see my little one smiling, playing, and being well cared for while I'm at work. I also really appreciate how the teachers partner with parents and share Montessori activities we can try at home. It's been so special to learn simple ways to support my child's development and continue some of the same learning and exploration outside of school. I'm so grateful for the care and attention the staff provides, and it has given me such peace of mind knowing my baby is in such good hands. I would absolutely recommend Evergreen Academy Montessori to other families looking for a nurturing, supportive environment for their children.

One of the benefits of…read morehaving our children in full time childcare at Main Street Kids in the same building is that the two schools take the kids back and forth. Without this unique partnership, it would be difficult to have them in the 3 hour EM program as a dual working parent household. Both have greatly benefited from the Montessori method. Our oldest was already reading and writing before kindergarten and has advanced fine motor skills from all the activities she was able to do during her time at EM. Our youngest is already on her way to early reading, writing and loves doing the self directed projects. Being able to adapt between the EM learning environment and a traditional preschool environment set our oldest up for success in kindergarten and I'm sure our youngest will be just as prepared. Both have developed confidence and a love for learning that we wholeheartedly attribute to the Montessori approach to learning. Christi, the owner, and the teachers (Ms. Ella, Ms. Hana) are wonderful and caring. Throughout the year, there are fun traditions to look forward to as well. Can't say enough good things about this school! If your kids are approaching age 3 or older/or if you're thinking ahead and interested, highly recommend touring and seeing it for yourself!

One of my children has sensory needs and the structure and amazing teachers really helped her work through a lot of hurdles. She graduated with confidence personally and educationally for the next steps ahead. My other child loves being a part of the group and his favorite time of day is "circle time" where the children explore topics such as the sound of the week building on reading skills and socially sharing about different items from their homes. It's a pretty special place and we would highly recommend. For an extended morning, lunch bunch is a great way to make the session 1 hour longer and the kids get to eat together and play inside/outside after school.

If you want me to make it easier for parents, I can post a video with my court records, your declarations, and the voice call with the judge, all of which are public records. How dare you call me a liar? Everything I said is part of the public record, and if needed, I can provide proof and evidence that what I'm saying is true. I'm not trying to destroy your business or "school." I'm simply telling parents how you can lie about household issues that you don't even know about. Why would I lie about this? This happened almost 9 years ago, and you're still trying to convince people that my review is false. So what exactly are you saying? That you never testified against me? Or that I never picked up my child from your school? What exactly am I lying about?

Our child was there just a bit over a year and had 13 different teachers. One left during her shift and never came back, many others assured us they would be sticking around but then dropped like flies. The entire school seems to be a revolving door of staff which is never a good sign. Promises kept changing as they upped the number of kids in the rooms but continued to brag about how fantastic their ratios were. Sure they added teachers to the rooms but then teachers kept quitting and were complaining about not having proper breaks and staffing. There were ongoing requests to donate money and supplies to the classrooms - maybe it would have made sense to just increase the tuition by 10 or 20 bucks a month- I'm happy not to have to deal with this at our new daycare. Our journey ended when it became apparent that the children weren't being properly supervised and due to a safety issue we had to make a complaint to childcare licensing. The director then decided to send out updates about our complaint in emails and in Facebook posts where other staff and parents were allowed to mock the situation. Very unprofessional especially considering that the state department of licensing was in the process of citing them for lack of appropriate supervision. Licensing also helped deal with the issue of the staff not having kids regularly wash their hands (like when they came in from outside to eat meals). I feel for some of the teachers who were good but couldn't stick around. The idea behind this school is great and it would be awesome if well executed and managed.

However, the management was not consistent and had a lot of knee-jerk reactions to situations which affected our child's well being. They were very inconsistent with what they promised versus what was delivered. They claim to be child-led in philosophy, but the decisions made didn't seem to have the children's best interest in mind, rather, what was best for the administration and school seemed to be prioritized. Additionally, they were terrible at dealing with issues that arose with parents. Myself and several other parents I knew at the school were consistently told "well, group care isn't for everyone" or "that's why some people decide to hire a nanny" EVERY SINGLE TIME there was an issue--big or small. This led to fearing we were being told to leave the school. After leaving and seeing how other facilities operate and handle issues with parents, I am very glad we made the decision to leave.
