Staff at the The Palladeum specialise in head massage (which let's face it, is half the fun of a salon visit). Your visit begins with a chat and consultation, then it's onto a quick shoulder rub which sets the scene for relaxing and 'me time'. Be prepared. If you weren't aware of the shoulder rub, it could be awkward! Owner Meshelle is great at what she does and often takes part in fashion week shows; also this is a Redke salon. The Palladeum's soundtrack is always outstanding, as they invest in specialist recordings. It ranges from reworked dance classics to somewhat ambient music that again encourages relaxtion. The staff are all really lovely and the salon is very stylish. I went here recently on a whim and just had my hair washed and straightened, and I was very pleasently surprised with the service. Abache salon uses a range of organic hair products that have minimal nasties in them. So instead of the chemical laidened shampoo and conditioner you find at other salons, you get a much nicer treatment here. This is great for the staff, and the clients. The basin area is called the "Relaxation Zone" it is in a seperate room and there is a fish tank in the ceiling and calming music played in this area. The lighting is lower and the basins are probably the most comfortable I have ever sat at. They have a long lounge type chair that stretches out in front of them, and the layout allows the hair stylist to be able to wash your hair from behind you. The position of the basin means that the head massage that you get when your hair is washed is to die for! Very relaxing! The over all service at this salon was second to none, and the pricing was very reasonable - I will definitely be going back.

They have a good team of 4 hairdressers. They are always happy and friendly and they are on a first name basis with all of their customers. They do men's and women's hair including Colors, plus for men they shave very well with good attention to detail. They also do waxing and other various womens treatments that are beyond me haha Always a good cut, always happy to fit you in. :)

The Next Cut, however, is an excellent little hairdressers run by Willy, a man with over 30 years experience under his belt. He is knowledgeable in the importance of matching a style to a face shape, as well as the types of hair and how they "behave", and can explain what may and may not work for you. On the other hand, if you do have a style you like, he will gladly work with it and let you know how to maintain it for a while. Other services include men's haircuts, hair dying, make-up, and ask him about his dress-making! Appointments not always necessary for haircuts, but it might be worth calling first as Willy both runs the place and is the only employee there.

The last time I had my tresses trimmed, the poor stylist was working on three customers simultaneously, plus manning phone appointments. She did an excellent job though and I commend her for that. I would love to see a dedicated set of stylists working on each available customer as I feel it's important for a hair stylist to make a connection with their respective clientele. Not every stylist can understand your hair type or stylist needs, hence I doubt I will be a regular here. On a positive note, the prices are reasonable and they usually hold regular promos to encourage foot traffic to the salon. My last visit saw me paying less than $50 for a wash, cut and blow.

When I arrived, my stylist Michelle took my personal details in my very own hair profile card and later, took me through the process of my hair colour treatment. With colour in my hair, a good fashion magazine to feed my fashion hunger pang, a glass of water and chocs (compliments of the salon) and 30 minutes later, I was whisked into another room to wash the colour off. I was greeted with candles, dim lights, soothing music and a TV screen featuring a slide show of beaches and the sea. The ambience was delightfully good and it reminded me of a spa room in Asia. Let me tell you about the chair next to the basin. This is not your regular salon chair, this one reclines like a dentist chair and it massages too....oh, imagine those gentle strokes to your back after a full day of shopping. Whilst my stylist washed and massaged my hair, I drifted away..almost asleep to some exotic Asian beach, lazing on a hammock and sipping coconut shells amidst a backdrop of a sunset. Ok, dream over but it was a wonderful experience and needless to say, I stepped out feeling good and energized. This is definitely a salon that carries excellent customer service and goes out of its way in ensuring the customers has an enjoyable hair experience. I'm coming back for my next appointment and this time, I'm handcuffing myself to that massage chair!

The service, and their ability to cut my hair the way I want it make me want to go back. I know I'm going to walk out with exactly what I wanted.
