I have had a very difficult time getting a great prescription over the past few decades, and as a result I've had some difficulties with my progressive lenses performing well, until now. I'm so incredibly happy with my new prescription and the lenses that I had created through Dr Gandia's office, I had to tell you all about it. A few years earlier I had a very thorough exam, prescription and lenses created by another very well respected optometrist in Lihue, at the cost of about $200 more, and they were not as accurate or as perfectly focused as these new eye glass lenses that Dr Gandia and her great staff have now created for me. The selection here is great! It's catered to Kauai's unique clientele. They had all the good brands! Ray ban, Oakley, Maui Jim to name a few. So much selection- it took me a while to choose. Yet, Hawaii is not a place for major purchases--things ain't cheap here. I phoned a local 1-hour optician and ask for an appointment, until I'm told that eye exams run from $180-$1,000. Then, I have to purchase the eyeglasses! So, I'm bracing myself for a major expenses for eye and exam and 1-hour eyeglasses and in desperation, I phone Dr. Duane Rowe at COSTCO and I'm told that exams are generally $100. We get an appointment for the next morning. Dr. Duane is friendly, very competent, and saved us many hundreds of dollars! With his eye exam, he also fitted my wife for contacts and provided her with a trail pair. Also, he speaks Spanish really well. Not common in these parts. OUTSTANDING (located inside COSTCO, tho you don't need a member to enter for any eye appointment.)

I would rank them MINUS 10 if I could. Reasons: Months to get an appointment and I gave them 3 reasons that I needed care; I told receptionist 3 reasons I needed care; After over 2 1/2 hours WAIT, I told technician what I needed testing for and problems. I waited longer!!!, then when the doctor finally saw me, she did not even seem concerned that the tech had not tested me for the indications I had asked. She looked in my eyes with her little light and said make another appointment. NO apology, no empathy. When I explained to receptionist that I had already paid for the visit, but would like one on a day that I would not have to wait hours and that I would like to have a Free appointment, she said, "Oh, Doctor's time is too valuable and she Always has a wait. You MUST pay." I said, "I MUST find another doctor. I wish that I could bill you for your discourtesy and for wasting my time, not to mention that my health needs were NOT met."
