We ordered and were promptly served out crepes and coffee within a matter of minutes and as expected fresh and tasty. I deduct one star from my rating because the cream would have been better served if whipped slightly and my berries were still cold from the freezer. It could only have improved my experience overall if they were fresh even if that meant reducing the quantity or maybe amusing a homemade compote sauce from the berries. The whipped cream is just a personal grievance. Price is well suited to speed, quality, hospitality and environment. Would recommend highly if you're in the area.

If the 5m long menu board isn't overwhelming enough for your taste buds make sure you DO NOT LOOK at the food cabinet on the way up to making your order as it will just confuse you more. The first time I went here I was distracted by so many things on the menu that I went for the safe eggs and coriander on rye option. A bit disappointed at the cost versus size of the meal my experience was slightly tainted. But as I sipped on my Ginger Zinger drink that was like star anise and gingery lemon jesus juice in a cup I looked closer at the menu and at what people were eating. It seemed that their big pancake and their roti wraps are the way to go. Upon my return to give this place a second shot I ordered a vegetarian twist on a bacon and egg wrap and, despite a bucket load of sauce and a fair amount of oil, I was impressed. As Laura said though, aside from the Ginger Zinger, the other highlight here is the bowls of coffee they serve. I visit sleepy Semaphore quite a lot, as the old parent-shaped people live that way, and it was only relatively recently that I stumbled across this haven of Scandinavian delights. And I'm not just talking about the cute mustachioed barista. Complementing the birch tree wall art and Viking paraphernalia (I'm a huge sucker for Viking paraphernalia) is a tasty menu of baked goodies that are fresh, sweet and plentiful - as well as Swedish-inspired specialties like elderflower drinks and traditional waffles. Any country that has a TRADITION of waffles is all right by me. They seem to be undergoing renovations at the moment, but the place is still very cute, with kitschy Swedish accessories, some chandelier action, as well as the aforementioned radical Viking stuff. There always seems to be a queue here which is also a good sign - and, super importantly, the coffee is solid. ALSO: THEY SERVE COFFEE IN A BOWL. A bowl, people. My partner had a baguette with was beautiful and fresh, as were the ingredients that were used inside it. Upon leaving we were asked how everything was. There were definitely no complaints. The shop is also situated where the sun isn't going to cause any problems. I mention this because if you've been to the Subway at Gepps Cross Homemaker Centre you'll know what I mean. On a hot day having that sun stream through the window can make for uncomfortable dining. Thankfully that's a non issue here.

All the colours work together, green being their spark of colour. And certain little touches of green are really clever. For example, I brought my dogs along to the café and I was handed two green bones on a plate for them to enjoy! How sweet is that? Do you know any other cafes that offer your pups a treat? Not many that is for sure! The menu is simple, but well thought out. I ordered the DIY Brekkie, which you have poached eggs and toast as the base and you can add other items. I decided on haloumi and avocado. Eggs were cooked prefect. But only one slice of bread? It was quite a costly meal of over $20, so I thought I would get two slices at least. Oh well... My partner tried the truffle scrambled eggs. Which I thought was much better value. So much flavour and cooked really well. Fluffy and not overdone! I am glad to see this café in Aldgate. It became apparent that a second staff was needed. Food came intermittently, which is understandable as we didn't order together. Having said that, one of the ladies who ordered first had to wait till everyone received their food before hers came. Hangry would aptly described her emotions. The food was delicious! I had the croque monsieur. Never heard of it before, I took a gamble and was pleasantly surprised. I had the beef pie for $14, which came with a small salad (no dressing though) and fries. You could tell the pie was homemade and not coming from a freezer. Very tasty and in terms of size I think the dishes are alright for the prices they charge. One thing that bothered me very much though is that the waitress came clearing the plates of the 3 people that were with me while I was still eating. That's an absolute no-go and would be a reason for me not to go back. However, the food was very good so I still recommend the place.

The decor is as the name suggests and quite simple but lots of seating with also spots outside. Magazines and papers to read if you get the time on the weekend. The food: I have had eggs benedict here, great sauce and well cooked eggs - the mexican nachos are to die for! SO yummy and not too spicy - they came as a recommendation from our waitress, Marie. She also suggested the mexican jacket potato but I went with nachos. :) Marie was very helpful, very patient with my indecisiveness! Also one of the few places that sell hot dogs! I have gone with the Hillbilly's special before with avocado, tomato, cheese and aioli and their special sauce - so delicious! I love a good hot dog and its a decent portion too. As you can probably tell, I have always had consistently good food here and I just love Blackwood so I come here often. I forgot to mention the juices are also pretty good - go the immune boost! Only negative is that the hours are not always consistent - the manager sometimes will close if its not busy. I completely understand but as a consumer this can make it hard to plan a visit.
