Origin Craft Beer & Pizza Cafe was introduced to us by friends and family, and I'm really glad it was. This is only the second time we've seen our 5-year-old completely devour an entire pizza--once in California and now here in Florida. Considering we live in what's supposedly the pizza capital of NYC, that probably says more than anything else about this place. The service was great. Everyone was genuinely kind, and since our friends and family are regulars, they were greeted like old friends and we were welcomed just as warmly. The pizza itself was excellent. Even the basic cheese pizza stood out, which is usually the real test. We also ordered the 1837 and a jalapeño pizza, and everything was demolished without hesitation. We also noticed a solid beer selection, and everyone seemed to be enjoying theirs as well. You order at the bar and they bring the food out, and there's also outdoor seating which looked really nice. Our go to spot for quick and easy pizza in Sarasota! We have ordered from Origin multiple times through different methods - online pickup, Uber Eats, etc and have had consistently good pizza and wings! Their wings get a special shoutout for being high quality and clearly fresh. We love their buffalo sauce as it stands out from the typical Franks used at most places. This past weekend we ordered pizza, wings and salad for the Fourth of July and were impressed by the consistent quality and time delivery even on a holiday. Grabbed a few pizzas while in town: a sicilian style pepperoni, a gf siesta sands w turkey sausage, and reg crust ham and pineapple. Went to go pick up and they were ready like they said they'd be. The pickup area was at the bar which was fine, people already chillin and having some Sat night beers. Great little place with kind service and tasty brews and pizza! Tried a sour and ipa on draft both equally delicious (wish draft beer could be colder)! Had an origin salad with toasted feta and red bell pepper on top it was great i ate mine without any salad dressing a big variety of veggies. Went with a cheese mushroom on cauliflower crust, jalapeno pep regular crust and the veggie specialty pizza. All were great the jalepeno pep was my fav! Can't believe it's been so long since our last visit but Origins remains popular and warm welcoming, not to mention excellent food. Jenica single-handedly handled both the bar and order taking with a smile. The place was busy given the Buc's football game but she kept the beers flowing. Our origin salad with roasted vegetables was terrific as were our pizzas. My wife had the Siesta Key pizza with turkey sausage while I opted for sausage, mushroom, onion and green pepper pizza. The crust is relatively thin and doughy so it absorbs the toppings and oil. The Buc's clinched their division and we all celebrated. Plenty of parking between a private lot and the street. Near the hospital so quiet on Sundays. I understand the wings are very good so perhaps next time? Coming soon to the Rosemary District as well. read more

My friend and I have come in here multiple times and one time we got greeted with a waitress who was nice at first, but as we were paying for our food, we didn't tip her over 20% because she didn't really have amazing service. All she did was give us our food, no conversation or anything and all I had ordered was a side salad which was around 9 dollars. She proceeded to yell at me and my friend because we didn't tip her enough and call us little girls and call us very rude things. We just went there again as we have multiple times after that incident but this time we got her again. she came up to us and refused to serve us. she was being extremely rude to us because the past time we saw her which was a few months ago, we didn't tip her more than 20%. I asked her why and she didn't have a reason and said she didn't have to give us one. We have informed many people about this and it has prevented a ton of people from going here. She kicked us out basically and told the other worker who was a male that he couldn't serve us. We will be reporting this as well. she has red/brown hair I'm not too sure. this is insane behavior from a grown woman and it seems like there's something mentally incorrect. read more

I cannot stress this enough, best pizza I've ever had!!! My go-to order is Hot Buffalo Wings, The Doc (gluten-free) pizza, well-done, light cheese, black olives, basil, and HOT HONEY. Pizza and stomboli we had were both good (hard to find edible pizza in FL; this is way better than average but the bar IS low) Only thing that frustrated me was the thimble of marinara they give you with the Stromboli. Ask for more and they charge you a dollar. Now a dollar isnt a lot, and I dont mean to sound petty, but it's the principle of it. Dont nickel and dime customers... Small location with limited seating, but if you get there at the right time it's both delightful food and great beer selection.

Avoid the veggie pizza it can be soggy but otherwise, one of the few places in Sarasota open late and the pizza is pretty good.

Honestly, if I could I would give this place 4.5 stars, but I will err on the side of fairness and call it a special place, which it actually is... Located at one end of a short outdoor, strip mall the place is bar and restsurant treating each one with equal care. We basically sat in what I would call the restaurant area, small and cozy but with enough seating to take care a couple of larger crowds that entered after we arrived. Our service was super efficient and supremely friendly and took care of all our needs, questions, and refills. For dinner my wife had their Stromboli - a massive piece of Italian pie we both ended up enjoying. I had the Mediterranean platter, which was good except for the overcooked falafel and the dry chicken. None to worry as the rest of it made up for those two nits. I particularly was impressed with their craft beer menu which reach to almost all parts of Florida - it was hard trying to decide what to have. I am vacationing in Sarasota and needed late night food. Origin (a little bar that's open til 2 and has wings, pizza, and salads) was recommended and only 8 minutes from my hotel. It was a cozy place with good food and interesting craft beers. The bartender was a bit of grace in my day. She's a good conversationalist, kind (I'd had a day), and she gave great recommendations. She even helped sort a problem I had when I actually forgot to take my paid can of beer with me. (Told you I had a day.) The pizza was yummy. I had veggie on a cauliflower crust. Even surprised us with a nice "thank you" for moving over a table so a larger table could move two tables together with ours. Five stars might be a little bit optimistic but Origin Craft Beer & Pizza is just too good to only get four stars. First and foremost, their selection of beers is outstanding. I actually became aware of one of my top three favorite beers on one of my early visits here (Elysian Space Dust). The next impressive hallmark is their strombolis and pizza although I usually go with the stromboli. The salads are huge and very well made. They also offer some of the best chicken wings in Sarasota. It's not a huge menu but what they make, they make well. The staff is fantastic and the owner is a blast. He's just the right mixture of quality conscious and crazy personality. Many of the customers are regulars here which always gives the place a little bit of a "Cheers" kind of feel when you go in. Wether your looking for a cold craft beer, a great pizza / stromboli or amazing wings, Origin should be at the top of your list. I don't always get here as often as I would like, but you can be assured I will be back. read more

Came here to grab a late lunch before leaving on a flight from the Sarasota airport. It was an odd time of day so the place was very empty. We sat at the bar and the bartender/ waitress was very friendly. We ordered a pizza with broccoli and prosciutto. It was just ok. Nothing bad, just nothing stood out. We also ordered a side of wings. We got into town late Sunday night. With all the coronavirus stuff going on, I had to search for a place that was actually open for dine in. Lucky this place was! They have a decent draft list and some wine. The employee and owner were really nice. They got kind of busy so we didn't get much attention at that point but it's okay, they were working hard and we got what we needed. I got the Origin salad, which was fresh and delicious! I love the salad dressing. My bf got the wings trifecta style. He really liked them. I tried one and I agree, very good. A bit of a kick but not too much. Things seemed a little out of ordinary due to social distancing restrictions, so I can't really speak on the look or feel of the restaurant. It was clean though. Overall, great place.
