Let's start with this...Shaner's is one of my absolute favorite pizza places that I've ever eaten. I'm not from the area but whenever I'm in Siesta Key I will stop and have a pizza at Shaner's. It's so good I ate it two nights in a row! First night we dined in, had "Shane's Favorite" (pepperoni, sausage, red onion, mushroom), and a side of homemade mozzarella sticks. Unbelievable with the perfect crisp crust...the sauce is amazing, everything about this pizza is perfect! Mozzarella sticks are equally good...homemade, not store bought. Marinara sauce is the perfect compliment! I had to have it again, but needed to get some work done, I bought it carry out...I know takeout is never as good as dining in, but there were no disappointments here...the pizza was still crisp and cooked to perfection. I tried the pepperoni and sausage and was not disappointed. In the area...look no further for what I consider the perfect pizza. This was my first time here, and I was not disappointed. What a great sports bar with great sports bar food. I was breed immediately by a very friendly young lady, who actually smiled as she spoke to me and got me a table as soon as my two other friends arrived. Our server was over immediately and helped us a little bit with the menu and return immediately with our drinks. I ordered the old bay dry spice, chicken wings and a Pizza-BOTH WERE EXCELLENT! Ain't cheap, but definitely met my expectations! I asked for my wings to be well done and that's the way they came out. My pizza, was probably just finished frost I've ever had but I absolutely love it. My only complaint is that I ordered a 12 inch pizza and the toppings were $2.25 each, but I got the four toppings that I want. Overall, my friends and I enjoyed watching the football game and eating delicious food and drinking cold beer. I love all the sports memorabilia all around and enjoy reading history on the bar and its founder/owner. An excellent pizza I was finally able to convince my wife we should go to Shaner's, she's always concerned I will overeat when it comes to pizza. I definitely did. There were 3 of us and we ordered a large Greek Salad and a large Shaner's Favorite pizza to share. Shaner's had expanded since our last visit, which was a few years ago, and now have an additional area with about 10 booths and tables. The walls are proudly filled with baseball items and there are TVs. The place was busy but our wait was under 10 minutes before we were seated. After we ordered we got the salad in just a few minutes. It's a very large salad, the spoons shown in my photo are serving spoons. This would be a meal for one person and a very good start for three. Once we were done the pizza arrived. It smelled so good. Cut in squares it was easy to just keep getting more as you finish what you have, making it hard for wives to track how much a husband is eating. It was delicious, best pizza I've had in a long time. With a thin crust it put the focus on the toppings, the small size of the squares made what would otherwise be very floppy slices easy to handle. A Shane's Favorite pizza has pepperoni, sausage, red onions, and mushrooms. I should mention Shaner's offers more than just pizza. They used to not be open for lunch but they are now. Let's begin with a warm welcome from the manager on duty. The inside has been updated since our last visit. Still has a full bar, but the seating has been expanded with the next room full of 6 booths and 5 tables. It really is nice to not walk into people seated by the doorways. The expansion was really needed. The menu has salads and pizzas. There are a couple of entrees offered with either spaghetti or penne pasta. Let's make no mistake, pizzas are the stars on the menu! We begin with a small Caesar salad. The salad is generous, fresh, and delicious. One small salad is perfect for 2 to share. The large salad is really huge and perfect for 4 people to share. The pizza is thin crust, but can hold our toppings.Truly enjoyed the crispy crust and it was fully cooked. My only comment would be the sauce could have a bit more flavor. It seemed plain tomato sauce. A bit more seasoning in the sauce would have been great. I did enjoy Chicago style cut, which for a thin pie, it's easier to eat. We got the medium, it was served hot, and we could not finish it. Lunch tomorrow awaits. Servers are friendly and they know their regulars. For newbies, don't worry, the servers will guide you and make menu and drink suggestions. The crowd on this Sunday were mostly couples enjoying a cold beer and a hot pizza. My husband and I are at shanner's Pizza on the 17th of September and both fell ill. We contacted the health department and this was their findings. I NOW understand why we were sick. What's really discouraging is this restaurant pays/rewards customers for filling their reviews with only 5 stars. Considering this restaurant has had endless and I mean endless violations and has been shut down more than once it's clear this restaurant is doing everything their power to deceive potential customers.... I got a large sausage pie from Shaners to go. I needed something light, so I figured an ultra thin crust (as advertised by the restaurant) would go down the gullet easily. Definitely not false advertising; the crust is extremely thin. It's so thin my sugars didn't even spike. My body didn't know I was consuming bread. The outer pieces of the pie were a four star, but the inside pieces were just too flaccid and floppy. To make a great thin crust pizza, the whole pie has to be crispy, not just the outer pieces. I effortlessly ate an entire large by myself (which is normal for me, god forbid I turn into a pre diabetic instead of having full blown diabetes) but there's so little crust you need an entire pie per person to feed people. For me I need two, but I'm probably the exception. read more

I've been to Shaner's several times, which is why I chose to go back last evening. Waited for just a short time for a spot at the bar (20 mins). Was so excited to have their pizza. As I sat, someone came next to me to order a drink while he waited for his table. The bartender/ phone person, came over, (the gentleman indicated to her that I was first), she took our drink order, i asked for a menu and water(never got either one). I got my drink and plates. another person came next to me and asked if I was waiting, My reply " just for a menu". He mentioned it to her and so did I. Never got one. 15 mins later one of the same people gave me their menu. 15 mins even longer, when i was going to leave due to frustration, she came to take my order. I expressed that i was going to leave but I ordered a pizza anyway. 20 mins later, it never came out. So I left my money for my drink and left! Long time to just place an order. Tried Shaner's Pizza tonight, what an excellent experience! Four couples in our group, all first timers, and we were already talking about coming back before we were halfway through our meals. The salad was fresh and crisp and the house dressing is fantastic. Mozzarella sticks were great. Pizza, best in the area without a doubt. Shaner's is our favorite local pizza place. There are other places that are closer to where we live, but Shaner's is always spot on. Their pizza is excellent, but they also deliver a very good burger and excellent wings and salads. This is thin crust pizza at its best. They are always busy, but the kitchen manages to keep up with the orders, as well as the large number of take-out orders. So lets start with walking into an empty restaurant and sitting for 8 minutes with no one at the-bar or at the hostess stand. We sat at the bar and 8 min later two people walk in. Thought more patrons. We are saved. Nope went into the back kitchen and never said a word. Then the phone rang. Hope they would come out and answer it. Wrong. I said to my wife I call and tell them to service us she said lets leave. Got dripped on from HVAC unit above so moved seats. Then my wife got dripped on. Still intrigue by a place that has been in business this long with a Chicago pizza, cut tavern style. Host/waitress came out, finally. We ordered two mango wheat beers. Good. Ordered the baked meatball appetizer w/ garlic bread. Lots of cheese and good meatballs. Marinara sauce was good . Now to the pizza. Good size. A large was good for two with a few pieces for later. Would probably get medium next time. The crust. Very thin but wimpy. Not a cracker crust but good bake. Sauce to me tasted like it had a lot of oregano in it. Kinda of a turn off. Found It Shaners offers excellent thin crust pizza. The crust is crispy along the edges with bubbling at the edge of the cheeese. Speaking of the cheese it is high quality not chewy institutIonal cheese. The sauce is well seasoned. Sausage Pizza is our go-to order and it didn't disappoint. It was done properly; not sliced to resemble pepperoni. It was placed with dollops spread evenly. The pizza was cut squarely, not pie wedged. Shaners is located in Gulf Gate so parking can be difficult. We ordered ours as take out, but seating is available. if you prefer thin crust pizza, Shaners is highly recommended. read more

Best thin (and crispy) crust pizza I have EVER had anywhere. If I lived here I would be eating here every week. We only get down here once a year, but make 2 or 3 trips to Shaner's during that time. We usually get a large supreme. Their chopped salad is also awesome. Shane, the owner, is like a mother hen overseeing the place and making sure everyone has an optimal experience. Now living in Florida, I have been searching forever for thin crust "tavern style" pizza that true Chicagoans favor-Shaner's has it! This is quite simply the best pizza I've ever had in Florida, and can hold its own with many of Chicago's best pizzerias! The perfect thin crust has wonderful flavor, the sauce with a hint of sweetness pairs perfectly with superior tasting cheese. The ratio of sauce to cheese is right on point. The Italian sausage has true sausage flavor. Everything about this pizza reminds me of the pizza parlors of my youth. If you're looking for pizza with high quality ingredients and lots of perfectly balaced flavor, Shaner's has it. This restaurant is about an hour drive for me but its the only place I'll be getting my pizza from now on. By the way, I heated up the leftover pizza in my oven for a few minutes the next day and it lost none of its flavor or crispy crust. read more
