If you really want to see the things advertised in the pamphlet you will, but be prepared for a good laugh otherwise. Go with your sense of humor! OH, I forgot! you get to pick a free rock in the middle of the tour!

One of the reasons we selected Alkali Ike Tours was because they had the only air conditioned bus out of all the Deadwood tour groups in town. Unfortunately, we were in Deadwood on a very very hot day. It was 94 degrees and the air conditioning on his bus could not keep up with the heat. Because we couldn't open the windows, it made for a very hot uncomfortable ride during the tour. Thus, I give this tour a 4. I highly recommend Mike and this tour and I am sure the air conditioning will be repaired in the future.

She does an excellent job of painting the picture, providing evidence (including pictures), and also providing first account examples. I have been on several ghost tours around the country and this is too notch. If you love history and learning more about lawless times, this is a tour for you. While Deadwood is one big tourist trap I recommend stopping just for this tour to get a good sense of the town followed by a bite to eat. We ate at Stampmill and stayed in the town next door, Lead. Our first stop in Deadwood was the welcome Center and if you're headed here this is a great place…read moreto start. It's located in what looks like an old railroad building and has a huge parking lot for the area. They have historical information and interactive displays available inside with lots of information on the town and things to do. I appreciated that I was able to get the information that I needed via the kiosk and didn't have to speak to anyone in the center. There was plenty of parking and the bathrooms were very clean. After you get the information you're looking for inside, you can step outside and there's a pleasant path/trail system by the creek nearby. I stood there for a little while. Just enjoying the sounds of nature and looking through the information from the center before we headed out to explore Deadwood. Overall, this is a very nice and welcoming information center where you can get lots of ideas for things that you want to do before you head out onto main street as it can get a little overwhelming. I definitely recommend stopping here first on your visit, especially if you appreciate being able to explore things at your own pace before the bustle of this busy town fully hits.

Tour does make for a long day- pick up around 7am and dropped off around 6pm. Got to Mt Rushmore early before crowds got to large. No way we we have driven Needles highway ourselves so was worth it for that alone. Wes has truly scoped out the best spots that people may miss. In all saw Mt Rushmore, Needles Highway, Crazy Horse and had lunch here, Custer state park and saw Bison and prairie dogs, Bison Center, Sylvan lake and so much of the Black Hills. Highly recommend.
