"Assurances" and "peace of mind" are worth their weight in gold. This is especially true when one…read morehas to know that one's skill level is far less than adequate for what the job demands. Nothing could be more true than in dealing with electricity: things simply have to be done right. When I contacted Neil, the work to be done was not major; it was less than the ability of a Master Electrician. Yet this is the first assurance a home owner can have, i.e., talent beyond what actually is needed. The second assurance Neil gave me - in having to do some electrical "detective work" - was that he he would not leave until the job was done. And this was less than 24 hours after my first contact with him. So, yes, I am very pleased with how things turned out. I would anticipate that this is the standard Neil sets in everything he does.

The installers were very professional and had our panels up and critter guard up in less than 4 hours. Mitchell explained the app to me and explained what was next in the process. Allison in customer relations was very helpful with getting the proper paperwork from our town and even called us as soon as Fortis was done and our panels were generating power. Bahrat followed up with us in person when he was back in our neighborhood. At no time did I think I was on my own in this. I would recommend Firefly to my friends and family because of the good work done.

if I could give zero stars, I would. My experience with Firefly Solar began in September 2025 when…read morethe Canada Greener Homes Loan program was still available. During the sales process, I made it very clear that my decision to proceed depended on approval for the Greener Homes Loan. I was specifically told multiple times that if I was not approved, I would not be responsible for moving forward with the contract. This is why I agreed to sign. In hindsight, I should have spent more time reading the contract. However, I was being bombarded with information and felt I could trust the salesperson based on the assurances and promises being made. As part of the agreement, Firefly arranged financing through their finance company for the required 20% deposit, which was approximately $4,000. When my Greener Homes Loan application was denied because the program funding had been fully allocated, I expected the project to be cancelled. Instead, I was informed that I was still responsible for the contract and the deposit. When I reminded Firefly what the salesperson had told me before I signed, I was told that no such promises had been made. After that, my emails and phone calls largely went unanswered. Firefly then hired a contractor to try to retain customers who had been denied the Greener Homes Loan. One of the alternatives offered was "0% financing for 10 years," except that an additional 25% would be added to the cost at the end. Calling that 0% financing is certainly one way to market it. Only after I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau did Firefly change its position and offer to waive 50% of my deposit, claiming they had incurred costs related to permits and administrative work. I responded with what I felt was a reasonable request: provide an itemized breakdown of those expenses and I would review it. That information was never provided. After emailing Firefly to advise that I was prepared to pursue legal action, I received an email from one of the company's co-founders within about an hour offering to cancel the entire contract with no penalty. Think about that. I went from being told I was responsible for thousands of dollars, to being offered a partial refund, to suddenly owing nothing at all. I was also refunded the payments I had already made and received the e-transfer within about 30 minutes of requesting it. Ultimately, I am grateful that the contract was cancelled and that I did not lose thousands of dollars. However, the amount of time, stress, research, and persistence required to reach that outcome left a very bad taste in my mouth and reinforced the importance of trusting my instincts when something doesn't feel right. My advice to anyone considering Firefly Solar is simple: get every promise in writing, document every conversation, and do not rely solely on verbal assurances. Or better yet, save yourself the hassle and shop around. I later received a quote from a local company , that was approximately 25% less than Firefly's quote--and they didn't require a non-refundable deposit either. Funny how that works.
