Want to spend 3 hours on a guided stroll down Park Ave stopping in restaurants, shops and learning about some history? Check this out! Nice for locals and visitors. Having seen a lot of post cards for this event around Park Ave, we decided to give it a try this past weekend. We went with the Saturday tour and unfortunately, we were interrupted with some rain during our tour so we didn't get the full history and stroll that usually is part of it. Bummed but we didn't let it stop us from having a good time. Reid was our guide for the day and also a founder of this Food Tour. He was fun and very lighthearted throughout our experience. I do feel that since there was rain we missed most of what the tour was trying to accomplish, which was to give us a history lesson as well. I do have to say, I didn't learn much but since we were scurrying to each location, I know it was difficult. They do warn you of the rain, I mean, hello! It's Florida! So they recommend bringing an umbrella! Do yourself a favor and do that if there is more than 30% chance! You will be glad you did. For a $47 price tag, check out the stops we headed to and keep in mind, they are the same stops for each tour but they will be adding a new tour of the other end of Park Ave in the next few months. This is a tour of 6 businesses which consist of: Prato Ancient Olive The Spice & Tea Exchange Orchid Thai Cuisine Kilwin's Sassafras Sweet Shoppe Prato I have been various times so I already knew it was going to be a great kick-off to the tour. When you booked, there were an option of Wine or Beer. I went for the wine and a red wine was waiting as we were seated at the table. We tried 2 of their pizzas and had their house bread as well. It was lovely as you really can't have a bad experience in Prato. However, I think this would have been a great opportunity for someone from Prato to chat about their business but Reid did a pretty good rundown. Ancient Olive By far, Ancient Olive took the cake for being the highlight of the tour. WOW! Not only does this shop rock in it's own right, they know how to host a tour of people who love food and want a taste of local. We had someone from Ancient Olive walk us through an Olive Oil & Balsamic tasting, think Wine tasting but with Olive Oil & Balsamic. They also had some tapenade and a goat cheese spread with balsamic and almonds to snack on. They carry a local all-natural beverage mixer as well, Bungalow23 and we had the Prickly Pear. Just when we thought we were already in heaven, another door opened: Ice Cream with Olive Oil and salt... OMGGGGG... I could have stopped the tour here and taken a bath in this. You are not supposed to shop on this tour but it was raining and I spent almost $70 here. Such a great stop. The Spice & Tea Exchange They have so many teas, salts, spices and peppers than you could ever imagine. The best part is they have kick-a recipes to use and we tasted two of them on this stop. Beer cheese dip and an orzo pasta. The pasta was delicious! We also had one of their cold brew teas. Lovely stop. I did feel a little rushed from here on out but that may have been because the rain kept us at the 2nd stop for a long time. Orchid Thai Cuisine I have been here and unfortunately, everything we tasted, chicken satay and their appetizer platter was everything I have had here before. Didn't get much of a new experience here and didn't really learn anything about the business except they have been there for 6 years. Kilwin's My least fav stop on the tour. Not sure why we went with Kilwin's since it's not local. When we arrive, we really didn't learn anything about the business and no one from there interacted with us. We had a taste of the Winter Park Mud, vanilla ice cream with chocolate chips and carmel. It was good but the ice cream wasn't very smooth, it was more crystalized. I am not into fudge so I gave mine away. It was the turtle fudge. Sassafras Sweet Shoppe I adore this store so I was excited to see this on the stop. However, we only spent about 2 minutes in here and grabbed cotton candy and went and ate it under an awning outside and were sent on our way. A very abrupt ending but it was still raining out so I guess we couldn't expect too much. Overall, wasn't blown away but I did it with 2 friends and the others that were on the tour were fun as well. It was a lovely way to spend the afternoon even if the stops and content didn't blow me away. read more

He's very knowledgable about the area and locations where we made stops. Our first food tour, and it did not disappoint! Stephanie, our friendly and knowledgeable tour guide, really made the whole experience truly fabulous. She went out of her way to make sure everyone was comfortable and satisfied. It was a hot, late May day, but as we walked around, Stephanie made sure we were standing in the shade as she explained Winter Park's history. She even carried a cooler filled with waters for our group! We purchased the tickets a while ago through Groupon at a generous discount which was a bonus. We made 5 stops on the tour--Parkview, Ancient Olive, Boca, Fig & Julep, and Peterbrooke. My husband I loved all of the food and drinks at each stop. Ancient Olive was a nice surprise--who knew there were so many varieties of olive oil and vinegar? Lucky we had that Groupon discount since we ended up buying several of the products we sampled. (Buying anything is completely optional) The workers at Ancient Olive were informative and fun and made the experience very enjoyable. There were a few changes to the printed itinerary, but Stephanie informed us of this as soon as we arrived at the tour. We are flexible and laid back, so the altered itinerary didn't bother us at all. Even though we only live a few miles from Winter Park, we learned so much about the history and visited some hidden gems that we might not have previously noticed. I won a ticket for to the Orlando Food Tours ... I have never heard of such cool idea and I'm glad I won. I bought an extra ticket for my husband, the price $47 plus tax. We met at the Prato Restaurant in Winter Park. Reid was our foodie tour guide and he was pretty awesome, laid back, approachable, attentive and professional. Reid gave us (8 in this tour) a brief summary of his business and how it came out and introduced us to several restaurants in Winter Park. The food in Prato was amazing and fresh. The service amazing. Ancient Olive was awesome ... got a brief crash course in olive oil and vinegars that really helped in pairing foods. The spice and Tea Exchange was pretty cool, my favorite there was the homemade hummus, great staff. The Orchid Thai Cuisine was nice, the food was awesome. Wished we had more information on the dishes rather than bringing it to us; the Kilwin's Chocolate and Ice Cream was a nice stop after a hot day ... the homemade fudge was awesome and finally the Sassafras Sweet Shoppe ... we shared cotton candy and we said our good-byes. Overall, a great experience. Wished we had a little bit more history of Winter Park as we walked along the streets. Also, I was expecting more at our last stop Sassafras. I can't wait for this start up to do a second route. Would I do it again? YES!! and highly recommended. read more

I had a great time on Park Avenue with Orlando Food Tours. All of the food was delicious and the tour itself was quite entertaining. I was expecting the tour to be just walking around to different restaurants and trying a bite or two at each place, but it was way more than just that. We got 2 whole pizzas and beer/wine at Prato and 2 huge appetizers at Orchid, as well as some amazing ice cream and caramel apples at Kilwins, cotton candy at Sassafras, and other delicious goodies at the Ancient Olive and the Tea and Spice Exchange. This was definitely an amazing experience. It was a great way to meet new people try new food and learn about the city of Winter Park. At the same time while you're trying different foods you are also burning calories because it's a nice little walk throughout the city of Winter Park particularly Park Avenue. Our first stop on the tour was at Prato where we tried a delicious assortment of pizzas, one pizza had an egg on it and the combination of egg on top of a pizza is surprisingly delicious. The second stop of the tour was at Ancient Olives. I am NOT going to lie I was a little bit apprehensive because I never realized the history that went along with trying different olive oils, surprisingly so there are so many different olive oils and balsamic vinaigrette that are simply divine. I tried a dark chocolate balsamic vinaigrette and was blown away by the flavor. The next stop was the Spice and Tea exchange honestly this was my favorite stop of the tour. I really enjoyed this Tea wine that was prepared for us and they also served kale chips with a delicious pumpkin hummus, and a pumpkin flavored waffle with ice cream on top yummy. Then our 4th stop of the tour was orchid Thai cuisine and this Thai place had a great array of summer rolls with the peanut sauce which was a perfect combination . Honestly by the time we were at the Thai restaurant I was already full. Our last two stops or dessert places where we were able to have ice cream and taffy. This was a perfect Saturday afternoon to spend with a great group of people, and hats off to Kiel the tour guide who did a great job of explaining the history of Winter Park along with explaining our Foodie Adventure. You don't have to be a tourist to go on this tour! I've lived in Orlando/Maitland for over 15 years now and have frequented the shops and restaurants of Park Ave. Winter Park many times. With that being said, there are still shops and restaurants that I haven't been to that I was excited to try on this tour. Its a great way to experience new places. I loved learning about different olive oils at Ancient Olive. I also learned more about the history and architecture of Winter Park. The tour includes food tasting at each stop (restaurant or shop) with some being heavier tastings and others more informative and lighter tastings. I left the tour satisfied without feeling like I over-indulged (plus you get to walk it off for any calorie-conscious people)! Keep in mind that you do walk about 1.5 miles over the course of a 3-hour tour so bring comfortable shoes. And maybe an umbrella as they do tours rain or shine! I highly recommend this tour for locals and tourists alike! read more

I had done the downtown Orlando tour through this company last summer, and just recently the Winter Park walking food tour. Both were fun and enjoyable. The Winter Park tour was the best food tour I have done in any city to date and I doubt it gets any better than this. First of all, our tour guide, Jennifer, was so upbeat and knowledgeable about the area and all of the venues we visited so we learned so much while having fun and enjoying our tastes. Since this was a last minute planned birthday activity, we were thankful the company squeezed an extra person on the tour so we could all enjoy. Our first stop, Parkview, really set the tone well with a mimosa and a delicious tapa. Definitely put this location on my list of places to go back and visit for a mimosa flight in a classy wine bar with a view of the park, hence the name. The second location kept the party going at Cocina 214 with chips, salsa, and margaritas to start. They also served up a delicious chicken street taco, and an avocado taco for the vegetarian in our party. Next stop was the Ancient Olive which I was not as excited to stop in after having this stop on the St Augustine tour I did a while back. However, this was one of the best stops on the tour, with an informational presentation and tasting of the oils, a cocktail which included a balsamic and a few other tastings of the local products available in the store. Also inspired me to go back and visit the Ancient Olive in this cute little courtyard area off the main drag in Winter Park again. Next we took a little walking historical tour and checked out some gorgeous architecture and interesting historical facts. We were thankful for the break from the food for a few moments. Next up was the Boca Kitchen and Grill where several pizzas were served up for both the vegetarian, like buffalo cauliflower, and the meat eaters, who were all delighted with the pizza topped with bacon. We wrapped up at Kilwins where we started for some fudge and ice cream tastes. What a great day! I would highly recommend this tour and even do it again with the same or different venues because Winter Park is definitely a great spot to walk, talk, eat, and drink. read more

We had such a great time touring Downtown Orlando. Our tour guide Robert was very pleasant and professional. Robert made the tour that much more fun as he always kept a smile on his face. We visited Le Gourmet Break, Artisan's Table, Fergs Depot, Avenue Gastrobar and Waitiki. The food and drinks that we sampled at all the stops were awesome. After sampling three pizzas and red wine we were happily full. Blood Orange Olive Oil:Our original obsession with The Ancient Olive began with our initial visit. During this tour we sampled the most delicious vanilla ice cream topped with their Blood Orange Olive Oil and a dash of sea salt. These toppings made even the Publix ice cream taste gourmet! Sassafras Sweet Shoppe: Nestled quietly behind Park Avenue, this gourmet vintage candy store will delight kids and adults alike! I'm especially fond of the Cry Baby Gum (I once ate an entire jumbo tub in a single month), so I was quite thrilled with a taste of an old favorite! Great experience with Kiel today on our food tour! I was a lucky winner on their Facebook page (I recommend following them, great giveaways!) and bought a ticket for my husband to join. They threw in an additional discount for his ticket which was a nice touch. Plenty of food, even for my picky partner, we left full and happy! We had a such a great girls day touring Winter Park! Melanie, our tour guide was very informative and super friendly. She gave us the back story of each stop that we made and also some stories about Winter Park! We sampled a variety of food, some of which was pizza, olive oils/balsamics, hummus, ice cream, and fudge. Every place had a small presentation set up for us with a sampling of both food/drink. We had a great time with our tour guide Reid, and it was great that our little group meshed well together! Went with my boyfriend and our group came out to 8 pretty friendly people. Reid is a laid back tour guide and easy to get along with too; he made us all feel welcome. We especially loved the places that were excited to talk to us about their food/product (looking at you Ancient Olive, so great) and we will definitely return to the area to eat and shop at these places! They will also give you a bit of alcohol to taste as well ;) We're locals but still hadn't seen some of these places, tucked away from the main Park Ave thoroughfare. Like some of the past reviewers, we hit up the same locations, but they mentioned having the path change in the future. It can seem a little pricey if you are on a tight budget - try to look on their facebook page,etc to see if there is a 20% code floating around to take the edge off. We were visiting from out of state for wedding and has been on various food Tours before around the country. We decided to look for tours in Orlando and this one was specifically for the Winter Park area. Booking the reservation was very simple and great easy communication online and email. The tour was led by two individuals that had brochures for us to carry and explained in-depth the trip with various information. We went to six different locations from food, snacks, drinks, dessert, appetizers. We were very full by the end of the tour which was very good because it lasted over two hours. The tour guides had lots of information and kept the conversation going and was very friendly and easy going to talk to the owners and the guests. The owners and staff were very accommodating and gave lots of wealth of information. We went to an a italian place for some pizza, a olive and vinegar store with taste testing in various types of foods that was there, the spice and Tea store, Thai cuisine place, a fudge and ice cream store, and then a sweet candy shop. we also went to a couple locations to talk about the history and information of the Winter Park in different various facts and artifacts and historical landmarks of the area. Parking was easy in the area because there is some parking spots of parking locations that you can park all day or 3 to 4 hours. The area is a must have to go visit if you have never been there before or after the tour you can also go and check out different stores that you might be interested in. All in all I would recommend the tour to local residents or Visitors that would like to have a couple hours to go check out a area of Orlando And try out various foods. I would look online or look around see if there's a discount code for 10% off which is very nice. The discounts code that I got from a tour is "return10". read more

We really enjoyed the tour. Kiel, our guide, was friendly and informative. All of the spots we visited were very enthusiastic about food, certainly hospitable and offered a great variety. I have celiac - so ,I really appreciate the care that was taken to make sure my gf food wasn't cross contaminated. And tho they definitely made accommodations for me, I hate to admit that my food wasn't quite as exciting as my boyfriend's. Those pizzas looked so amazing (my bf loved them!). Germaphobes be ware: you might have little issue with some of the food sharing practices - dipping nibbled-on crusts in a communal sauce - kinda gross. Our biggest issue tho: stopping at Kilwins....c'mon, a national chain? Just doesn't seem to fit the description of "a tour for foodies." Definitely had plenty to eat and the historical "interludes" were a nice touch. And, the chosen paths were pleasant & scenic. We were inspired to go back and buy a few things at two of the shops. Though not perfect, it was a fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon. read more

It was so fun and interesting to hear a little history about Winter Park. It is nice to sit, eat, drink and then take a little stroll and continue this process over and over.
