Only wish I was younger and my husband didn't have memory loss because I would love to serve here. They do things for the homeless, for foster families, for the community. The go on missions to Brazil and the Bahamas and this year they are going to Germany. The pastors love God and love people. We are going through the Bible this year and each week is followed by a podcast where you can learn even more. We are also encouraged to read through the Bible on our own. Absolutely a wonderful church family.

The pastor is very passionate about the community and "intentionally living." I have never been a part of a church that does so many great things for the community. They have had neighborhood cookouts, participated in Kicks for Kids, and providing help to anyone who is in need. The church is in a school lunch room but they come early to transform it into a great place to worship. I have recommended this church to many people and usually after the first visit they are hooked!! The pastor is very in-tune to modern day events and does a great job of relating real world things to the bible and how to live by the words. They also have a great youth program as well. I can't tell you much about it since I am no longer a youth but I do have friends with kids that attend the program and they LOVE it. If you are church shopping, or know someone who is, and haven't quite found the right church yet, check out Genesis. You will not be disappointed. They welcome new visitors as if you have been with them for years.

Awesome church! I haven't actually been to a normal service on Sunday, but I have just completed…read moremy first year of BSF (Bible Study Fellowship). They host the men's BSF class for Orlando. We meet there, in the main sanctuary, on Monday nights and then break into small groups for a while. We finish in the sanctuary for the lecture and then get the notes & lesson for the next week on our way out. It's a great way to study the bible. It's an interdenominational group of guys, in fact only a small percentage of them actually attend First Baptist of Winter Park for normal worship. I plan to go to a normal service this summer, during our off season. BSF runs during the school year and they provide free day care while we are in the main session. They have children's leaders that teach the kids of all ages the same lesson that we study, just in a different way. There's no excuse not to do BSF. They have classes in every major city all over the world so if you travel for work, or if you are on vacation, you can just email the class administrator ahead of time and they will set you up with a small group. It's crazy, you do the same lesson where ever you are. The organization was founded by women and is still mostly women, so there are plenty of options for the ladies that are interested. Child care is provided and they have both daytime and night classes in just about every city. First Baptist Church of Winter Park has hosted the men's class here in Orlando for over 14 years! Back in November 2023, I felt hopeless having exhausted my search for a church. I'd spent months researching websites, scrolling through social media pages, and emailing the leadership of dozens of churches... yet none of them seemed to align with what I was looking for. I was about to give up when I made the last-ditch effort to look at yelp (yes, this yelp). I was three page results deep when I found this lovely comment section. I don't normally look at reviews older than 2 years - let alone 7 or 9 - but for whatever reason I still went to the Metro Life Church webpage to learn more. The website so perfectly described what I was looking for, and despite the church being outside of my initial search radius, I decided to visit one Sunday. I was so pleasantly overwhelmed by how kind and intentional they are. I filled out a connect card with a prayer request of looking for a job. Within a day I had someone so incredibly kind reaching out wanting to get to know me, what jobs I was looking for, and how to pray. She introduced me to some wonderful people from the church in my industry, and they forwarded my resume to different people who were hiring. Within weeks, I finally got a job. The church was genuinely looking to help and encourage me, even as a guest. Fast forward to now -August 2024- I am a member of Metro Life Church. I am plugged into community and feeling fulfilled in my surroundings of such a strong body of believers... it has truly been such a blessing. If you are reading this and considering a church home in Central Florida, I highly encourage Metro! If a yelp review could help me find my home, I certainly hope this one can do the same for you. Some answers to my "Church Search FAQs": There's plenty of parking in the surrounding parking lots. Childcare is provided. There are nursing rooms and cry rooms in the sanctuary. The facility is well maintained and clean. The worship is not too loud or bright with lights, there is a true heart of worship and sensitivity to the Spirit. The sanctuary is not too cold or hot, although if you tend to get chilly easily and are sitting under a vent, you may want to bring a sweater. There is coffee and tea available, and sometimes snacks. Dress is whatever best suits you - I have worn a variety from nice dresses to jeans and a t-shirt. There currently is no "turn and greet your neighbor" segment in the service. There is a time of tithe and offering. When communion is offered, there is a gluten free version available. Community Groups extend throughout central Florida, from Winter Park to Sanford and in between. Metro Life Church is nondenominational, reformed charismatic. Two youths were baptized, and I was touched to see that it was they both had a parent baptize them. It made an awesome event even more personal. I also thought it was cool that kids join the adults for worship before being dismissed to their own program. I think that's a great way to make church a family thing. I look forward to coming back.

There is something so majestic from the setting to the music, and the people about this place that will always stick with me( I felt free and weight lifted off my shoulders-no judgement) From the warm welcoming with live music, they had a Pastor and his wife from Hawaii and other prophets like Haiti, Jamaica, and Africa. My first time in a church in years, and I never stand up, but I did. We prayed. Many things that were said will always stick with me. Powerhouse serves dinner at 5:30pm on Wednesday before the service, and breakfast. I live in NY, so it's different to see community come together in such a warming place. A church who wants to see members grow as individuals and genuinely does it has my count. I'll be there next time I'm in town.

Many of us have moved on and are serving elsewhere now since FBCT is no more. I am serving at another little church that reminds me of what I loved about FBCT--people are genuinely loving like the body that was there before all of the changes took place. God moves us where he wants us and most of that body have been moved elsewhere to serve Him as needed.
