I'm a big museum person, especially when the cost of admissions is minimal or nonexistent. In this case, it's completely free to visit the Ormond Memorial Art Museum and Gardens! Though they do appreciate donations. My favorite part of this place is most definitely the gardens. They aren't huge, but you can easily still get lost walking around them. There are a couple of bamboo forests that are so peaceful and pleasant to listen to when the breeze blows through them. You can also find some hidden creeks, gazebos, and gorgeous flowers intermittently. And don't miss the waterfall right at the front of the gardens next to the museum! The museum itself is very small. It's all mostly based on a veteran named Malcom Fraser, who started using art as an outlet and teaching instrument after coming back from war. His paintings all have very religious themes and are so beautiful and emotional. You can find a few other artists' work scattered about, but his certainly take front and center. And it's pretty neat reading about his backstory. It doesn't take long at all to go through all the art, you would at most need an hour if you're wanting to walk through the gardens as well, and even that's putting it liberally. I'm not sure I'd come back now that I've been, but I'd definitely visit if you're in the area and have some spare time!

Gorgeous gardens, friendly staff, plenty of parking. A must stop when in the Ormond beach area.

It was lovely! What a wonderful, peaceful way to spend an hour or so. Loved the artwork displayed as well as the gardens. We even were side-line "guests" at a little wedding! Well worth the $2 suggested donation.

    Hi H.

I come here whenever I need to clear my head and journal a little bit, beautiful place for some peace and quiet haha. The museum is small but the art pieces are impactful for sure and the atmosphere is beautiful. These people could not care for that garden any more than they already do, it shows in how vibrant and well cared for all the plants look like.

Beautiful and quaint botanical garden. Lots of beautiful greenery and adorable turtles.

Beautiful little botanical gardens, located in the heart of the city. I love to steal away here from time to time, to walk around in the shade of the trees and see what's blooming. (And to check up on the snapping turtles in the pond up front!) It's a small place, only a few acres, but the dense foliage and winding trails make you feel like you're miles away. There is a large gazebo in the center which is a beautiful site for a wedding. In addition to the gardens, there is a small art museum on the grounds. Admission is either free or a small donation.

Didn't take many photos because I was involved in the moment with my wife and friends and amazed at all the nice art work they have. We stopped and asked the security officer a few questions. One was how long do these art pieces stay out for viewing and also do they transfer them to other museums around the country. He said they rotate out art work about every few years so it keeps things fresh and no they don't transfer pieces. All pieces stay in house. If you are ever in the area you must stop by the Harn Museum of Art! Also next the year Florida Museum of Natural History will reopen after a full renovation and you also must see that!!! Definitely recommend you visit this!

The galleries are thoughtfully curated, the space feels open and inviting, and there's always a good mix of contemporary pieces, cultural exhibits, and rotating collections that keep things interesting. Their Art After Dark events on Thursday nights are such a nice bonus, the museum feels even more alive, and it's a great way to enjoy art in a relaxed, social setting without it feeling overwhelming. Perfect for a solo night, a date, or something different to do after work. I also love the outdoor garden area; it adds to the peaceful vibe and makes the whole experience feel refreshing. I always leave feeling inspired and reset.

My go to is tomato bisque soup and the gourmet grilled cheese. The Cobb salads are delicious too -- and a signature dish is Shrimp & Grits. When we were there, a server had called in sick and Tracy was running in and out trying to keep up - she did a great job! The museum is outstanding - the staff very welcoming and friendly. The exhibits are excellent and the displays highlight the work. Self-guided tours are no problem - as many placards provide insights. The grounds - simply beautiful. Definitely recommend a visit!

The vendor I bought from told me that it was free that day to go into the museum and Gardens so my family and I decided to look at the beautiful garden to welcome spring. Sadly, we didn't have time to explore the inside of the museum, but that will be for next time. The garden is absolutely stunning and breathtaking with a plethora of colors and the river in the back it's just so pretty. I loved how you could just walk around and see the different parts of the garden and then stand by the river as well. They had super unique flowers. I especially loved the ones that looked like little red lanterns and I loved all the beautiful trees. I was so happy to come here and I loved that they had a little plant market that drew you in to come and actually check out the garden. I can't wait to go back and explore the museum and make a whole day out of it. You definitely need to add this to your list if you haven't gone yet.

The Gallery is located inside Jacksonville International Airport, and I have to say it's a great idea to have an art gallery located in an airport. You get to reach so many people! Some who have never taken the time to see art... some who love art and who may need to unplug from real life. I certainly needed it! I had just gone thru a week in a conference. I had already taken half a day of classes and I was starting a journey to get back home that I thought would take hours but in fact took almost half a day! I was stressed from work, from moving! I had too many things going on at the same time! Having the ability to lose myself in art was a wonderful chance that I took! As you can tell, I love art! One of my favorite memories was touring the Art Institute of Chicago... one of my favorite classes when I was in undergrad was when I took Humanities and the professor has slides of many of the painting in the Louvre. To see art, let it touch you, and think and try to understand it is just wonderful to do. I lost myself for about an hour at the gallery, just enjoying some time to myself and allowing the art to speak to me. Sometimes it's good to forget about your worries, just let go of your struggles from life for a bit and enjoy beauty whenever you get an opportunity. Walking through this gallery, certainly helped me wash away the dust of daily life I had accumulated for months of trials I had faced! Also kudos to this gallery for dedicating it to women's art! If you are in Jacksonville International Airport, waiting for a flight and have some time... you should immerse yourself in this wonderful art gallery!
