Sitting in lobby with a sick and nauseous kid, appt was at 1:30 they said arrive 15 min early , arrived 20 minutes early completed the paperwork they make me redo pretty much every appointment. At 2:00 pm I asked how much longer and was told the doctor is signing an order and they will be right with you. 31 minutes later this must be a long order and not sure why the assistant can't room us while the doctor signs whatever this long order is. Multiple kids have come and gone. Starting to really feel forgotten and annoyed as I need to get back to work. It's already stressful my child is sick then this. We do like his PCP but all else yeah needs work. read more

Since all the other reviews are many years old I thought I'd include my recent one. Ever since MHC took over, this practice has been run wonderfully. Dr. El Gasim is incredible with kids, is holistic minded and very patient/knowledgeable with parents. We have a peds office 5 minutes from our house but we make the 30 minute drive just to see her. read more

Dr. Roberts is awesome! The rest of his staff & the other doctors are wonderful too! When we were getting ready to move to Tucson 12 years ago, my youngest was a couple weeks old. I asked her pediatrician in Mesa if she could recommend a pediatrician in Tucson. She said she didn't know anyone but would ask her drug reps. A couple weeks later, we were back in her office and she said "All my drug reps unanimously said Dr. Roberts"! Fortunately for us, he practiced in the NW side of town. We moved here and I took my youngest in for the next series of shots but I also had my 2 year old with me. We met Dr. Roberts and I was so impressed! I told him that my 2 year old had recently been diagnosed with asthma and we chatted about the girls a bit. A few weeks later, my oldest had a severe asthma attack in the night. I called Dr. Robert's office, left a message and he immediately called me back. He remembered us (which was surprising since we had met only a few weeks earlier). He told me which hospital to take her and he called the hospital and told them we were coming in, He kept checking on us throughout the night and the ER doctors told me "This is the nicest doctor we've dealt with and you should never change doctors"! Believe me, we never will! P.S. I just read the other review and have to disagree completely. My family is now divorced and have NEVER had any such problems in fact, just the opposite. My ex and I bring the girls in depending on work schedules and just never have had any problems whatsoever. read more

I've taken my daughter here 4 times now. Twice for well check ups and twice for sickness. Every time I've waited in a room for an hour for the doctor. Yesterday I took my daughter in and got no answers. I was told to do an X-ray and 5 pages of bloodwork. My daughter is 2! I felt like the doctor was in a rush to get to her lunch break. I am concerned and she acted like we were just an inconvenience. She asked if my daughter was going to cry when she got close to her. What's it matter? You're a doctor and she's a kid? I will be finding a new doctor for my daughter. read more

We have been going to Oro Valley pediatrics since our daughter was born 7 years ago, they have many doctors that are great, but since switching to a health network getting an appointment is absolutely horrible. You don't speak to the actual office, but instead a scheduling service, that is impersonal and uncaring. Well visits are often scheduled a few months out, and sick visits are almost impossible (they send you to urgent care instead, which cost an arm and a leg and defeats the entire purpose of having a primary care physician). They don't bill in office so knowing when you owe money and when you don't is difficult, until they wont let you schedule an appointment because of it. We will miss our doctor, but I can not stand Marana health network, so we will be finding a different pediatrician after years of knowing them. read more

Can't get in to see our doctor so we get whoever is available unless we have booked something months in advance. Our appointment is for 2:30... Still sitting in the lobby at 2:30. Hopefully we will not be sent out without a prescription for ear infection like we were before. Only reason I still give 3 stars is because our doctor when we see her is the best. It's happened too many times that we do not get a correct diagnosis and we are back in a week. It seems like the staff is overbooking patients now and that does affect the care of everyone. My sons sick with pneumonia in the left lung. I called the office and the doctors assistant said she'd tell the doctor. We waited hour after hour for a call back. No call not a call. Doctor's assistants need to tell the doctors. They obviously don't care. read more

My three kids have been patients at OV Pediatrics for the last 5 years. Over the years we have seen Doctors Honebrink, Roberts and Seward. Dr. Seward was a life saver for my son when he was diagnosed with asthma. His knowledge and experience in this field were invaluable during a challenging time. Dr. Honebrink is one of the best pediatricians I've ever been to (14 yrs of ped. drs, throughout many states). She shines in the care and connection she makes with the kids, time spent addressing my concerns, and ease to talk and relate to. She is smart and personable and my girls will never switch. Dr. Roberts is just the kind of guy that is great for my little man. He cares, is professional, and a nice human being. read more

HORRIBLE. I am absolutely disgusted with this place. My son was in the hospital with a temp of 106 two night ago and they requested that he follow up with his pediatrician within 48 hours for evaluation... I tried to schedule him an appointment with his Dr. and was told they wouldn't be able to fit him in for a week. We had the ER doctor CALL the pediatrician office to tell them he needed to be seen for follow and the they still said "no availability, if he needs to be seen again take him to the ER." Yes...because I have another $500 for an ER trip for popsicles and Tylenol. Disgusting customer service, I would not recommend this place for anyone that has a sick child who needs to be seen quickly. read more

I did not have a good experience here. It is very far from my house and the only reason I went here was because I heard that Dr. Tenase was more holistic minded regarding pediatric medacine. There were a few times where, without a word of explanation, she just gave me things for my newborn daughter to take (for instance, vitamin D drops with artificial color/flavor in it). I would have appreciated some discussion about vitamin D drops, and I am certainly not giving those specific ones to my daighter! I also didn't get the feeling that she was very understanding regarding alternative vaccine schedules (she just kept saying we would revisit it at the 2 months visit and offered me pamphlets.) The kicker for me was that they recorded her two week check up as a sick follow up (I had taken her in a few days prior for a lump on her head, determined by the doctor to be totally normal because of the use of a vacuum at her birth). I had no idea that I would be charged another $25 for the follow up, which in my book was her regular check up that she had already been scheduled for that week. Since it was in the doctor's notes as a follow up, they refuse to change it. Again, no one told me anything about this visit being a follow up! I am beyond frustrated. This review is long overdue! We had been going to OV pediatrics since 2004 until we moved in 2012. We were referred to them when our 6 month old daughter had an inexplicable fever- out family doctor's stand in just told us to go home and not worry about it-babies sometimes have temperatures for no reason. Not accepting that answer we found out about them through a colleague whose children were under Dr. Roberts care at OV pediatrics. Turns out our baby daughter had a particularly nasty bladder infection that was discovered by OV pediatrics. Night and day experience! They listen to you and don't just blow anything off without thoroughly investigating before diagnosing. Our Primary doctor was Dr Villar and she is AWESOME! Her bedside manner, knowledge and overall demeanor as a doctor is phenomenal and we have yet to find someone else even close to Dr. Villar in our new home area. :( When we needed to be seen when she was out of town all the other doctors were wonderful as well and any one is just as knowledgable and warm. Their new office is modern, clean and very easy to access. Both my children were patients at OV Pediatrics essentially their whole life. Its an A++ practice and would not have ever considered taking my 2 children (ages 10 and 7) anywhere else if I could help it! Still miss them... :( read more

If there was a negative star for this review it would be given. My children get sick and you can't get an appointment for days! Staff is rude and tell you to call back and MAYBE get you in that day. This is after you sit on hold for a half an hour. My children haven't been able to see the primary Dr for over a year when they are sick. Totally do not recommend! Dr. Roberts is an amazing doctor. He is so compassionate and really cares about my children. He took care of my two oldest daughters for many years when he was located on Oracle/Magee. He later build his business in Oro Valley and we followed. It is a drive for me but is well worth it. He now sees my younger son and I would not take him anywhere else knowing what excellent care he receives from Dr. Roberts. My daughter is disappointed that she is now of age that she can not see a Pediatrician. Finding such a good doctor is tough. If you're looking for an excellent Pediatrician, Dr, Roberts is your guy!! read more

This office I can only assume is too big for good communication and service. They have very bad communication with parents regarding prescriptions, follow up appointments, referrals. They don't respond to fax they get from other doctor offices. Office manager ( Regina) takes no accountability for the bad service. Getting same day sick appointments is nearly impossible. They close in the middle of the day for lunch and have half days. If you need to leave a message for a medical assistant, they will call back after business hours and if you don't catch the call...answering service is on and now you have to wait another 24hrs again. I'm certainly looking for a better option for my family!! read more

Place is nice and clean, staff is patient and friendly but each time we have come we have waited more than 1 hour for our appointment. That's not acceptable. Looks like they are taking in more patients than they can manage. I will look for an alternative for my son. read more

Our family has been receiving care from Oro Valley Pediatrics since 2004. Oro Valley Pediatrics is, in my view, one of the best pediatrician's offices in the area, if not the field. There is a feeling in the office that people genuinely love their work, are invested in their patients, and go above and beyond to serve their patients. The front desk and office staff are always welcoming and kind. I have seen them deal with some difficult circumstances with empathy, understanding, and kindness even if those same attitudes were not reciprocated. Very professional! During the course of the last 10 or so years, we have seen most every physician in the office at one time or another. They all are gifted in their field. Our personal physician is Dr. Honebrink. She is AMAZING! Our first encounter with her was with several foster children that we welcomed into our home. I was struck by the way that she sat right down on the floor with them and made them feel at ease... explaining some complicated issues in a way that a child can understand. She gets kids! My daughter is convinced that she is a mind reader. In a conversation with my 10 yo, my daughter looked at me as if to say, "Mom, how does she know that I am struggling with this?!?" I had not said a word. She is just that in tune with her patients and their development. As homeschoolers, we often encounter people that do not quite understand the "whys" behind electing to school at home. While some physicians in the office express great hesitancy about homeschooling, Dr. Honebrink is not one of those physicians. She is very open minded and accepting, encouraging patients and families to do what works best for their families. She takes the extra time and care to ensure the best possible care is given to patients without making you feel rushed or like an imposition. I have been a patient at this location for most of my life, and have had nothing but good interactions with Dr. Whittard and Dr. Honebrink. Prior to this unpleasant visit, I had just experienced a severe housefire and was dealing with chronic nausea as a result. I asked to see a doctor ASAP and was matched with Dr. John P. Seward. Rather than connecting my poor health with the fact that I had just survived a traumatic housefire, he started telling me that I wanted to subconsciously lose weight, and that I was unhappy with my partner, and needed to leave - even though it was my first time meeting him and he knew nothing of our relationship. I found him to be arrogant and completely unhelpful. He was more concerned with psychoanalyzing me than he was with addressing my physical symptoms. Completely disappointed, I wrote to both him, and the OV Pediatrics office manager asking for an apology and never heard back. As a result, I feel it's fair to post my experience and the letter I sent. Dr. Seward: I am writing you in relation to the appointment we had on the morning of December 16th 2014. I came in because I had been feeling nauseous for months, and I had seen my psychiatrist about it, but wanted to come in to get a second opinion. I believe everyone should be educated on safe sex, so I appreciate you taking that measure - but past that I feel as though you crossed certain professional boundaries. Telling me that you believed my nausea could be related to moving up to Flagstaff and living on my own for the first time was spot on, and that's something I've been thinking about for a long time. However, you soon started talking about how this chronic nausea could be related to my "subconscious" desire to lose weight, despite the fact that I told you that that's never once been an issue for me. I was most taken aback when you told me that I should move out to put space between me and my partner. This is a discussion for a patient and a therapist, not a patient and their primary doctor. I felt as though you were being very insensitive to my needs as a patient, and as a result crossed personal boundaries. This was my first time meeting you, and it felt like you put on an elaborate display to make it look like you knew everything about my life, and I ended up leaving your office feeling worse than when I came in. I felt you were making a lot of brash assumptions, and more importantly it felt like you weren't listening to me. I have never had these issues with Dr. Whittard or Dr. Honebrink. I feel as though I should not be receiving unwarranted life advice from professionals, as well-meaning as it may have been. I expect that you'll understand where I'm coming from, and that a formal apology will be made. I will keep my review at 2 stars because Dr. Whittard and Dr. Honebrink are phenomenal doctors. It is such a shame that my last experience with this particular doctor was so uncomfortable. I was told by the office manager that they would leave a note on my file not to be scheduled with him again, but I never received an apology. At this point, over a year has passed and I'm still extremely disappointed by the way this office chose to handle the situation, so I feel posting this public review is fair. read more
