I found a little reminder that I am loved! Heart rock in the driveway with Ouray snow covered mountains in the back ground

Camped over night and had the most relaxing soak in this beautiful little sacred bubble of nature.

This is the best hot springs experience you can get in Colorado. This place feels like an oasis. It's magical. If you're looking to tent or vehicle camp- stay here. Especially if you want to winter camp. Facilities are very nice and up to date. This is a very CLEAN resort. The staff work extensively to maintain this place and it shows. You see this first hand as an overnight guest if you come in before or after public hours. You get 24 hour access to the springs as an overnight guest. They have like-new, large trex decking platforms for each tent site, all situated on a newer small-river-rock lot. Each site has plenty of space to park, and has its own steel fire ring. In the center of all of the sites is a new concrete pad with a large canopy over it, picnic tables, and a charcoal grill. There was a well maintained port-a-john outside by the tent sites available to use if you didn't want to venture inside the gate to the main restrooms (both the same short walking distance). The free showers in the womens restroom (can't speak for the mens) were honestly even nicer than mine at home. Large, like new, HOME showers with fancy newer shower heads. Shower water is preheated by the hot springs, so every shower taken was hot and relaxing! Bathrooms were clean every time-staff is attentive. The views are impeccable from this place, I'll include a photo or two below. Staff was always friendly and helpful, even very early in the morning and late at night. They have two cats roaming around that were extremely friendly. Definitely a highlight to see them wandering the grounds, if you are an animal lover. This is a clothing optional resort- but everyone minds their own space and business. Everyone was respectful. We seldom had anybody else near us, and clothed or not, people are most often submersed in the pools anyhow. They do also have a clothing-only pool inside with a separate entrance, and two private pool rooms inside that are first-come. There are so many pools to choose from, the parking lot can be full and you still feel like you are getting your own personal experience. Come in after public hours as a camper and you may just have a pool, or a large part of a pool to yourself. Far more relaxing and natural experience than a more popular Mt. Princeton. If you want a quiet more private and natural experience, visit Orvis.

I've been to a lot of hot springs all over the country, but orvis really left an impression on me. Firstly, I love that it's clothing optional! A lot of hot springs in Oregon are like that and it just feels natural and right. It's also nice that electronics aren't allowed in the pools so you can feel comfortable basking in your birthday suit. The woman who helped me was very nice to talk with and helpful. She actually recommended Thai paradise to me (see Thai paradise review lol) and it was a 5 star experience as well. The soaking area reminds me of a secret garden or a little oasis. Beautiful fountains spilling into hot spring pools of different size and temperature. There's at least 6-8 pools I would say. Some are very small, others you can practically swim in! Chairs all around and a beautiful grassy lawn you can sunbathe in. What a luxury it was to soak in these healing waters, close my eyes and feel the suns warm rays and repeat. I ended the experience with a trip to the sauna followed by an icy plunge and then a very very hot pool. Yowza my skin was tingling! I found out that this is the only hot spring with lithium, which is very cool. High levels of magnesium detract from the typical sulphuric smell so it was very pleasant. You can lodge here as well and then have free access to the pools. I wanted to do that, but it was booked so plan accordingly! Even if you just do a day pass, it is worth every penny.

Yes, it was very nice place. Soaking tubs were very clean looking. It looks so natural and was so quiet. We definitely will be back someday.

Waterfalls , hiking trails , shopping, off road trails , dog park , water park ... and that's not even it ! For such a small town I'm impressed ! The hotel we picked is nice , not super luxurious but quaint . Friendly , helpful staff . They have a swing to sit on at the top of their hot springs tubs . I saw a lot of complaints about their hot tubs but there was a staff of people cleaning them today and some of them looked " slimier" than others , those looked like the ones most used . Up top were the best ones , but slippery getting in so be careful ! They have breakfast in the morning with eggs, sausage , bacon , waffles etc . We didn't go until after 9am and yes , they still had food and more coming out . Only complaint is that we have dogs ( there is a $30 person per night fee ) and had to stay on bottom floor .. the problem was that you could hear through the walls the people walking above you and to the side of you. ( I think the lady next to us was being extra loud when talking . However we did not get woken up by our neighbors so maybe just a one off ... anyways I would stay here again . Comfy bed , hot, hot showers .. iron., hair dryers .. coffee maker . You have to visit Ouray , Colorado at some point in your life!

It's hard to put into words, the way I feel about this place, but I'll try…read more We specifically booked this place because of the history. And the cabin in particular that is built upon Chief Ouray's hunting adobe. We absolutely loved the cabin. It was private and primative, but had everything we needed. And to learn that it was built in 1902 was even better. It does have a comfy bedroom, it is not a studio. And a kitchenette with a fridge and a stove, a microwave and mostly fully stocked. A decent shower and lots of heaters with a wood burning stove. We would stay here again in a second. It was neat waking up to the wild turkeys and driving up and down the hill in the ice. The jeep made it really easy. We also booked the sunroom and while I do love staying in the lodge, because of its convenience, we much prefer the cabin. The sun room is almost all windows, and it is literally built on top of the vapor cave with the rock coming through one wall. It's very cozy too, and has a king bed. That part is great! There is no kitchenette in here though, but the front desk clerk was kind enough to help us with some items we needed to make some sandwiches. I'll tell you the most difficult part is this: The entitlement of folks who have no concept of respect. Whether it be berating the staff or talking loudly and obnoxiously while soaking. If someone doesn't know hot springs etiquette, they should learn. It's a place of retreat, rest and relaxation. It's also a sacred native site. It deserves respect. Don't come here if you're looking to be loud and obnoxious. You don't know how many times I watched people walk away from soaking, because of idle drunk gossipy talk... The times where we have been mostly alone, are just epic and I'm truly grateful for that. It has been one of the best weeks just becoming one with nature and the earth, honoring the sacred. There really are no more words except this... For all the negative reviews around social media or online, that's great keep it up. The rest of us would like this little gem kept a secret. Thanks

A giant scam. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!…read more In short, I had a reservation. Mudslides closed the roads to Ouray just prior to my arrival. I confirmed the closed roads with the Colorado Department of Transportation. The hotel still refused to refund my money despite being unable to get there. I offered to change my reservations to 2-3 weeks later since I would return to Colorado. The hotel refused to refund my money. The hotel never provided a name of anyone to discuss. I only could converse via email to a generic hotel email. I am still fighting to get back my $1,000. Hotel doesn't care as long as they have my money. Pathetic. They refused to discuss over phone. Then they sent a generic email asking how my stay was. Insult to injury. DO NOT EVER BOOK THIS HOTEL.

The waterfall was a lot bigger than I thought it would be. It was super loud inside of the canon which made it all the more exciting. Check out both the lower and upper box canon falls trails. The lower falls trail gets very close to the waterfall, we were getting wet from the spray we were so close. The upper trail has a great view of Ouray and a fun bridge to cross that leads into a tunnel. It is $7 for each adult, but super seniors, military, and children under 4 are free! No dogs allowed in the park. I don't think the dogs would want to come anyway with the metal bridges and aggressively loud waterfall. There are also stairs to near bottom of the waterfall. The high bridge trail is much more challenging, although one can opt to only climb the stair portion for a better view of Ouray and a little cardio. At the top of the stairs there is a small shelter, if you're feeling the altitude at this point it's a good idea not to continue further, as the trail continues to climb and there are no stairs/structure. There is a cable above the trail in sections for stability, and cables below some sections for safety. I'd guess the top of the stairs is a little less than half way to the high bridge. The bridge is a very sturdy structure, over a steep narrow gorge, the views of Box Cañon, the creek, waterfall, and town below are breathtaking. There is a hallway-like tunnel on the far side of the bridge, which is part of the perimeter trail. It's low in some spots but walkable, and offers some shade and cooling after the climb. The trail was drub when we went, it would be significantly more challenging/difficult with any moisture or icy conditions.
