The only good thing about this place is the hot springs. They are beautiful. The staff is atrocious. Disorganized, rude, unhelpful and illogical. Beware that if you book a campsite (which is purely a parking lot spot) you HAVE to have a tent next to your car despite it being no where on the website. If you don't you can not park in your camp site, you have to site outside in a different parking lot. The locker rooms have shower curtains for toilet doors so I hope you enjoy being walked in on! Additionally the locker rooms are cleaned every morning at 7:30am when the sun has just risen and everyone is trying to use the toilet. Out of luck! Had to find a bathroom in town every day. Out of the three nights we were there the hot springs were hot two of the three. It was explained to us the temperature is based on personal preference of the over night attendant. Our attendant apparently liked it like warm. We spent our trip going, "you know what this place should have...." And didn't. read more

This is the best hot springs experience you can get in Colorado. This place feels like an oasis. It's magical. If you're looking to tent or vehicle camp- stay here. Especially if you want to winter camp. Facilities are very nice and up to date. This is a very CLEAN resort. The staff work extensively to maintain this place and it shows. You see this first hand as an overnight guest if you come in before or after public hours. You get 24 hour access to the springs as an overnight guest. They have like-new, large trex decking platforms for each tent site, all situated on a newer small-river-rock lot. Each site has plenty of space to park, and has its own steel fire ring. In the center of all of the sites is a new concrete pad with a large canopy over it, picnic tables, and a charcoal grill. There was a well maintained port-a-john outside by the tent sites available to use if you didn't want to venture inside the gate to the main restrooms (both the same short walking distance). The free showers in the womens restroom (can't speak for the mens) were honestly even nicer than mine at home. Large, like new, HOME showers with fancy newer shower heads. Shower water is preheated by the hot springs, so every shower taken was hot and relaxing! Bathrooms were clean every time-staff is attentive. The views are impeccable from this place, I'll include a photo or two below. Staff was always friendly and helpful, even very early in the morning and late at night. They have two cats roaming around that were extremely friendly. Definitely a highlight to see them wandering the grounds, if you are an animal lover. This is a clothing optional resort- but everyone minds their own space and business. Everyone was respectful. We seldom had anybody else near us, and clothed or not, people are most often submersed in the pools anyhow. They do also have a clothing-only pool inside with a separate entrance, and two private pool rooms inside that are first-come. There are so many pools to choose from, the parking lot can be full and you still feel like you are getting your own personal experience. Come in after public hours as a camper and you may just have a pool, or a large part of a pool to yourself. Far more relaxing and natural experience than a more popular Mt. Princeton. One a half years later, I can say that even more so because I've been to other Hot Springs since and or this has continued to stick out in my memory. My husband and I were lucky enough to stay in the Americana room this past weekend. It had been 10 years since we've been there and I love the additions/upgrades since we were last there. Such a special place! The pools are amazing and the snow this past weekend just made it that much more special. I stayed overnight on one of the tent platforms which allowied use of the indoor shower and kitchen facilities. Sarah, Ashley and Manny were all great and very accommodating. These are my favorite "developed" hot springs I have ever been to. The facility is clean and comfortable. The vibe isn't modern high end luxury spa, but rather an unpretentious, earthy, healing space. The space offers a rustic charm. Staff is friendly and respectful. It is clothing optional and I'd say a majority of people were nude both times I've been. No cell phones or electronics are allowed and there are very high fences, which made me feel like I had complete privacy. The ambiance is quiet and tranquil. The scenery is unmatched being in the valley surrounded by mountains. They offer many pools with varying temperatures. They even have a smokers pool which is rare that smoking is allowed. There are showers and lockers. I highly recommend these hot springs. read more

I visited on 4/26/25. The weather was sunny and about 70F with a slight breeze. Stopped by on my way around the San Juan Skyway, so did not stay in a room. I did research the place before deciding to go so I knew it was going to be a destination along the way. I stayed for maybe an hour and a half to 2 hours. This was one of the best experiences I've ever had and I'm grateful they offer the services that they do. For any one offended by the nudity, that's on you. You should have done your research before visiting the place. There are multiple other hot springs that require clothing. Besides, there's NOTHING wrong with it. Surely as an adult you know what anatomy looks like. Who cares? Nothing is remotely offensive. Everyone was simply minding their own business. It's so relaxing and freeing to just enjoy the warm soaks and walks around the grounds with no restrictions. There are 7 outdoor pools and 3 indoor pools. I did not visit the indoor pools as they require clothing. The 2 largest pools look like they're connected but you can't swim between them. These are large pools with enough space for multiple guests without being uncomfortably close. They are deep enough to swim in and have a finely rocky bottom. There's natural rock seating around the edges or you can float/swim in the center. A much smaller "quiet area" pool is in the back corner but otherwise is similar. There's a very shallow and small pool with a waterfall. If there are other people then entering it can be awkward as the steps are right in front where most people sit so if you're naked you have to walk past them or walk around in the landscaping. The waterfall was a nice touch. There's a smoking (like cigarettes) pool I did not visit but was very small and shallow. Then there's a cold pool I also did not visit because it's extremely small and was occupied and a very hot ("lobster pot") and very small pool that was also always occupied. Both of these would probably be awkward if shared by 2 strangers because of how small they are. There are a few soft grassy areas where lots of people were sunbathing on towels, both nude and not, and both face up and face down. This is child friendly and there was one guest who had a maybe 2-3 year old boy in pull ups walking around, but that was the only child present. Nothing was weird or awkward about it. The men's restroom/changing room is quite small. There are only 2 small benches so changing can be a bit challenging. More than 3-4 people in there gets a little difficult. There's also a urinal and 2 showers to make things even more complicated. Free lockers and access to the kitchen were nice. The lady at the front desk was welcoming, friendly, and informative. Overall, I had an amazing experience here. I so wish I could visit again! And seriously people, get over your fear of nudity. Nobody here cares what you look like! read more

I had absolutely no clue it was a nudist hot spring and i could get over everyone's junk being out but their was also little kids running around... it was disturbing and gross. The lady who checked us in was passive aggressive and rude not to mention it was kinda expensive. Everyone gave a hippie vibe but acted like you cut their hand off when you struck up conversation. If you like getting glared at by overweight middle age dudes because their aquatic animal of a girlfriend is naked in the same pool as you this is your place. read more

I've been to a lot of hot springs all over the country, but orvis really left an impression on me. Firstly, I love that it's clothing optional! A lot of hot springs in Oregon are like that and it just feels natural and right. It's also nice that electronics aren't allowed in the pools so you can feel comfortable basking in your birthday suit. The woman who helped me was very nice to talk with and helpful. She actually recommended Thai paradise to me (see Thai paradise review lol) and it was a 5 star experience as well. The soaking area reminds me of a secret garden or a little oasis. Beautiful fountains spilling into hot spring pools of different size and temperature. There's at least 6-8 pools I would say. Some are very small, others you can practically swim in! Chairs all around and a beautiful grassy lawn you can sunbathe in. What a luxury it was to soak in these healing waters, close my eyes and feel the suns warm rays and repeat. I ended the experience with a trip to the sauna followed by an icy plunge and then a very very hot pool. Yowza my skin was tingling! I found out that this is the only hot spring with lithium, which is very cool. High levels of magnesium detract from the typical sulphuric smell so it was very pleasant. You can lodge here as well and then have free access to the pools. I wanted to do that, but it was booked so plan accordingly! Even if you just do a day pass, it is worth every penny. read more

This place was amazing and I absolutely cannot wait to return. The staff is so kind and helpful. It made us feel at home. The atmosphere was peaceful, beautiful, and healing. There was no loud or rowdy people when we were there and there is even a sign discouraging that behavior. For vehicle camping, you literally are parked in a gravel parking lot against a chain link fence and next to other cars. At first we were turned off by this, but we reminded ourselves that this was about the soaking experience. Being able to walk right out of the ponds and right into your tent is amazing. Not to mention, when you camp there you can soak all through the night and/or in the early morning before day use visitors. Most of the visitors were nude (both in and out of the ponds) and sometimes they might even sit right next to you in a small pond and strike up a conversation, so you have to be comfortable with that. There are various ponds/pools to choose from of various sizes and temperatures. At the time of our visit, we only saw one pre-teen boy and later two toddlers. Otherwise it was all adults. There is an indoor warm pool where clothing is required and is a good place for kids. read more

So here I am sitting in my vehicle freezing at 18 degrees Fahrenheit. My toes and hand are beginning to go numb. I start my truck because it's freezing to death outside and this lady who claims she works here opens my door and climbs inside without any permission and demands I shut my truck off and refuses to get out of my personal vehicle. I have to threaten her with a force of action to get her out of my vehicle. She goes to get the owners son to come out and he asks what's going on, so I tell him in my shivering voice how I'm friggin freezing after trying to sleep under all 7 blankets we had brought. Unfortunately I've never camped in this type of weather so yes maybe I'm under prepared. But do not friggin come to my personal vehicle and enter it without permission. Place is absolutely horrible. And the lady is literally smoking from a meth pipe next to us in the non campsite that states no parking. I ran my truck the first night and no one said anything. They even walked around and put notes on the cars who were not registered and still did not demand it to be off. Do not recommend camping here, the wood decks for tents are catty wampus. The fire rings are so small and have no griddle or grate over them. The outhouse is filthy, full of urine and poop. Smells horrific. The interior of the building has filthy changing rooms with no personal space. No neutral bathroom zones either. Next we visited the Silence pool, of course people there was talking. Kinda crazy thing, we shined a light under water and the algae and scum was so horrible. We exited immediately. Next the pool across. Pretty nice but the rocks hurt your feet bad! Same with this pool, scum and algae really bad. The rocks in the pools and walls are all covered in algae. We seen a wad of hair floating in the water with algae on it as well. To be honest, this campground is not safe at all especially with staff entering your vehicles to do whatever. The lady was drunk or just on drugs but I did not feel safe being here. As I finish with this review I am starting my truck to part ways from this dump.pictures attached are of the lady in the no parking area and of her truck plate and model so others can be on the lookout for this hostile person who has no limits. Amazing!! Relaxing!! Private!! Okay for nudists to enjoy in this quiet little hot spring spa hotel. This place also has camping!! Peak seasons it's $45 per person to camp or $37 off season. The camp sites include parking; put your tent on an elevated wooden platform. It's quite close to the neighbors. Will try it out next time. If it's just to experience the hot springs, coming at $22 for a 2 hour soak with 7 different pools to choose from. There is a smoking section for those that need to hit it while here. The shower and bathroom is small but good enough to get 3-4 people in there at once to change and what not. The pool temperatures ranges from 99-104, just right. Mostly shallow to more than 5' in depth. Great for couples or families to enjoy. read more

Nice place without the flash. More people where clothed than non clothed. It was pretty busy for a mid week visit. Plenty of seating in the shade and sun. I love this place and being able to bask in my glory without judgment. It has such a welcoming atmosphere and you are able to let everything hang out! I did have car troubles while I was here and so many guest came to help out. I have never been in an atmosphere with so much love and acceptance I strongly recommend this spot to anyone who is trying to get away from the toxins in this world. My friends and I had a lovely time here! It is definitely clothing optional so be aware of that when you see lots of swinging parts. The grounds are very pretty and the springs are so comfy. There are a few different temperature pools. The main pools are both great temperatures. There is a super hot pool that I couldn't tolerate though I wish I could!! On my last full day in Ouray, I decided to come to Orvis for some soaking and meditation. I was told by almost everyone I encountered in Ouray that Orvis is a MUST GO before I leave. So I came and spent almost the whole day here. The staff was so kind and helpful, and even gave me a little tour. The changing rooms, showers, and bathrooms are a bit cramped, but that's not what you come here for. I met some of the most rad souls that I would've never come across if I didn't stop at Orvis. The whole setup once you get to the back is a complete oasis. I personally spent about 5 hours in the lobster pot. I found that to be perfect for me. I was able to get lost in my meditation for quite some time. I also had some of the most enlightening conversations with the other souls inhabiting in the lobster pot lol. It was quite a trip! That's for sure. Make sure you bring water!! They have a refill station which is a total plus. I also was welcomed by the coolest of cats and also peacocks!?!?! What a time. What an experience. Only at Orvis. The views are beautiful, I hear the stars at night are just oh so captivating. Next time I find myself nearby I'll stop in for a soak in the pot with the other lobsters!! read more

It was a wonderful last minute find, and I am so happy I got a chance to check it out as I liked it much better than other hot springs in the area. It's not fancy but everything is super clean and has everything you may need: lockers, changing rooms, coffee, water, snacks, you can rent towels and robes if you didn't bring your own, and OF COURSE, the pools! Different pools of various size and temperatures to choose from (natural looking ones, not the rec center type). They even have the silent one and the lobster one (super hot as the name suggests). They also have awesome sauna and a cold pool and shower right next to it. Adults only and clothing optional, which was a bit outside of my comfort zone but I would say that about half of the people wore swimming suits/trunks so it's great to have some options! They also have a super friendly cat that greeted us by the register and then was just hanging out outside. You do have an option to go for an hour or all day passes (you have to pay a full amount and will get refunded if you leave earlier). No cell phones allowed in the springs area but it's a fantastic natural and super relaxing setting, and I always sleep like a baby after soaking in hot springs! read more

This is a very relaxing hot springs with numerous pools at different temperatures. Definitely a place to go for quiet soaking. The area is nicely landscaped. Clothing is optional and in our visits about half the customers opted out of suits. All body shapes and sizes represented, no judging going on, so it's very freeing if you want that experience. The showers/changing area are dated and we prefer to arrive in sweats rather than use their changing facilities. If you're shy-ish but want to try opting out of a suit, time your arrival with sunset. It's a beautiful time of day and the dim lighting insures a degree of privacy/anonymity. They have onsite lodging but we haven't tried that so no comment on that option. read more

Been going to Orvis for many years. Have always loved the experience and recommended it to many friends over the years. This last time, perhaps its due to many using the facilities, traveling through this summer, we were very disappointed. The water was downright dirty and murky. Our skin had a negative reaction and this was a first time. Came back to our friend's house in Ridgway where we're staying and both of us quickly jumped in the shower to wash away the spring's residue. Will think twice about returning. read more
