Had an amazing stay at the Beaumont. The staff was great and the hotel was spectacular. Highly recommend staying here

After six months of confinement in our houston home, we needed to escape. We wanted a quiet place nestled in scenic natural beauty. We looked at the USA map and two minutes later we agreed that we should return to the Beaumont Hotel in Ouray, Colorado. So we did. A wonderful three night stay in this grand hotel. It is a beautifully restored gem that is a great escape into comfortable quiet. We never heard another guest or tge staff during our stay. Oh how such silence is a treasure when you live in the center of a bustling metropolitan city. Our room was perfect. A great king size bed, a spacious bathroom and amenities that fulfilled our needs and desires. What makes the hotel very special are the folks that make the Beaumont your home during the stay. Whether it's Carla, Shannon and one other whose name escapes me - so sorry- at the front desk helping you plan your day, making reservations for you or just making you feel welcomed....or....it's Lisa and Tammy in the spa that will rejuvenate your weary bones with a great massage...everyone was wonderful. The Beaumont is the pearl of Ouray. It sits proudly on the corner and is flanked with Oursy's charming historic storefronts of Main Street. It's a great town...friendly...close to outdoor adventure as well as a nice meal and a glass of wine. So if you're tooling down one of the most beautiful drives in the nation stop in Ouray and when you do - make the Beaumont home and a great memory. This was our third stays. We will return. Thank you everyone

This hotel is as good as it gets! We came up for a company holiday party at the Beaumont and had the most wonderful time! The hotel has been restored to all the splendor it had when it was built in the 1880s. The staff was extremely helpful and nice. The rooms were nicely decorated and so comfortable. We were lucky and got a room with a huge bathroom, claw-footed tub and separate shower. It was awesome and comfortable. My friend's room was the tower suite, which has a spiral staircase to a sitting room on the second level. The staff did an amazing job on the holiday party. They worked very hard to make sure that we all had a wonderful time. The ballroom and bar on the second level were both beautifully decorated and festive. I want to go back to the Beaumont very soon!

Incredible historic hotel in downtown Ouray that has been refreshed with all the modern amenities. The rooms are super comfortable and they keep with the historic theme. Friendly staff and a great value make for a perfect stay.

It's hard to put into words, the way I feel about this place, but I'll try…read more We specifically booked this place because of the history. And the cabin in particular that is built upon Chief Ouray's hunting adobe. We absolutely loved the cabin. It was private and primative, but had everything we needed. And to learn that it was built in 1902 was even better. It does have a comfy bedroom, it is not a studio. And a kitchenette with a fridge and a stove, a microwave and mostly fully stocked. A decent shower and lots of heaters with a wood burning stove. We would stay here again in a second. It was neat waking up to the wild turkeys and driving up and down the hill in the ice. The jeep made it really easy. We also booked the sunroom and while I do love staying in the lodge, because of its convenience, we much prefer the cabin. The sun room is almost all windows, and it is literally built on top of the vapor cave with the rock coming through one wall. It's very cozy too, and has a king bed. That part is great! There is no kitchenette in here though, but the front desk clerk was kind enough to help us with some items we needed to make some sandwiches. I'll tell you the most difficult part is this: The entitlement of folks who have no concept of respect. Whether it be berating the staff or talking loudly and obnoxiously while soaking. If someone doesn't know hot springs etiquette, they should learn. It's a place of retreat, rest and relaxation. It's also a sacred native site. It deserves respect. Don't come here if you're looking to be loud and obnoxious. You don't know how many times I watched people walk away from soaking, because of idle drunk gossipy talk... The times where we have been mostly alone, are just epic and I'm truly grateful for that. It has been one of the best weeks just becoming one with nature and the earth, honoring the sacred. There really are no more words except this... For all the negative reviews around social media or online, that's great keep it up. The rest of us would like this little gem kept a secret. Thanks

The spa is cozy with a touch of luxury, the bar has a great jazzy vibe, and the Chef's Table is an experience you shouldn't miss. We were in town for an event that included dinner but we ended up bailing on that and based on the recommendation of the bartender at the Imogene Hotel we ended up here. They have a small dining room that apparently is almost always booked out so we ate at the bar. Really nothing negative to say. Service was prompt and friendly and we enjoyed our conversations with the hostess that seated us and our servers. They offer chef specials for a starter (salad) and for multiple entrees. They also offer a daily special cocktail. The food was solid and the presentations were really well done. I posted our salad courses to show how they handle it. The wife had the on menu ember roasted beet and apple salad. While the apples were scant the overall flavor was fantastic and the local goat cheese had tremendous punch. The salad was perfectly dressed with a lemon vinaigrette. I went with the off menu local tomato and cucumber salad which also included feta, dill, a red wine vinegar dressing and some zaatar seasoning. Again a solid dish, pretty to look at and great tasting. I went with chef special of venison stew. Again, perfectly cooked, the venison fork tender, the vegetables being cooked al dente and the broth being so good I wanted order a cup and just drink it up. We love bolognese and make it at home all the time. the on menu version used just lamb for the protein which (to us) was a bit unusual as you will usually see them with multiple meats. Suffice it to say, this did not need it. The flavor was out of this world fantastic, the rigatoni was cooked perfectly and the freshly grated parmesan was the perfect touch to enhance the overall flavor. Score this a solid 10 - when we return Ouary we will be back to eat here and may even try the hotel out.

Approximately an hour and a half earlier, we had enjoyed lunch and each had a single beer. Upon arrival, we were told we could not receive massages because we had consumed alcohol within the last 12 hours. While this was surprising, we were polite and understanding. We simply asked if we would still be charged the full amount ($550), and were directed to the front desk to sort it out. At the front desk, a gentleman told us he needed to check. When he returned, he informed us we would have to pay the full $550. We calmly questioned this, and at that moment, a man -- who later claimed to be the owner -- came out from the back aggressively yelling, swearing, and accusing us of being drunk. He shouted that he "doesn't put up with this kind of shit," that we "smelled like alcohol," and that the therapists had to "kick us out." Despite our efforts to remain calm and ask him to speak politely, he continued to scream and escalate the situation. His behavior was volatile, deeply unprofessional, and felt threatening. It was so alarming that we chose to leave immediately for our own safety. About 20 minutes later, we were charged the full $550. However, about 30 minutes later, the spa manager called and sincerely apologized, describing the incident as "chaos" and fully refunded our payment. For that, I am grateful, and I have no complaints about the spa staff themselves. What is truly concerning -- and why I'm writing this review -- is the behavior of the supposed "owner." His aggression was extreme and entirely unprovoked. If he is indeed the owner, it raises serious concerns about safety and professionalism at this facility. This situation could have easily escalated into something even more dangerous had we not left promptly. I strongly caution anyone considering this establishment. There are many wonderful, respectful hotel and spas that prioritize guest safety and courtesy -- this is not one of them.

Yes, they are a tad outdated like most of the other reviews I have seen, but the appearance of the rooms were not anything we had not already anticipated from the provided photos. My only complaint is that the TV doors of entertainment center in the double queen room did not open wide enough for the TV to be viewed from both beds. Additionally, I wished that the comfy robes I had seen most other people wearing had been included in our stay and not cost the additional $5/each. Overall, great stay!
