If the Brawny man came to life, he would be shopping here. I felt manly in this store. It has just about everything under the sun for your outdoor endeavors. They even have live trout swimming in the store! A lot of stone and wood all over and a huge roaring fireplace. It seemed like a lodge from the set of Wolverine. You can find just about any gear or wardrobe items you may need for your next excursion. Custom made rifles, shotguns and fishing rods. Lots of fishing rods and tackle. This is apparently the mecca for fly fishing enthusiasts. They have anything you could possibly want and you can even make your own flies. Step out back to the ponds stocked with trout and learn the ways of the force. It was a pretty serene setting to see everyone casting out there. It would be a great place to take the kids if you are in the area.

Orvis is definitive country clothing that's thoroughly Vermont. Think of it as an upscale and inland L.L. Bean. Or maybe L.L. Bean is just a coastal, slightly lower grade Orvis... Everything is well made, durable, timeless and presented with a simple New England elegance that's an extension of the state itself. Fly rods and classic shotguns can be found alongside a huge selection of Barbour gear, as well as the Orvis knit staples along with random other gear like Viyella shirts and hiking boots. There's home stuff intermittently plopped down throughout the store. Note about this, some things are for sale, some aren't and it can be quite an exercise figuring out where the item in question might fall. Often the sales people aren't sure either. It's a great store for lingering, with a crackling fire near the entrance and food scattered about. Great for the sporting gentleman -- or the weekender who fancies himself one.

Dog friendly!

Love this outdoor retailer! Quality merchandise and beautiful store with an outdoor trout pond. They also offer fly fishing lessons. Another big plus IMO is that they are dog friendly! They also have an outlet next door that has discounted merchandise. Staff are always helpful and friendly!

Our group of six came through Manchester about a month ago and parked in front of this store in…read morehopes of finding an area with pretty leaves to take photos of, but we saw a huge sign in front of the store that said 50% off, so we went in instead. We walked around the store on our own, and while 1-2 employees were working with the merchandise, no one greeted us like how employees normally do in outlets - eye contact, ask if we were looking for something, tell us about ongoing sales - which I thought was a little strange (next door at the Armani store, we were greeted with enthusiasm the moment we walked in... and we don't look like we could afford Armani!) There were no other customers in the store, and we were a group of six walking in. I've worked in retail for many years. No customers, no sale. Plus greeting customers is also a method of thwarting thievery because they know they've been acknowledged. My husband found something he really wanted, and there was a sign that stated 50% off, so we headed towards the register. I may have said something like "50% off?," she looked at the jacket, and said, "I don't think so. Nothing in the store is on sale." - This is an outlet store - There is a huge poster that covers an entire window outside that says, "everything 50% off" or something of that sort - There are signs on top of multiple racks stating 30% off, 50% off, etc. And you're telling us nothing is on sale?! Our friend walked by and showed her signs that stated percentages off. Meanwhile, she rings us up and the register automatically took off 50%, and she acted surprised. Were they having a bad day? Were they racist? Were they waiting for the tourist season to be over with (I mean again we were the only people there in the middle of the day, and it didn't look like others were coming into town)? If my husband didn't find that perfect jacket, we would have all walked out. Even a month later, this incident has been brought up several times on why it happened. I won't speculate but am just presenting the facts. On the positive side, this store has quite a bit of inventory, the prices are pretty good, and you are left alone to browse.

Great outlet! Fantastic discounts. Got clothes at a fraction of the cost. Will definitely go again…read more And by the way, the associates are not racist... ridiculous post by someone looking to put this store out of business..
