Oryana Community Co-op is hands-down my favorite place to stop in Traverse City for a vegan meal, whether it's breakfast, lunch, or just a coffee. Oryana is truly a vegan haven. Not only do they have an amazing selection of grab-and-go items, but their made-to-order options are equally impressive. Their vegan dill wrap is one of my favorites and packed with flavor. I also love their prepared tofu slices, especially the curry and smoked varieties. Most recently, I tried the peanut tofu wrap and it was absolutely out of this world, incredibly flavorful, satisfying, and very filling. They also have fantastic options on the hot bar. One standout for me is the vegan breakfast burrito. It's only around $4, surprisingly filling, and loaded with flavor. A little messy to eat, but completely worth it! Before I even ambarked on my vacation to Traverse City with my wife I would have never thought that this city had a health food store but this store takes the cake! This store is absolutely incredible. It's a medium-sized store but it has so much to offer and I enjoyed it it doesn't feel like on the side a big box grocery store. This store is unique and many ways and the prices on all your grocery items are actually very fair. You can expect to find hard to find vegan items, a great selection of Health Products your bathroom or just everyday life. The cafe and the little dining room in the back is such a great touch to the store. The soup selection is awesome incredible awesome featuring some vegan items. Great selection of alcoholic beverages as well! I also visited it's sister store only a couple of miles away and it's just as good but I feel like this location has a slight Edge over it. Always a pleasant experience, sorta like Whole Foods USED to be (before Bezos corporatized and ruined the eco-conscious vibe)... but I digress... "the CO-OP" as it is also called by many is a bastion of goodness: locally made (some in house) baked goods, ready-to-eat foods, and grocery store where you can find hard to locate items. Guess it's a co-op, my SIL likes to go one in Kzoo. This was my first time in a co-op. I was craving a salad after some Mexican with little to no lettuce my tacos. I needed some greens for some balance. We were in and out within 15 minutes, not bad. I found some kimchi in the culture cooler. MIL kimchi, never had that before, it looked much older and much more fermented than the cheaper one in the same cooler. I wasn't able to find a salad that appealed to me in the grab and go section at all. I opted to make my own simple mixed greens, spicy micro greens, tomatoes and balsamic salad instead. For $17.46, I bought mixed greens, micro greens, tomatoes, plus a bottle of Dijon balsamic vinaigrette for a little bit more than what I paid for dinner at 7 Mnks last night. :/ read more

I stopped here and stocked up when I arrived in Traverse City. It was hard not to buy everything. The staff was helpful and I found a nice variety of beverages and fruit. I recommend coming here before you check in to whatever resort you are headed to. read more

I absolutely love this place. The staff is super friendly, the food selection is quite good for being in northern Michigan, and the prices are pretty fair. They have a good selection of local produce. They have a very good selection of chocolate (be still my heart.) And they have take away food in the back. The parking lot is usually pretty available in the winter and full in the summer. They also put on free health events. Truly a gem of a place in Traverse City. read more

This is the BEST co-op I've ever been too..the amount of quality products at a fair price is outstanding, especially in bulk, wellness, bakery. Huge coffee selection, great variety/assortment of Dr. Bronner's bulk soaps, a laundry detergent made in Michigan in bulk, SIX varieties of local kombucha on tap, three of which I tried many times and all were orgasmic. The BEST tasting deli made foods I've had bar none (drooling at the thought of the veggie pad Thai rice bowl or whatever as well as the fiesta salsa dip with guacamole, with sour cream, cheese, etc). The Cobb salad was great too. Only complaint was the Greek salad-fairly anemic and too sweet. Needs more if it's costing the same price as the other salads though, through some more greens in there brah..and no red onion?!(where's the onion doh cuh?!) Bought a 100% wool Nepalese made hat for only $12!!! Pretty sure it was marked at the wrong price, as they usually go for at least $50 and it was made for a woman I'm pretty sure, but my oh my..Shaw am comfy! Oh yeah, they even have three kinds of bulk dog treats! Friendly folks too, but still wearing masks for some reason (Virtue signaling?). read more

This organic grocery store is amazing. Very similar to Whole Foods but locally-owned (it's actually a co-op). They sell your usual fresh produce, bread, and locally made goods & deli. Too many good food items to list here. I love that they label a lot of food vegan & gluten free, so you can follow the colored labels to know what is in it without reading the fine print. This is a great place to pick up organic soaps, toothpaste, and even small gifts. There's a makeup counter that seems well stocked. If you have a kid, bring 'em too, because they get to pick up 1 free fruit to eat while you shop. How sweet is that? Parking wasn't a problem for me, as it has an adjoining lot. Might get a little crowded at peak times, but since this grocery is tucked away in a residential area, I think street parking would be fairly easy to come by. Oryana Natural Food Market was founded in 1973 and seems to have a long history of positive impact in the neighborhood. What a nice gem in the Traverse City area. read more

This is like a cross between Whole Foods and Better Health Market. Everyone that works there is so nice and polite, big but not too big and I love mixing the groceries and the cafe components in one trip. It's a great healthy dinner alternative to some of the more pricey alternatives in town. Awesome for bringing yummy vegan food back to your hotel room on vacation. Love it! We were t here to grocery shop- just to pick up lunch. Reminds us of other good food co-ops we have visited. We ordered a smoked turkey wrap and a veggie burrito to go. Food was delicious and warm, served with a smile. The store smells wonderful inside and has a seemingly great array of natural and organic foods. My favorite part? You can buy just a pinch or a pound of herbs. We all have so many herbs that go to waste because you need it for a recipe and you think you'll use it again, but you don't... or at least not until it's gone super bad and you have to buy it again anyway. And I'm not vegan, but their vegan blueberry muffins in the bakery are second to none. Highly recommend to anyone that eats food. read more

The one star is for the rude and arrogant staff that parade around the store barking orders at customers and inventing personal and arbitrary covid rules. I had an employee order me to pick up a hat that I had set aside because I decided not to buy it. I said I will put it back just wait until I finish my purchase at the cafe, the employee then stuffed the hat next to the credit card machine, I threw the hat back onto the table where I had set it, then the check out man told me not to dare do that ever again because it disrespects the food, the wrapped and packaged food? A couple weeks later I was there and picked up a package of chicken and got slimy red stuff all over my hand, when I told the woman who stuffed the hat next to me, that the chicken was bleeding all over she ignored me and eventually left, her shift over, but never cleaning up the chicken. The cashier was authoritative in forbidding me to use my own bag even though I was bagging my own groceries, she said I could bag them outside, then commented that it was going to take awhile if I was bagging. I spent $250. What a bunch of jerks. read more
