An excellent example of how Italian cuisine should be done; The first thing you may notice about…read morethe restaurant is it's excellent service, on the night of which I attended, the service was extremely nice and welcoming as well as helpful.
The risotto was one of the highlights of the evening, it provided texture, taste, and a good balance of salt and a sweet to linger on the top of the tongue. It was indeed delicious and different. If you are unfamiliar with risotto, it will be naturally odd and different to certain things you may have previously tasted but assuming you wanted to play it safe and simple, they achieved highly in that regard also, their pizzas. A nice homemade dough, lots of tomato sauce, texturally amazing and topped with handfuls of cheese that comes out in an almost melted butter feel with a creamy undertone.
The pepperoni on their pizzas is suggestive, I don't mind it but it's rather small, chunky and in large quantities whereas some prefer a handful of large thin slices, it's not even a fault, just a thought a friend pointed out.
Their chicken wings can be ordered for both starters and mains, they have a very enjoyable sauce with a spicy after effect, with good quality chicken. Another starter was the calamari and honest to god, it was some of the best goddamn calamari I've ever tasted, crunchy with a welly dressed salad and sauce providing for different textures and layers to an otherwise basic dish, but basic done to perfection! A third starter was the deep fried brie, the salad alongside it was delicious but as are all their other salads and as for the brie. it was nice but my god there could be more brie. Finally the deep fried mushrooms, an otherwise common dish but still providing nice textures however it just has no feet or stand on next to the restaurants other dishes.
Finally desserts! A nice end to an evening of great cuisine, the tiramisu was creamy with multiple textures and layers one upon another, it also had a crumble feel at the bottom and a powder feel upon the cream, such a nice, graceful, delicate dish. You may also order a milkshake alongside it, very nice indeed as most milkshakes are however due to the such high level of sweetness and sugar in the shake, for the quantity there is, is too much as it is very heavy and not even the main dessert.
Overall I loved my evening with Galileo's as it was a pleasant experience with great food! So with all said and little flaws, I give Galileo's a solid 4 out of five stars as their food had minor flaws and their takeout is not up to the standard I'm use to from the chefs. I think my mark is fair and I recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for good, classic Italian cuisine!
