Also got the Irish Cottage Pie and it was very tasty - rich in flavor but lighter than I expected, in a good way. Shared a pint of Guiness (just missed splitting the G - lol) and finished with an Irish coffee, which hit the spot. I ordered a tea and it was hilarious, barman turned around and flick the kettle on... Yep, no fancy gimmick hot water machine it was a just kettle and served up in a big standard ole irish cup. Old school, loved it! There was great banter going on amongst folk, the barman also doubled up as a bookie so that had folk very lively altogether. From the city, use to paying high prices so it's great when ye get out into the country, €4 for pint of Guinness and cup of tea was like €1 My husband got talking to an old local man who was super friendly, he recognised us as not being from around the area which was nice of him to say hello :-)

Paulie and Fergie were as welcoming as can be, and we ended up playing Bingo with what had to be the entire town in the bar on a Thursday evening. The food at the pub was wonderful, the room was warm and comfortable with ample free parking in the back, and there was a full Irish breakfast waiting for us in the morning! It was a really, really lovely time and one of our best memories of Ireland.

So, much so, that I did what I never do--I revisited this spot more than once on the same trip (so many places to explore I almost never do this!). That fish chowder is craveable. They do live music on occasion as well and so we were able to enjoy that while sipping our Guinness. The prices are reasonable and the service is friendly. I had the fish and chips and my wife had the Madras curry. The fish was perfect with a crusty outside and moist flaky inside. It would have been nice to have some tartar sauce rather than smashed peas. Still, it was a nice and tasty dish. My wife said her curry was very good.
