I had to view many of them from the comfort of the car with air conditioning because the downtown area of the Sioux Falls smells terrible. I did make sure to see the ark of dreams; but I think it actually looks better from further away. I also really enjoyed some of the more colorful and intricate statues along the street. This is a great way to bring in people to enjoy the culture of a city and expose everyone to art. If the city really wants to do something to boost tourism, I would suggest dealing with the smell. Had the odor not been so bad, I would have happily walked the entirety of the sculpture walk and most likely patronize many of the stores and restaurants in the area.

Its a beautiful building, surrounded by a beautiful garden, in which there are an array of displays on various interesting topics, as well as numerous paintings for sale, and permanent artistic displays. The staff was very friendly and accomodating, and they permitted me to wander throughout the facilities (including some rear areas that I wasn't entirely certain were ordinarily open to the public), despite the fact that the place was all set up for a wedding reception (presumably taking place right about now). Its a very eclectic and downright cool place, with all sort of objects d'art & assorted knick-knacks either for sale, or just on display, atop shelves & shelves & shelves of books on all manner of artistic, scientific & cultural topics (I was especially pleased to come across a copy of Roy A. Gallant's "National Geographic Picture Atlas of Our Universe," which my grandfather gave me for Christmas way back in 1980, and which I hadn't seen for a good many years). Like I said, the place is small, so don't plan on making a day of it, but its definitely more than worth checking out. Its nice that there's no admission fee, but despite being unemployed, I still threw a dollar in their donation box...so if you have a full-time job, please see if you can't do just a little better than that.

These delicate oil on canvas mounted on board panels of Iowa cornfields were rediscovered in 1979, saved, and removed from the local Martin Hotel in the 1980s. The vibrancy of the panels is no more. Seeing them in the small gallery here is like looking at ancient murals. The viewer is faced with the creamy yellows, tans, and browns but little detail remains. However, sit and gaze at these for a while, let your imagination help you, and you'll get a sense of how lovely these panels must have been. For the local community, this Grant Wood work, even in its diminished state, is an important historic and cultural touchstone. The Art Center itself is a nice space for exhibitions. The few here were more interesting than I expected. I was especially taken with Teo Nguyen's giant acrylic on vellum 'Lotus Pond,' from 2018-22.

Another small city art museum that pleasantly surprised me. It has a small permanent collection yet…read morehas some great pieces; including a Thomas Hart Benton that I wanted to see since hailing from Kansas City. They also had a whimsical temporary exhibit - "The Art of the Brick" with full scale sculptures made with Lego's, and an exhibit of area high school students that was truly awe inspiring with paintings, drawing and sculpture.The price was free, parking was easy and next to the interstate downtown. An easy and rewarding stop for anyone driving I-29. Nice job Sioux City!

We were coming in for a wedding and encouraged other guests to book here too. It is easy to get to and from the airport. We took an uber (short drive) but the hotel does have a shuttle if you arrange it. We learned that lyft has more drivers than uber in this area if that is helpful to anyone. Things we loved: - the add on during booking was worth it (strawberries and champagne) - the kitchenette area is not tiny - I love the non slip floor in the bathroom and shower. The look of it and the functionality. please link me, I need this floor at home! - mattress comfy - very clean rooms, robes presented on beds very nice touch. - dimming lights Staff are nice and they have a little coffee breakfast nook with goodies by front desk as well. This location is very walkable to go get a burger or breakfast sandwich down the street too. Super bonus is the treasury restaurant inside the hotel through the safe door. We are suckers for history and a swanky atmosphere. I wouldn't want to park here - it is a tight lot. Even the Ubers and Lyfts have trouble getting in and out because it is narrow. I mean people do, I just personally would not. Thanks for the wonderful stay. If we have to come back to Sioux Falls we won't be staying anywhere else but here.

The only gripping we had was not having a closet to store our things for the weekend but other than that the room was great and our bed was extremely comfortable, like a nice toasty cloud.

This is a beautiful work of art, and it's right next to the river! It's reminiscent of the St…read more Louis' iconic Gateway Arch, but smaller and more visually interesting. It's also lit up at night. You can't go on this arch, so you can only enjoy it from ground level or if you go in one of the buildings nearby. There was parking lot parking right next to the sculpture, but you can also travel on the riverwalk. I really liked the meaning of the arch too; at the center of the Arc of Dreams is a 15-foot gap, 80 feet above the river, representing the leap of faith dreamers take to see their dreams come true.
