This hotel looks nice online, but it is even better in person. I feel it would had been regrettable picking any other hotel. We were coming in for a wedding and encouraged other guests to book here too. It is easy to get to and from the airport. We took an uber (short drive) but the hotel does have a shuttle if you arrange it. We learned that lyft has more drivers than uber in this area if that is helpful to anyone. Things we loved: - the add on during booking was worth it (strawberries and champagne) - the kitchenette area is not tiny - I love the non slip floor in the bathroom and shower. The look of it and the functionality. please link me, I need this floor at home! - mattress comfy - very clean rooms, robes presented on beds very nice touch. - dimming lights Staff are nice and they have a little coffee breakfast nook with goodies by front desk as well. This location is very walkable to go get a burger or breakfast sandwich down the street too. Super bonus is the treasury restaurant inside the hotel through the safe door. We are suckers for history and a swanky atmosphere. I wouldn't want to park here - it is a tight lot. Even the Ubers and Lyfts have trouble getting in and out because it is narrow. Beautiful hotel, clean and glamorous. The staff was awesome, shout out to Steve and Jeff, super nice guys running valet and the shuttle. We didnt know they had a shuttle service which made things so much more convenient. My hubs coordinated with the hotel and they had our room decorated with rose petals and NA champagne, chocolate covered strawberries and a small cake in the fridge waiting for us. It was so cute! The only gripping we had was not having a closet to store our things for the weekend but other than that the room was great and our bed was extremely comfortable, like a nice toasty cloud. read more

If you're in a days drive of this hotel, reserve your room NOW, then thank me later!! I've been driving across the country for more than 2 weeks, staying in all sorts of hotels, lodges, timeshares, and this place beats them all. To begin with, it was recommended by AARP. Now I see why. It is an old bank built in 1908 and refurbished to be an upscale hotel. Management has taken great pains to make your stay enjoyable. The attention to detail blew me away. Everywhere you looked were their initials (HP). In the shiny marble floor and elevator doors to the robes, sticky pad, glass coffee mugs, and bottled water in your room. My reservation was through Expedia and came with a bottle of chilled champagne. The room was so impeccable clean that I almost forgot to do my "mattress bedbug check." Once I did, saw nothing...not even one hair in the entire room. The bathroom has wallpaper with history of the bank, and a wonderful waterfall shower head, a white bowl sink and washcloths shaped like roses. The amenities have not been forgotten. Unlike most other chains, there was an actual travel size body wash, shampoo, conditioner and lotion (that were top tier brand, Gilchrist & Soames) as well as a bar each of glycerin soap and facial soap. There were 3 large windows (with shades as well as darkening shades) to enjoy looking out; one in bathroom and two in the room itself. The bed was super comfy with charging ports and reading lights on both sides made into the headboard. The room also had a small sink, Keurig machine, coffee pods, glass coffee mugs, ice bucket, and neat refrigerator with two bottles of water chilled inside. Downstairs was check-in, bell hop, valet, a breakfast and coffee bar but the star of the show is the bank vault they've made into a bar and restaurant. Solo travelers like myself are made to sit at the bar to maximize occupancy. The food was good, but not great. The wait staff was exceptional. The only issue during my stay was parking. The valet spaces were few and taken, so I had to park in the bank parking lot across the street. This is definitely a destination not to be missed. Wished I could have stayed multiple days and gotten to see what the city had to offer. read more

The art deco design of this hotel is gorgeous. The building was built in 1918 and is beautifully restored. With only 90 rooms this hotel is quiet and quaint and centrally located which was great. One of the prettiest rooms we have had and very comfortable without a ridiculous price tag. The Treasury cocktail bar is worth visiting. The only hard part is parking. We had to park across the street in the Wells Fargo parking deck. I would definitely stay here again!! read more

Best place to stay in Sioux Falls. Best location, best style, great service, and frankly beats the socks off any of the other places that we could have picked. Rooms are unique, spacious, clean, with great views. Service is top notch. Facilities on site are great; plenty of places to meet with people, great fitness room, coffee shop is perfect (and priced comparably to anything around). Did I say location? 2 minute walk to all the active places downtown. Right next to the river walk. Ideal enough you could give up a rental car for the trip. Literally, perfect, in all the ways you can say. Overall cost; same as big name hotels, if not cheaper, and you just get a better stay. Face it, you've stayed in cookie cutter hotels all over the country, this is nearly a destination in an of itself. read more

This hotel was beautiful! My parents and I stayed here for one night and couldn't be happier with our experience. The front desk staff was great and the gentleman outside maintaining the parking lot was friendly and super willing to provide information and recommendations in the area. The room was super clean and had great decor. The hotel itself is in walking distance to most stuff downtown. They have free parking on site. Although I didn't stop there, they have a little cafe open in the morning in the lobby. I highly recommend Hotel on Phillips and would definitely stay here again if ever back in Bismarck. Very clean room, had everything as advertised. We stayed in the Blarney Stone Queen room. Bed was comfortable. Only complaint was the TV was advertised as a smart TV and the google chromecast option did not work at all so you were stuck with on demand or live TV but I didn't care too much as I was only staying the night. The restaurant attached to the hotel was amazing, I had the burger and it was one of the best I ever had. Also recommend the spinach dip. Location was perfect for walking around the downtown area. Very friendly/professional staff and exquisite decor. although we came here as part of our family vacation, if I had to travel to Sioux Falls on business, this is where I would like to stay (our suite included a desk) When we were planning out our trip to Yellowstone, we knew we would stay one night in Sioux Falls on our way back to Milwaukee. The trip wasn't just about Yellowstone it was also about the stops in between. At every stop we made a point to stay at a higher end locally owned hotel or a hotel of local significance. In Sioux Falls that hotel is the Hotel on Phillips. From the website: "Hotel On Phillips was originally built as the Sioux Falls National Bank in 1918 ... And at that time, it was the tallest building in South Dakota...In 2018, Hotel On Phillips began its restoration and transformation into an upscale chic boutique hotel (featuring 90 unique and elegant guest rooms along with many luxury suites)." When booking, I noticed all the rooms vary in color schemes and are decorated very well. We chose to book Peacock Suite. I love the color scheme and there was plenty of room for the four of us. We also had an amazing view of the Big Sioux River. It had a comfortable full size couch with a chaise lounge, A wet bar with a large clear-door refrigerator, and a large double-sink bathroom which included a seat, plenty of hooks on the wall, and a walk-in shower. THE BEDS ARE SUPER COMFORTABLE But don't think it was exorbitantly expensive - the total charge - with taxes and valet parking - for one night was $279.90. What an incredible and beautiful boutique hotel in downtown Sioux Falls! The location is absolutely perfect. Park your car and walk as you have access to incredible restaurants and shops. The rooms are absolutely gorgeous with comfortable beds, big showers and great products. They also have a great coffee shop and the workout room is far superior to most hotels. A great selection of weights, machines, and treadmills. The Treasury cocktail bar and restaurant is simply outstanding. Old school cocktails with a great vibe. Honestly, you can't go wrong. Swanky hotel blocks away from the main dining and shopping area. The rooms are nice with comfy beds. There is limited noise from outside but not enough to disturb a normal sleeper. My only complaint is that the bathrooms all have sliding doors which provide a bit less privacy. read more

I was in town from Sacramento, CA in January. I really wanted a spot to spoil my wife a little and give me very easy access to the downtown area that had a warm cozy well-appointed room at a decent price point. I was satisfied but I wouldn't say elated. Booking was done direct over cell phone and required a credit or debit card. I was quoted a weekend price of about 170$ nightly and a sunday night price of about 160$. I usually try to talk the person on the phone down outright because with a hotel room you can but I was on vacation and didn't feel like it. We ordered three nights in a single king-sized bed room, just short of the suites they have to offer, there are several different themed suites that didn't look corny if you are interested. The hotel is built in what used to be a bank, the vault has been made into a bar/ lounge/ restaurant, called the Treasury. This isn't some podunk tourist attraction. That bar gets busy, they sell craft cocktails, and the huge vault door, the room itself is really something to see. The lobby was pleasant, well decorated without being over-stated. There was typically an Argus Leader (the local paper) on the table in the middle in the morning if you wanted it. The counter service was really nice, maybe a little much due to them having to explain the room's bluetooth Amazon Alexa functions. Our room was on the 8th floor room, 808. This particular room featured a pattern on the carpet featuring gold highlights, a gold framed headboard, a very pleasant abstract painting with gold accents, gold-highlighted furniture, a couple of accent-style paintings had been added to the room by the decorator that looked like they were picked up at a garage sale, but they were gold in places, the accents on everything in the bathroom were gold. My least favorite thing was probably that the room looked like something from a casino's highroller suite. In Reno. The bed was really nice. Big and comfy. Perfect for a fun weekend keeping warm when not out in the snowy downtown. There was a fridge that was much larger than hotel fridges I am used to. It ran quiet and I appreciate that. There was a pretty large sturdy cabinet/ sink (outside the bathroom)/ bar-style counter by the door. Our room lacked a microwave. The towels were a little better than average. The room included two fancy-ish white terrycloth robes. Mine was about two sizes too small, which cracked me up. In their defense, I didn't ask for another, I am not big on "hotel robes". A close second on the dislikes was the fact that our room's door didn't fit properly and left about an inch of room at the bottom the silencing weather strip couldn't quite cover. This unfortunately resulted in our room sounding very clearly like whatever was happening in the hallway. I checked carefully on our way out and could not find a single other door on our floor as bad as ours (so I didn't reflect this in the review as it was really bad luck, also I didn't complain). Highlights: The view was spectacular!! The shower was pure bliss. The shower head in our room was huge and positioned over the chamber easily big enough for two or three people. The TV was bigger than average. The hotel at large outside and in is really beautiful. Lots of neat little things to find like the letter delivery system from a hundred years ago still in place. Cleaning staff was awesome. The location of this place is a huge deal and I found it perfect. A block from restaurants (Minervas!!), shops (Zandbroz!!), bars abound. There are sculptures all the way up and down downtown. If the hotel's wonderful little coffee shop or the vault doesn't do it for you for brunch, might I recommend the irish bar up the street? You are right next to the river and the river walk. Awesome barhopping spot. Parking looked tight but we found it easy enough. And there's a valet. Also: there's a gym we didn't check out. There's food in the vault, we didn't wind up trying. I had an old-fashoined at the end of a night which seemed serviceable. Thank you, Hotel on Phillips!! We really enjoyed our stay! read more

Beautiful hotel no doubt, but I must offer a little advice from 2 guests-my husband and I stayed 3 nights while visiting family... Pillows are way too THICK - neck ache style and no alternatives when requested. We treasure a good nights sleep. Housekeeping took one of the two robes and never replaced it. They didn't clean the old coffee from the coffee pot and didn't take the dirty coffee cup from the morning coffee. Bed wasn't straightened/made as is typical when paying full price for each night. A shoe polish cloth would have been nice - weather gets boots muddy and we weren't going to soil one of your white towels. Had to use a sock and return it home wet. No place to sit and work on the computer. Other than this it was a wonderful mattress and lovely shower, delicious coffee and a quiet room. read more

This place is a boutique gem in Sioux Falls. And like others I have to give it a five star because of the people who work there, especially Phil! He has such a great sense of humor and is so kind. I called earlier in the day to let them know we'd be checking in late and he said not a problem to just arrive safely. We were also able to have a late check out the next day no problem. The hotel used to be a bank and the lobby is so charming. But the rooms are so unique and you don't feel like you're in a renovated office. Love the tall ceilings in the room too. I have been working form home for almost a year and just needed to get out of the house! Booked a one night stay for my wife and I with the Romance Package. It did not disappoint. The room was perfect. Great views, the bed was comfortable, the description of the romance package was spot on and wonderful. We got take out from the Treasury, a whiskey bar and small plate joint in the lobby (got for the Pub Chips) and it was fantastic. The staff was all masked, very helpful, and knowledgeable about the hotel, local spots, and food and wine choices. We will be back and if you have not stayed here, you should! read more

This hotel is amazing I didn't know what to expect when it popped up in my search for a hotel, but we were pleasantly surprised. The building is over 100 years old and they've managed to keep most of the original style (1918) Our room was very nice. They have over 18 different room styles to choose from. And the floor to ceiling windows provided us with a gorgeous view of the city. Highly recommend!! If I were to have a complaint it would be the parking. The current lot is small, however there is still construction behind the building. So I imagine that situation will improve soon. read more

Good location downtown with great view of the river just above the falls. The falls are a short walk away. The interior lobby is sleek with the vault as a focal point. Unfortunately we were there on a Monday and the bar/restaurant were closed. We could view the bar from the vault door. Room was facing the sculpture street so interesting but quiet. Easy walk to shops, restaurants and bars. Room was nice sized as was bathroom. Nice shower, towels. Bed linens were very nice, soft. Room was dark, coffee pot in room with small refrigerator.
