Place is too cool for its own good. Mid-day there were not many diners, and staff left many booths unattended. Should have used that as my cue *not* to eat at Khab Thai, which is horribly overpriced. I know Oslo is an expensive city, but at almost $18, which I would expect at a nice restaurant, but instead got something no better than a microwave meal. The employee was socializing with two women at another booth across the way before bothering to come over to me. I knew something was up when he made me scan my card twice for the meal (and I was charged twice). Clearly, people who eat here are probably half drunk and never been to the parts of Asia that these booths claim to make food from. Hard pass. read more

Stopped at Zorbas and Kimchi. Both were great selections and gave us a break from the cruise food. The Zorba chicken plate was substantial and the fries were quite good but a bit pricey I would have to say. My husband ordered the Korean Fried Chicken (KFC). He said it wasn't spicy at all. Their red sauce is on the sweet side, almost like bbq sauce. Overall this food hall has something for everyone. It's a great gathering spot, very trendy. read more

We enjoy our take out Indian but the packaging needs a little improvement as the samosa and papadam were soggy once we get home. Maybe try to eat there? The beers were amazing! read more

I love food halls and this one especially. There was a lot to choose from although I was really there for the bar. There is a ton of seating available and this place feels like an underground art hangout spot. It's clearly a favorite spot based on how busy it was. First, be careful getting to this area. It's in the seedier part of Oslo. When we stopped to ask for directions the guy said "you know you're there when you see the drug addicts in the neighborhood". NOTE: I only tried the Pasta place in the entirety of the food hall, so my review is targeted for that restaurant/stall located in Oslo Street Food. Oslo Street Food is a pretty large food hall with a bunch of different food options from all over the world. Like most food halls, they've got tons of different restaurant places and food types to choose from. Also, like most food halls, this one was repurposed from a building that housed a public pool. It was pretty cool how they re-designed the pool area to become the lower level restaurant area of the whole place. I guess when it was still acting as a public pool for the community, it must have been a pretty deep pool. Because there are so many different options to eat around Oslo, and my sister and I only had so much stomach space and time to explore other places to eat around the city, we decided to just try the pasta restaurant at the food hall. It was also mainly because the pasta was prepared in a cheese wheel, and cheese wheel pasta was super hype on the gram at the time of our Norwegian vacation! We ordered a bowl of the truffle cheese pasta to share, and we saw the magic of the cheese wheel pasta preparation. The cook boiled up some fresh pasta and dumped the cooked noodles into their humungo cheese wheel. Some bubblin' hot tears of the Gods (pasta water) was added to help melt some more of the interior cheese wheel, and after a quick stir n' scrape of the sides of the cheese wheel, our pasta, along with the cheese sauce, was plopped into a bowl. A few shavings of freshly grated pharm and truffle was also sprinkled to the top to finish off the meal. We split our bowl after a taking a few snapperonis of the fresh pasta and we dug right in. The pasta was perfectly cooked al dente, however, the sauce was a little too creamy for my tastes, so I ended up being a little nauseated after eating just half of a normal portion. So I have no idea how I would have kept myself from popping chunks if I had ordered a whole bowl for myself! But I would still recommend trying them out, especially if the cheese wheel pasta experience is still riding the instagram hype train. Maybe a different flavor combination (something other than truffle) would have worked better to balance the extreme creaminess and cheesiness that comes from prepping pasta in a cheese wheel. read more

I've been here twice now and I already can't wait to come back. There is a huge variety of food and it's hard to decide which to choose. The first time I came, I chose Japanese food. The second time I came, I choose Filipino from Kain. Both were so good! I don't get good Asian food very often so these options were a welcome relief. There are a couple of bars where you can buy your drink separately. I always get beer. They also have cocktails. There is seating throughout the place around each food stand. The last time I went, it was a Monday night and it was crowded. Not "can't find a spot" crowded but almost that crowded. I will come back every time I'm in Oslo for the good food (I'll try to try other stands, but those two, especially Kain, were memorably delicious) and the variety of options with indecisive dining partners. read more

I ended up coming here a second day in a row. I had the tacos from el taco pastor this time round, and I got one of each - pork, chicken, veggie. The flavors were sharp and fresh. I chose vegan dumplings; my dad chose duck bao. Once we got seated outside and away from the earsplitting thumping music, we really enjoyed both. My dumplings were mushroom-stuffed and the accompanying salad was pickled and actually quite spicy (probably a ten on the ten scale for Norway). The bao was deep fried, which I've never seen before, but it was interesting and the duck itself was tasty. Not what I would call a traditional take on duck bao, but it never said it was! read more

Mainly Asian food places, but a couple burger places, a Greek place, crepe place, Hawaiian place and the one I went with, Viva la Pasta! They had homemade pasta that they cooked once I ordered. I fell in love with this place right away. You can pick and choose at your own liking and this is also great if you are with a bigger group, where usually some might tend to want something way different than whats being offered. Mind you it can get a bit crowded and loud. During lunch hours and out its usually super busy. Its close to where I work, so I often do lunch here or some beers after work. Location is really good and its super easy to get here from the city centre. There is public transportation right outside the doors as well and they do have wheelchair access. Very cool market with lots of options for eating and drinking. Somewhat annoying only one drink bar for the whole place and it can feel a bit crowded. The outside coliseum like seating is really nice though folks didn't seem to realize there is a zigzagging ramp subtly built in for strollers and wheelchairs until we rode up with our toddler. We loved the Thai, Japanese, and Mediterranean options. Lots of vegan and vegetarian options here. Fun place with a nice change of place sure to please everyone. This place has rapidly become one of my favourite places to eat in Oslo. At Oslo streetfood you can find 16 different food stalls from all around the world. Its perfect if you are a group. However, sometimes it can get really crowded! My favourite foodstalls are; Gohan, Tunco and Kain Rice Bar. Gohan serves delicious dishes from Japan. My favourite here is the Karaagedon and Okonomiyaki! Tunco serves delicious rice noodles from south-east Asia. The Ho Chi Minh dish is recommended! What is great here is one of my friends is allergic to gluten, but since its rice noodles, there are no problem with it! Kain Rice Bar serves food dishes from the Philiphines. On their menu you can find their national dish Adobo, chicken BBQ and they even serve lompias! What a cool place! On summer days the crowd spills out onto the sidewalk in front. Inside there are about 20 unique street food vendors. Each station is uniquely styled to reflect the local culture. Each station has about 5-8 dishes that all vary in price. Also they typically have demo plates set up or pictures so you can see what your getting. You pay at each station. I would recommend getting dishes from multiple vendors to try various things. To drink there are 2 bars with beer, wine, and soda. They also have free tap water. All the seating is shared tables. It does get busy so plan your time or divide and conquer. Each vendor lists allergy restrictions. When I went they had lots of vegan and vegetarian items. Bathrooms downstairs are a must see.
