They are very professional, try to get you in as soon as possible, and do great work (wife knee surgery, my trigger thumb/arthritis/spine injection). Now I am in for a potential meniscus tear. Everything they do is based on how far they can drag out the care and get money from you or your insurance company. They will have you come in for needless therapy that you can do at home. They actually gave us a foot doctor to look at my wife's hand. The doctor told us that he could do it a single thing because he worked on ankles then they proceeded to bill us for them doing nothing. The finance manager told us because they were billng our insurance for the visit we had to make a co-payment. I know several people who have the same complaints about billing and dragging out physical therapy. I say this with all seriousness this is legalized Mafia. read more

As an established patient with Dr Scott King I was scheduled to have my knees replaced which should of been done before becoming to the point of debilitating. I had to travel to NC to pick up the person who was going to help me through this. While being in NC my truck broke down which caused me to need to reschedule surgeries. Dr. King discharged me cuz of this. I was under the thought that doctors were compassionate people, wanting to help people. I am very wrong. I cannot speak for the entire OSS however as far as Dr. King and his team I am very disappointed in the lack of care, understanding and simple fact is this how they would like to be treated. if I could give this zero stars I would. I was referred over to dr. Elliot by another one of their doctors. I waited very patiently in their waiting room for over an hour and didn't speak to anyone after checking in. after being brought back to the room, I waited another 15 minutes or so. by this point my toddler was crying when the dr walked in. she quickly calmed down. he didn't even look at my hand which is why I was and just flat out said he wouldn't do surgery on me because I'm pregnant. no other remedies to get me through the next 7 months. so I started asking questions. guess that triggered him. "how about a local anesthetic?" I have patients who wait MONTHS for my service, I'm not rearranging my schedule for YOU-his answer. "I understand you said another cortisone shot may rupture my tendon, but what are the odds and percentages of this happening?" no-his answer. "but why?" he walked out on my. I was crying and that's when he said I was yelling at him. he didn't want to deal with a hormonal, crying pregnant woman so he made up some bs and got me removed from the practice all together. they said they had a witness of this encounter.... come to find out the "witness" was four hallways away and wouldnt have known if the floor fell through in my room let alone a conversation happening. read more

I have been going to different providers at OSS for several years now, and I can honestly say that my experiences here have all been positive. The doctors can be a little brief (and one was so talkative that I couldn't get a word in edgewise), but the staff are generally very attentive and do all they can to help you. The icing on the cake came this last Friday, August 9, when nurse Amy at the pain center helped me through a difficult procedure simply by putting her hand comfortingly on my shoulder while the doctor worked. They don't even deserve one star. Dr Curran saw me for 4 minutes and told me just stop doing anything that gives me pain. He left the room with nothing else. The nurse came back in and said "you are one of those people' and gave me a sheet of paper with exercises. I went to them for a sports injury and I was just looking for what was wrong with my upper calf. I didn't know if I tore a tendon or what happen. I then just rehabbed myself at home and two weeks later the pain was worse. I called OSS and figured maybe I could go back and get come answers, and the operator was so mean to me. She told me in her words "You don't have a bone injury so there is nothing we can do for you". This is my second bad experience with OSS. The first time they wouldn't help me with my elbow pain. I was in tears and so much pain. Later I come to find out from a nurse practitioner at a local urgent care, I had Lyme disease. OSS only cares for who they want to care for. I've been trying to find out what's wrong with my neck. I went in for self pay xrays and a mri which didn't show much because I was always in a neutral position. I went in for another xray that my chiropractor who was a former employee of OSS reccommended. I need an xray in flexion and extrension to determine if I have retrolesthesis. Dr. M denied me xrays and kicked me out of the office after I got verbal about his decision. I suffer from major depression disorder and borderline personality disorder as well as being a veteran of the air force and this is how they treated me this past Sunday. read more

Wife needed a Dr. for her shoulder, the Dr. we got was GREAT,, Helped her to recovery,, BUT their billing sucks, she was billed $400 to go to the facility,,, then got a Dr. bill for like $150 one time and $200 the other times, I understand the Dr. bills , they are not a problem, but each time she was billed $400 just to go the the facility for a Dr. visit was ridiculous. It was like 4-5 times just to go back for check up,,,each time $400 billed just to walk in to see the Dr . then get a Dr. bill on top of that. That was bad enough, then they lost one of my bills, Like $15.00, was never sent to us, I was lucky enough to call about another bill and found out,, I was told in 3 days they were going to have the bill sent to a billing agency for not being paid,, (($15.00) I NEVER GOT THE BILL!!!!!!!!$ I realize it does take time to get bills paid between Medicare and Medical insurance co. but to lose a bill and send me to a collection agency,," COME ON" Today it was explained to me why we have to pay $400 bill just to walk into the facility,,, it's a Dr. owned company and we are paying to go into the annex to see the Dr. so we have to pay for all the other people there working,,, + Dr. bill... Went to local urgent care after a fall slipping, took X-rays and the pain was so bad went to hospital ER the next day. Then family doctor referred me to orthopedic urgent Care in York who charged me $45 and did nothing because I had an appointment the next week. To everyone's surprise, I believe my family doctor was trying to help to possibly get me a shot or something. OSS answering service told me to come in for a severe concussion after a fall. They sent me back to have the doctors look at it and the doctor refused me service. They told me I did not need to checkout because they would not bill me. They sent me home. They ended up billing me and my insurance anyway. In my opinion, this hospital lacks any compassion or empathy towards their patients and sees them as nothing more than a meal ticket. From the doctors to the nurses to the staff, everyone I encountered was rude and unprofessional. First and foremost, the doctors at OSS Health were incredibly dismissive and showed no interest in properly treating their patients. It seemed as though they were just going through the motions and didn't care about the well-being of their patients. they showed a lack of concern and treated me like a burden. It was disheartening to see that they were more focused on making money rather than providing quality care. The nurses were just as bad, if not worse. They treated me as if I was just a number and not a human being. They did not take the time to listen to my concerns or address my needs, instead, they were more interested in getting me in and out as quickly as possible. It's clear that they were only concerned about the hospital's profits, rather than the patient's well-being. Even the staff at OSS Health were unpleasant and unhelpful. Their attitude towards patients was appalling and it was clear that they were only there for a paycheck. It's disgraceful that a medical facility would tolerate such behavior from their employees. My overall experience at OSS Health was horrific and I would caution anyone against going there. If you want to come out worse than you were before, then by all means, use this hospital. From my experience, it's clear that their main priority is money and not the health and well-being of their patients. I am so disappointed in OSS Health and their lack of professionalism and compassion towards their patients. I will be reporting my experience to the health department and the board of the medical department so that they can be properly investigated. It's my hope that this hospital will be held accountable for their actions and that they will make changes to improve the way they treat their patients. OSS Service - great - Billing?? terrible! I had to move after my MRI and office visit back in August 2018 - I got a call from a collection agency in January 2019 concerning my bill!! - no phone calls or emails from OSS, which had NOT changed at all - but the collection agency was able to find me to tell me my charges - which I promptly paid the medical bill - fast forward to October of 2019 - when I get ANOTHER call from a collection agency for the full amount! I call OSS, they FINALLY find the payment that was out there from January and apply it, but I STILL had to pay over $160 in financing charges because of OSS's AR department not contacting me - terrible accounting - totally not acceptable - hence this horrible review - read more

My insurance has paid over $150,000 to this group in my lifetime. I was referred for immediate after care after being seen in the emergency room. I was refused an appointment over a $36 balance. I am on disability with two children and do not have enough to pay day to day bills due to recovering from Covid job loss. I currently have two insurances so my visit would have been paid in full. Orthopedic Hospital - Horrible Experience. Medical Staff I went to see Dr. Furman for pain issues related to amputation. First, I underwent an injection into my back to see if steroids would help. I very nearly passed out on the table. It didn't work. Then I went for a spinal cord stimulator trial implant. It slipped out of place and I was taken back in for a second implant. It stayed in place for a day, slipped and was useless. Then I consulted with the surgeon, Dr. Patel, not Dr. Furman. I liked Dr. Patel, very straight forward, very direct. Dr. Patel disagreed with Dr. Furman's course of treatment. But between the two, they thought a basal root ganglia stimulator might be the next to try. Back on the table again. Dr. Furman couldn't place the electrode where it would do any good. Nearly 6 months later and I was back where I was when I first walked through the door. Dr. Furman wanted to go forward with a permanent implant even though we were never able to obtain the expected relief in any of the trials. The theory seemed to be that even though he was never able to correctly place a stimulator in any of the three previous attempts on the table, the fourth time would work. He is probably a very good doctor, well respected by his peers, and knowledgable. I simply had lost faith in Dr. Furman. Administration I was repeatedly called to set up medical and psychological clearances that had already been completed. When questioned, the staff who had called me had not seen my chart, did not know that I had already completed the necessary preliminary clearances, and were far more concerned that I remember to bring my co-pay than the quality of the medical record or the care I did not ultimately receive. It was clear that after numerous contacts with staff members, the right hand didn't know what the left hand was doing. I started to feel that this hospital was just a crazy scheme to make as much money as possible without regard to the quality of care. I canceled the permanent placement of the electrodes because I had just not attained the kind of relief I expected. Cost When the bill arrived, my portion, after insurance and after the $100 co-pays at nearly every visit, was about $1000. I was under the impression that the $100 that they came after with the energy of a mafia loan shark was my portion of the bill. Oh, no. OSS billed roughly $11,000 for "Medical Equipment/Supply" and another $4,000 for "Medical Care." This left me with a roughly $1000 balance for nothing. For $15,000, I left with no relief from pain, no confidence in their staff, nothing. I feel like they cut me up, put me through six months of torture, charged me $15,000, then sent me on my way exactly as I walked in. Well, not exactly, a scarred back and $15,000 lighter. They were nice enough to put me on a payment plan, so after 12 payments, I will NEVER have to deal with them ever again. Good Luck! read more

Federal government should place this Co. off limits to military retirees because of their deceptive practice of luring patients unwittingly by suggesting OSS is an Urgent Care Facility. OSS is a Specialty Clinic, thus most Tricare Insurance Co. will not authorize payments and military-retirees will have to pay "Out of Pocket." Don't fall prey to this deceitful advertisement! I can't Thank You enough OSS health at 1855 Powder Mill RD York, PA. On April 25, 2019 while on vacation, I had a huge scare(my shoulder froze) and you all were sooo kind to me. The receptionist saw that my bag of ice was completely melted and immediately gave me a new bag. AS I was a walk in, I was prepared to sit and wait. However, OSS moved me from the waiting room to x-ray, to consult, to diagnosis, to treatment very quickly. All done in about one hours time. The x-ray tech was gentle and The doctor was very professional and knowledgeable. I would have paid a million dollars for the pain to stop, however I was only too happy pay the 200.00 dollars and what a relief to find out the cause of my pain. Before actually helping or getting to the root of the problem they will pass you around to each of their specialists just to rack in the money. Their billing sucks and it took them a year to bill me for a surgery. I was just told that my MRI would cost 152.00 out of pocket. They billed my insurance company $3,349.00 for an MRI of the hip and told me that my portion was only going to be 152.00 due at time of service. My actual out of pocket is now 525.15 which is nowhere near the $152 they stated. I was mentioned to me that it may be a few dollars off. These doctors are not there to help, they are there to make money off of people in pain. Do yourself a favor and find another location to visit. I have now to date allowed them to fix my knee and my shoulder which took them sending me to specialist after specialist just to discover a bone spur seen on Xray. This facility robs people in pain, it is a rotating door of never-ending debt and billing that you will never understand. Shame on you OSS! read more

Two physical therapists, Justin & Ryan, (and their tech, Blu) worked with me for 6 weeks for my not-quite frozen shoulder. They were fantastic people to work with. My shoulder is very significantly better - time and additional training on my own should finish the job. Justin & Ryan invented several new therapies to get me back to my avocation. I've always been pleased with OSS' services. This was the first time I've been through physical therapy. Should I need physical therapy again, I wouldn't hesitate to go to OSS and I'd recommend Justin & Ryan. read more

Can't speak highly enough about this hospital and team of professionals! My boyfriend was injured at work and I took him to their urgent care for treatment. We were immediately sent to Dr. Christian, a foot and ankle specialist. He was so smart, down to earth, and able to answer every question my boyfriend and I had. Today was surgery day, and every person we encountered from reception to check out was so pleasant. The hospital is extremely nice and clean. Lots of seating areas for family and areas for cooked food or snacks. Staff kept me informed throughout the surgery. They work promptly, and they are thorough. Don't go to the branch in Mechanicsburg. The doctor I saw only wanted to tell me that I have arthritis in my knee. I injured my knee in February and am still having issues. It's not really any better after shots and mri. Now I get collection notice for balance of my bill which I was making payments. I even passed out in the reception hallway and they were only worried about me so I wouldn't sue them. I guess I will have to drive out of the area to get my knee fixed so I can use it properly. Wife had surgery with Dr. Patel that required an overnight stay to recover. Very pleased with facilities to include parking, on-site food, and room. Highly recommended for the one(s) supporting the patient. We were told that the doctors own this facility - if so it shows. Dr. Patel was recommended by wife's pain doctor ("my mom only goes to the best - she insists on Patel"). Recommendation seems to be well-founded. He has excellent bedside manners, patient and answers all questions. Left flowers (all the doctors there supposedly do this - wife thought it a nice touch). Wife still recovering from a major surgery (only been a week) but so far so good. Surgery was not cheap (to us) but like all medical procedures you should confirm your insurance covers what you need to have done. We did not shop around (wife trusted the recommendation) but judging from other comments I would check first with your insurance before coming here (or any other place). We have also used both the urgent care and regular facilities at OSS over the years. Service is quick, parking not an issue, and all of our issues (knees, carpal tunnel, nerve/spine) have been resolved in a timely manner. OSS does tend to be expensive (hence loses one star) and I have noticed that tests like MRI's, X-Rays, etc are much cheaper down in Maryland with our insurance. But then you are fighting traffic, waiting lines, uncaring staff, etc. So you do get what you pay for. read more

I left an earlier review that I would like to ammend, I failed to realize how short staffed our hospitals are due to covid, It is extremely hard to get nurses and doctors during this pandemic and I needed to realize that they are doing the best that they can while assisting the most patients . Oss has always been our preferred orthopedic hospital and we are extremely grateful to the excellent doctors and nurses that they have on board. In 2013 my wife and I literally moved from Savannah Georgia because my wife needed surgery on her shoulder and only trusted the orthopedic staff at OSS. I apologize for my earlier review and I need to mention that Dr lakatos is an excellent Dr if he wasn't then he would not have been as busy as he was when I was there. I highly recommend OSS. I have been here before and received the UPMOST of care and treatment by the entire facility. All payments were explained to the fullest of what my insurance paid and my out of pocket. The staff and doctor Ettiaime (sp) was superb! The first time I had surgery here he found the problem and relieved me of my pain I had for over 2 years when 3 other specialist could not. This Monday he repaired my damaged perineal nerve causing me drop foot and numbness. In less than 24 hours over 50 %feeling has come back to my leg and toes. I am walking around like normal in under 24 hours with minimal pain and without the use of my cane. I AM SO GREATFUL to Dr. Ettiame and his staff! I would also mentioned we drove 100 miles to get this great service and I would recommend this place 100%. read more

I am so very grateful to Dr. Margetas and the inpatient staff at the OSS Hospital for their meticulous care during and following my knee replacement surgery. I was simply amazed at the quality of care- no waiting for services needed, friendly and professional nurses and physician's assistants, physical therapists, cafeteria staff and custodians. I had surgery here at OSS twice this year and the staff, my physician and his team, care and cleanliness were outstanding.

Very disappointed in OSS. I took off work twice to go to two appointments with my 81 yo mother. First appointment we waited 40 minutes to be seen. Today we waited 50 minutes and decided to leave. Staff never told us Dr. Toro was running behind. Our time is valuable too. Called to get an idea of when we could expect a refund of the copay as we left w/o being seen. My call was shuffled around to 4 ppl and then disconnected. Extremely POOR service all around. Will not go back. read more

I want to start my review by noting I would absolutely not recommend going to OSS Health for any reason unless you are sure your insurance will cover their specific way of charging. I learned the hard way that a 20 minute doctors appointment can cost you 400 dollars our of pocket. I was looking for a sports medicine doctor; as a long distance runner, I tend to get IT band pain in my legs. I was hoping to go to a doctor that specialized in sports medicine to see if there was something wrong with the way I ran. When I called their office, I was assured they were a sports medicine clinic and they could pinpoint my problems. The York Roadrunners Association is associated with OSS, so I gave them a chance. When I first arrived, a nurse asked me what hurt, and I explained I get soreness in my legs from running, and I wonder if I am not landing right. I was hoping they could check out my stride to determine if I need to change something. They immediately sent me for X-Rays. I instantly questioned the nurse saying "I don't understand the need for an X-Ray, are you sure this is necessary." I was told the Doctor required them. So I went with her, and got the X-Rays, which now I know was a HUGE very COSTLY mistake. After I came back from the X-Ray (we are about 5 minutes into this visit) someone comes in and tells me everything looks fine. They spend 2 minutes looking at me, and the doctor spends another minute checking out my legs. Let's say for the sake of this review, we are up to 20 minutes total. I leave the office, no better, no worse, having no clue what was really wrong. But they cleared me and told me drop the miles by a little, and they also recommended physical therapy for a week or two. The issue resolved itself about a week later, so I never went back. One month later, I get an explanation of benefits from my insurance company showing I will owe 400 dollars. That is about 20 dollars a minute. I call the insurance company figuring it has to be a mistake, I have been to Wellspan doctors all my life and never had such a big bill. I was told that OSS treats themselves as a hospital, and they charge a "facility charge." Apparently, not only do you pay your doctor for your visit/ their time, but you also get to pay OSS for the privilege of being in their "specialized care facility" (their words on the phone). You are essentially being double billed. Once for the visit, second for their nice fancy place. Now I will LIKELY owe a doctor 400 dollars for 20 minutes of care ( I will update this review with exact figures). But I will make sure to let everyone I know about my experience. I guess it is what I bought for 400 dollars, advice for others. I am a huge runner, and a bit part of the community, and I will make sure EVERYONE is warned so they can make an informed decision. I never thought I would recommend a Wellspan facility, but at least with them, you don't get charged extra fees like this! Oh, and on the phone, I was told "we are not Wellspan, this is how we do business, we charge facility fees." read more

The nurses and doctors were great, however the billing department not so much. I called multiple times due to the insurance company needing things resubmitted.....when I'm told to wait and disregard the current bills. After calling three weeks in a row trying to find out if the last bill was submitted through insurance, I get a bill from a creditor where I now have to pay a $70 fee because I was told BY- OSS to disregard the bills that nothing is in colections. I don't mind paying what I owe, but I do mind being lied to and then charged extra! Will go to wellspan next time to avoid the run-around. read more
