However, this is a fundamental station with almost nothing inside. The station has very few stores and a coffee shop with pizzas and sandwiches available. Perfect for a quick meal or a cup of coffee while waiting for the train. The biggest problem with this station is they have very few chairs in the lobby area for the passengers to sit down and wait for their train. Trieste Centrale is clean, and the area looks safe. Many bus stops are in front of the station. Very easy to navigate inside the station.

We were delighted as when we went to buy our return tickets to Venice the smiling young lady spoke perfect English and was able to answer all our travel questions. When you buy tickets you have a window of train times you can take so it's not just jump on any train going your way. So just be alert. And the polite staff are fastidious about checking tickets aboard the train. It was an 100 mile each way journey to Venice Santa Lucia and back at an hour and 15 minutes each way - 15 euro each way per person - 2nd class. No first class offered but the scenic views were priceless. The Trieste station had a fairly big cafe serving a good range of reasonably priced food and drinks and the signage was easily read and followed. If you are more comfortable with technology then there are plenty of machines to buy tickets with a selection of languages available but we do prefer dealing with human beings especially as pleasant as the staff we encountered. It was a grand day out.

The hotel is decorated in a modern style. There are a couple of seating areas in the lobby/bar and breakfast is served just off the lobby in a large dining room. No restaurant service was available during our stay other than the breakfast buffet which included coffees from a machine or the lobby bar, teas, juices, breads, cold cuts & cheeses, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, a selection of torte, cereals, fresh and dried fruits. The room was clean with a couple of hooks on the wall for coats, a suitcase rack and work area. The closet contained a safe and mini-fridge. The bathroom had a shower stall only (no tub) and a sink with moderate size vanity, w/o a shelf to store toiletries. There was a stool stored under the sink, a hair dryer on the wall, the usual personal items and large, soft towels. No face towels. The bed was quite firm. No 'give' at all. The pillows are 'fiber fill'. Wi-fi and breakfast were included with our room. Paid parking is available off site at three locations. One underground garage offers a 10% discount to hotel guests, an open lot is available near the waterfront and valet service furthest from the hotel. The seating area near the bar is quite comfortable with a TV tuned to an Italian news station. Another TV is available in the breakfast room along with newspapers in the morning. In the evening the bar is open to guests for before or after dinner drinks and coffee.

You only get one and they haven't hanged it out in a few days now. Sometimes u don't want to leave it on the floorbifbita the only towel, but they are supposed to replace if left on floor. It's a cunnindrum I don't like to be in. Give me insurance by providing two freaking towels. I also had to change my room. The original room they put me in was really small. That aside the shower enclosure was so small I barely got through the door!! I'm not a small guy but damn I feel sorry for anyone in the 230+ weight range! Good luck getting in there!!! The best part of this place is the breakfast. It's great. Traditional Italian cured meats and cheeses, cappuccino juice and some hot stuff like bacon and eggs. There's some home made pastries that are real good too. Hate to give it three stars but damn that shower, it was a killer. Enough to have them change my room! You find mostly mom and pop names and little hotels. I decided I would give The Sam Hotel a try after finding it and booking it on Expedia. Some of the things I wanted were a reception desk that is open 24 hours and the basic hotel things. I was presently surprised of The Sam Hotel. It was nice and big and met most of my expectations. When you walk into The Sam its not the nicest entry way. They have a desk, a small computer area, and a little shop to get coffee. The women who work the front desk are nice. I would say that it says that they speak English and both the morning and night person do not speak very good English. Also the morning person is a little rude. The rooms are nice and pretty big. They come with beds where you have 1 bed, 2 beds or even 3 beds. It would be easy to accommodate if you had a big group. The bathrooms are big, but the shower is very small. I am a big guy an had a really hard time fitting in the shower. The toilet did have a bidet but I was too nervous to use it. I had never used one before. The hotel does offer breakfast but it is all sweet and no eggs, bacon, or anything like that. It is mostly bread products. They offer a wake up call which is nice. They will call cabs for you. They have an agreement with a cab company and that company does charge a little more than others. Overall this is a nice hotel. It is close to a grocery store, restaurants, and a bank. Its about a 10 minute drive to the airport and about 30 minutes to Trieste. It was a nice small little town. I am glad I stayed there and I would book this property again!

I arrived at Trieste port from the cruise ship, walked over the street, and saw the hotel that I will be staying at on the next day. I was very surprised that I will be moving my luggages from the ship over to the hotel with just a few steps. It was the most convenient move ever! The hotel itself was amazing! Beautiful, super clean, and the staffs here are so nice. Service is beyond my expectation. We arrived early. Matteo made every effort to get the room ready for me as fast as he can. He was so accommodating. Really appreciate this as we needed a place to rest. Breakfast was great! View of my cruise ship. Leunijt was amazing! He made sure customers are taken care of. I noticed another group appreciated him so much and showed him a token of appreciation. I would come back here again.
