I am back again after visiting here 2 years ago. The atmosphere is calming with jazz in the background and dimmed lighting. The food is fresh and still outstanding!!!! A large population of Germans cannot tolerate spicy dishes so If you enjoy a good spicy dinner just ask them to provide you a little extra minced chilly on the side to experience the full experience of fine Vietnamese dining. Whatever you order, the chef has a golden touch, which I think makes it very authentic.  Next time I come back to Berlin, I will be dining here again. You can not go wrong spending your money here!!!! When you come here don't forget to ask for Hoang Anh, he is very professional and his English is excellent. Don't forget to tip these guys, either. After wandering through the Checkpoint Charlie museum, this restaurant was a life saver because we were so hungry! The restaurant had some moody lighting, clean tables and two sets of menus (English and German). Food was good, my dish was a bit too salty for my liking. read more

I have a Asian stomach. I crave for my clear pho broth or some sort of broth when I haven't had any Asian food for awhile. This hits the spot pho-fillingly and especially on a cold night! They serve up sushi rolls too so it's Asian fusion here. Win for the pho broth well made here. read more

I went here my first night in Berlin. I got in late and this was near my hotel. I ordered some sushi and some pho (first time I've had that combo!) but each were quite good! They do only accept cash, no card! The service was good and prompt. The pho had good broth and a lot of beef and noodles. The sushi was good and the fish was quality. Have you ever had Indian food in Manchester? This is the Berliner equivalent of having Vietnamese in that style. The Pho tasted like a good Central European meat soup (really high marks for recreating that) but lacked tamarind, star anis, lime, etc to make it a dish of the Far East. Ah, and it was over-salted. The sushi (named Sake) had the right structure of rice and was well-prepared. However given the warm room temperature this dish was served at (only the fish inside, the wrapping was the right temperature) the experience was anything but exquisite Japanese. Imagine biting into a cool, crispy apple and then finding a warm squishy thing as you're chewing. Yes, exactly my thoughts!! Had a hankering for asian food whole in Berlin. This place was close by so we stopped in. We stared with both Spring and Summer rolls which were relatively good. I had the Bún Sài Gòn which was pretty good. Lots of flavor and a generous portion. My wife had the beef Pho which was a little lackluster. The broth was missing the depth of flavor you find in really good Pho. We also were missing the extra ingredients such as tripe and tendon. It was not bad, just not as good as we had hoped. We stopped here because we needed something other than German food. On a Friday at 8pm it was not too busy. Service was unremarkable. Beer: Dunkel Hefeweizen: interesting dark Hefeweizen. Pretty good. Vietnamese iced coffee: not very good, weak coffee flavor, not worth €3.90 Food: Crispy duck in mango sauce: that mango sauce was so delicious. A little pricey at €11.50 but otherwise I would want that mango sauce on other dishes it was so good. Salmon skin and eel maki rolls: cheap rolls, no frills, basic flavor. Fried rolls noodles: pretty good overall and a little spicy. Pho: I'm used to so many options with my pho like tripe and tendons. So someone else ordered this since I didn't want plain chicken or beef. They said it was pretty good. When you want to switch it up from sausages, based on these dishes, we were satisfied. read more

I was hesitant when I saw sushi on their menu, but it was Vietnamese restaurant... typically not very authentic. I was not wrong. I ordered two basic menu, chicken pho and spring rolls. It was little better than instant pho. The grilled chicken was so weird, it tasted like frozen meat they microwaved. Since we ordered a bottle of wine, I had stayed to just drink. I dropped in for a quick, light dinner and liked everything about the place. The server was very fast and pleasant, without even a raised eyebrow that I was ordering nothing more than a Coke & beef Pho. The atmosphere was perfect for conversation... I.e., not too loud. We went with some friends and tried the sushi and a chicken pho. The sushi is not really authentic - it is probably more suited to the German taste profile. We were disappointed with the pho which was a little bland. It was quite busy so our food took a long time to come out. I met up some friends who came over for a visit from home, and called in advance to book a table- they were very nice over the phone and when we got there, are table was resreved indeed, We were nine people in total, started with some fresh summer rolls - one with tofu and the rest had some chicken in them, they were really great On to the main courses - I had Yellow curry with chicken and sweet potatoes - can't say I liked to chicken too much, but I have enjoyed my dinner overall Also got to taste out of my friend's crispy duck which was absolutely great There were some other dishes on the table and everyone [except one person, who just doesn't like vietnamease food] were really satisfied When we were done we took some dessertes too and shared deep fried apples and bananas that were yummy! In the drinks section my choice of Pineapple, Mango Mint fruit shake was starring, and my friend who ordered "Otito Smile" cocktail seemed pleased as well Overall, Service was really nice and good value for money [I was expecting it would be a bit more pricy as it is located in Mitte, close to Stadtmitte station]. read more

This restaurant saved our lives on a Sunday night, when everything else around was closed - so make a note, lost tourists who thought Berlin was way busier than that: Otito's kitchen closes at 11pm! Yay! Food is quite good, even if we found the Phô (€6.50) a bit tasteless (no spices, no sauce - the soup basically tasted of freshly chopped chive). The Bun Bo (€7.50) was way better, we highly recommend it - and do not hesitate to splurge on nems as starters (€3.50), they are really worth it. Service is OK, quite rushy, even though I do understand that the fact that we showed up so late probably didn't help. They don't serve tap water and make you pay €2.50 for 0.2L of mineral water, which is not due to us though, and definitely contributed to make their note a 3 and not a 4. read more

Overall I think the food is reasonable compare to the Asian food I had during the trip. However I was very displeased at them charging me 4.4 euro for hot water. They claimed that the water were from a bottle not tap water. I really doubt that. read more

Yum, yum, and more YUM! We ate here twice during our recent trip to Berlin and the food was excellent both times. This restaurant has a lovely, family-run, relatively intimate feel, which was much appreciated given that we were new to the city. The vibe may seem "downscale" to some, but the non-assuming environment made me feel like I was back in Southeast Asia enjoying the food in a local, relaxed venue. The staff seem to enjoy what they do and it shows in the quality of both the food and the service. To top things off, the prices are very reasonable, so you really can't go wrong eating here (at least we didn't!). BOTTOM LINE: If you enjoy Vietnamese food, give Otito a try. Really solid food, surprisingly fresh and tasty. What else can one ask for for this price range? The place doesn't look fancy but the service was friendly and accommodating. Apart from the slightly tasteless chicken (which is often slightly dubious (=cheap and overcooked) in Asian restaurants in Germany but also the cheapest "meat" on their menus) everything was really fresh and tasty. No complaints. Mixed crowd. Lots of tourists seem to wander into the restaurant, probably due to its location close to check point Charly & Co. Definitely recommendable! read more

If you like to eat Viet food while the staff talks shit about you, this is your place! Door was open and it was opening time, so my bf and I came in, said hello, and asked for a table of 2. One staff pointed to a table, so we sat down at that table. Then, he complained in Vietnamese that we entered without permission. While we ate their ok-tasting food quietly, another staff said we were cheap for ordering only two main entrees. When we paid, they complained about breaking the bill. They must've thought I couldn't understand their language. This is supposed to be a cheap restaurant yet staff has such an elitist attitude. Good very inexpensive Thai fusion place in Mitte. Seems to have a very standard thai fusion menu plus sushi. Very affordable (ca. 6EUR per dish). Appetizers aren't very good here, but all the main dishes I've tried are very good. Service is friendly but this place gets VERY busy around mid day during work days (expect to wait). Place is on a very busy street, so sitting outside isn't so nice. Inside the atmosphere is minimal but okay. Expect like 20 euro for 2 meals 2 drinks and an app. read more

The service was so bad, long time before we got the menu's, long time to order, food came at different time, the sushi dishes were misding the small bolw's for the soya, again waiting on that. Then when we wanted to pay, they didn't come with the bill, and after 10-15 min's we went to the register and asked for the bill again, but then they didn't take credit card - and we are writing 2015 - oh my god. This unassuming place is rather special because of the huge jars of fermenting fruits, etc. along the counter, e.g. garlic Schnapps, sugared limes, etc. We didn't try any of this, but the dishes we had were delicious. We stayed close by to otito when we were in Berlin for a week, and although we didn't dine in there we grabbed some takeaway on a couple of nights when we couldn't be bothered going out. Takeaway from here wasn't a compromise on quality though- every dish I had from here was fresh, and the portions were huge (particularly given that everything we had was under 10 euro!). The staff didn't speak great English, but enough to get by and by the end I they even recognised us and just passed us the takeaway menu. Would definitely recommend. read more

Great food and inexpensive. The miso soup was very flavorful and larger than other places I have been to in Europe. The Hanoi rolls and vegetarian rolls tasted great and their potions were more than we expected. I had their sushi 7 special and an unagi roll while my wife had the vegetarian rice noodles with tofu. The noodles were cooked just right and the tofu was crispy on the outside and soft inside. Two reasons keeping me from giving it 5 stars. 1-they don't take credit card so make sure you have enough cash. 2-they didn't have tamago on the sushi menu. I was looking forward to trying it in Berlin to compare to Tokyo. I highly recommend the place and will go back next time I am in Berlin. read more
