Let me start with the bad but don't stop reading because I would stay again The bad. The pool area is dirty, full of weeds and is an eyesore. The room has a fan (a bit beaten up but works). The walls have old screw holes where things like towel racks and bars were replaced (it's not time consuming, difficult or expensive to fill the holes). Pool area chairs are cracked (a lot of them) and no sun beds. And in our unit the AC for the living room drop at night on the floor in the kitchen doorway. 1 bedroom light is out. Lastly the gates are rotting/rusting away. Lastly 1 dryer doesn't work and 2 washers and only 1 works and it's crap (falling apart and missing buttons but it did clean our stuff) So if all that bothers you this is the place for you Note to Otium. A little money spent and some TLC goes a long way However. My wife and I take 2 types of trips to Puerto Rico 1 long 10 day stays often in a group but we relax, see some sites and explore food but spend a lot of time in a larger, nicer house with a private private pool 2 a trip like this, 5 days max, quick stay with the intent to spend most of the days sightseeing so being in a smaller place like a small condo or apartment with a private community pool is fine What matters most is cleanliness and a complete fail by the pool but the pool itself is clean and the room is clean We have a tv, bathroom, kitchenette, bed as well as amenities like soap (hand and dish soap), shampoo, conditioner, body gel, toilet paper and paper towels so for the price we swim in a clean pool and live in a clean comfortable room near a lot of bars, restaurants and beaches so to satisfy our lower budget trips (money is spent on excursions vs living space) it's worth it to me to come again read more

I don't often do this, but I have to share my terrible experience staying with otiumrentals Airbnb in Puerto Rico. upon arrival to the building, we were rudely greeted by a broken security gate. After speaking to their customer service representative on the phone, we were told that a repairman would arrive in 15 minutes and to wait in our car. Not ideal after 8 hours of travel. this same individual then texted us 5 minutes later saying the repairman would arrive in 25 minutes. 60 minutes later and still no repairman, I called the customer service rep back. My call was screened and sent immediately to voicemail. 4 more calls, 4 more times sent to voicemail. Another 30 minutes go by and still no repairman. Finally, after deciding we were fed up with this, my partner sees a resident of the building enter with a key and politely asks if they could let us in. They say yes. they open the parking gate for us and we drive into the parking lot. The Airbnb's instructions are that we can park in any open spot, so we pull into the first spot we see. A different building resident sees us and tells us that unless we have a blue sticker, we will be towed. there's no mention of a blue sticker in the instructions, so we decide to ignore her and try to find our Airbnb. We finally locate it and walk in 2 hours after arriving by car. Still no sign of the gate repairman. fast forward to the following morning, and there's no running water in our otiumrentals Airbnb. This has become a total nightmare. We reach out to Otium to inform them that the Airbnb has become uninhabitable and that we'd like a refund. otiumrentals responds by only giving us a portion of our money back and to take it up with Airbnb. Now, 2 days later, we're in a hotel nearby feeling ripped off, poorly treated, and our trip ruined by @otiumrentals. for a large rental corporation, this is extremely poor form. You'd think they would recognize the miserable experience we had with empathy and at least give us a full refund. Instead, we're left battling with Airbnb for our money and a poor taste in our mouths. moral of the story is never rent a place from otiumrentals. They treat their customers poorly and have no sense for customer service. Rant over. read more

horrible!! we stayed in isla verde and wud never stay here again. two bathrooms only one works, they promise every day someone to come and fix it and nothing. poop on the floor they haven't cleaned. it is diagusting. they ignore the calls don't answer they are so awful. wud never ever ever recommend staying here. no Wi-Fi in the living room and the floors r disgusting. they do not clean here. awful. again wud highly recommend to never ever stay here!!! read more

Otium Rentals - Vacation Rental Agents Near Me

Review for Villa Playa rental unit managed by Otium. On their website, the unit is grossly misrepresented. It is sloppily painted with major design flaws (cramped kitchen with almost no counter space and tiny fridge with no freezer; narrow bathroom with no counter space, nowhere to hang anything, and an unfinished shower floor like you would find at a campsite). Upon arrival for a week-long stay, I found the unit was not stocked as promised nor thoroughly cleaned (hairs on the floor, dirty cook surface, water left in the coffee maker, debris on the shower floor, etc.). Several amenities listed on their website were not supplied for this unit, most notably "WiFi Speed 100+ Mbps" (either there was no internet at all, or the speed ranged from .5 to 4 Mbps which also affected the signal on the smart TV). The condition of the shared Laundry Room was appalling. The unit sits on a street strewn with garbage, noisy neighbors, barking dogs and feral cats. The neighborhood outside the rusty gate is mostly comprised of dive bars, fast food restaurants and boarded up buildings covered with graffiti. In this area, I would not feel safe going out at night. The rental unit at Villa Playa was not worth what I was charged for it. I paid a significant penalty for booking early (paid in advance, as required) as the prices later dropped dramatically for the same unit and time period. As I expected to stay in a rental unit as represented on the their website, Otium agreed to compensate me for the disappointing experience and inconvenience. However, they have failed to do so for a stay which occurred over a six weeks ago. Not surprising, as most communication with this firm resulted in empty promises. When renting from a local property management company, visitors expect to get what they paid for from a team which resolves issues in a timely and professional manner. This was not my experience with Otium Rentals, so I strongly recommend looking elsewhere for accommodation. read more

Company confirmed my reservation on 1/29/25 and then two days before my trip on 2/6/25 they told me they had to cancel it. The reason they gave was unexpected maintenance but I believe they double booked. I tried to reason with them that the replacement they offered was half the size, no beach access and a much smaller pool surrounded by walls. They did nothing to try and fix the issue but canceled in Airbnb leaving me two days to try and find accommodations. read more

We picked the Perfect Family condo in Rio Grande. Expecting a full kitchen We stopped at a local grocery store on our way from the airport to pick up supplies for the week. We arrived at the condo to a broken stove. I'm not going to write the 7 conversations we had with Otium staff about continued promises to fix it, every day. However I will say it never got fixed. We stayed 5 days with no way to cook the food we bought. Now no biggie except this meant we had to eat out costing us an additional $300-ish dollars on top of the $125 we spent at the grocery store.. In addition the internet was broken in our unit as the provider said there had been no reported issues anywhere else, and the 2 bathrooms downstairs where the bedrooms are had broken showers. One was a clogged drain that flooded the master bedroom and the other shower had a broken shower head that fel off and hit my wife in the head. Now it did take 2 days but they did fix one of the 2 broken bathrooms. Yeah they only felt like fixing one I guess, no clue on that.. The staff member Mary was extremely unhelpful, lets face it when a couple is on their wedding anniversary and your staff has a women in tears on the phone you failed at your job.. We begged day 2 of 5 for a transfer to another location or our money back. They refused both request. So we spent 4 nights and 5 days with a broken bathtub, no internet and a broken stove. THANK YOU FOR MAKING THE STAY WONDERFUL. We did after 3 days of asking get a member of management who did eventually refund half our stay which is a joke. The refund they issued me doesn't cove the cost of food we incurred as a result of the broken stove. So they really didn't do much. I honestly feel I should have received a full refund of the food purchased plus half off as all they provided was a bed and a parking spot really. I've traveled the world and have never dealt with a company that is not competent enough to ensure a unit is ready to be rented before doing so. We stayed in Ocean Park Puerto Rico and rented from Otium. The unit had multiple holes in the walls, the pool was not cleaned and you could not swim in it. The outdoor bathrooms had urine and dirt in them. We sent a number of emails to the company and no action were taken. Please do not stay there. They are listed with VRBO and Airbnb. read more
