My three-year-old has been in Ms. Manuel's class for one week, and I can confidently say this is the best school he has attended. Our Savior Lutheran Church was founded in Plantation, Fl in 1961. In 1963, a school serving 18 months old up to 8th grade opened. The church is served by Pastor Tony Durante who took over as pastor in 2018. I stopped in for a tag school the church was having on a Saturday morning and met some of the congregation while shopping. I was trying to get play, craft, and educational items for my summer special needs classroom and for the regular school year on a limited budget. I mentioned what I was looking for and why to one of the volunteers and the next thing I knew an employee of the school approached me and insisted on helping me. She instructed the cashiers to give me an additional discount She also gave me free glue which we used to make slime on the last day. I ended up getting an entire box of great things for the kids for $20. I work with kids of all abilities and there was the perfect something for everyone. As I was leaving a gentleman from the church approached me in the parking lot and insisted on paying for the box. He would not take no for an answer. I'm sorry I can't recall your name but thank you so much sir. Your spirit of giving touched my soul and this week I paid your kindness forward. I can't say enough great things about this church. They are the real deal. Their generosity enabled me to give special needs children in a Title I school extra fun this summer and they will continue to enjoy using these materials throughout the school year. Review of Our Savior Lutheran School - Plantation FL Our family enrolled at Our Savior Lutheran School hoping for a nurturing, values-based environment that would support both academic growth and children's individual needs. Unfortunately, our experience raised significant concerns--particularly for families with children who have learning differences, ADHD, or emotional regulation challenges. The school does not provide accommodations for disabilities and appears, at a philosophical level, not to recognize learning disabilities or neurodiversity as valid frameworks. The prevailing belief is that children with learning or neurodevelopmental differences should simply be "pushed harder" to reach their full potential, rather than supported through accommodations or evidence-based interventions. For example, when discussing dysgraphia, the assistant principal stated directly that speech-to-text accommodations would not be allowed, explaining: "If it were my child, I would make them do as much handwriting as possible because they will need to handwrite in high school." This approach reflects a fundamental misunderstanding of disabilities and the role of accommodations, which exist to provide access to learning--not to reduce expectations. ADHD is similarly misunderstood and is often treated primarily as a behavior problem rather than a neurological difference. Children with ADHD are frequently labeled as troublemakers, and families are pressured to medicate children to make them more manageable, rather than the school adapting instructional strategies or supporting regulation skills. Emotional regulation difficulties are routinely interpreted as defiance rather than distress. I personally witnessed a third-grade teacher yelling at a visibly upset and emotionally dysregulated child who was crying and clearly needed calm support and assistance with regulation. There was no effort to help the child feel safe or supported--only reprimand. Bullying is another concern. There appears to be a significant amount of peer bullying, yet the school does not consistently prioritize prevention or intervention. Families may find that bullying concerns are minimized rather than actively addressed. Academically, the school places a strong emphasis on compliance and behavior management. There is little differentiation for students who are advanced. For example, children who excel in math are not offered enrichment, breakout groups, or advanced instruction, which can result in capable students being held back rather than challenged. Communication with parents is limited, and collaboration is not strongly encouraged. Instruction is not tailored to individual learners, and there is a firm belief that teachers are the ultimate authority in the classroom. Administration does not meaningfully guide or redirect teachers, even when concerns are raised. While the principal was kind, polite, and collaborative in conversations, very little changed in practice. Ultimately, families are expected to adapt to the school's way of doing things, rather than the school adapting to the needs of individual children. The religious curriculum is very conservative. Children are taught that certain television shows are ungodly, and religious teachings include messages such as childbirth pain being framed as a punishment of women. Religious beliefs are presented as firm truths rather than explored through discussion, and these beliefs influence classroom instruction and disciplinary approaches. There are some individual teachers who are caring and well-intentioned. However, the overall philosophy of the school is rigid and traditional, with limited openness to modern, research-informed educational practices. This school may be a good fit for families seeking a highly conservative religious education for children who are typical learners--children who are able to sit quietly, follow instructions, regulate their emotions independently, and meet expectations without accommodations. It is not a good fit for children with special needs, neurodivergent learners, emotionally sensitive children, or families who are still in the process of identifying whether their young child may need additional support. The school does not appear well-equipped--or particularly interested--in recognizing or addressing learning differences or neurodiversity. read more

My daughter went here for VPK, pre k 4. Her teacher was mrs. Thomas and her assistant was mrs. Zenchak ( I hope I spelled that right) they are awesome! Everyone there is so friendly and it's a Christian based school. They hold plays, and events for the kids in the chapel and it's really nice. The front office staff can be somewhat rude sometimes. They have camp for kids in the summer as well. The kids do wear uniforms, and I felt it was a bit pricey. I got my daughter 2 sets. It's just a simple gray shirt and blue shirts. For the set I believe we paid almost $40 bucks. My husband took our daughter to school and a parent whose child used to Be in pre k handed him her kids old uniform. That was nice! So we she got 2 extra sets. I would have lived for her to stay for kindergarten, but the prices are outrageous! But I heard they have some type of financial assistance. I tried finding it on their site but gave up. School was from 8:15-11-45. There was a fee if you wanted your child to stay until 2:45. I highly recommend this school. read more

A few years ago our son went to this pre school. He is adopted and had some pre adoption trauma . School was aware. Nothing major. He was in the 2 year old program for a year without a issue. Then came a new class at the start of the following year. After they bragged about their 3 year old teaching program and the "teacher" with 25 years experience they literally asked us to leave the school after only 4 tries in the class in which all he did was cry. Yes, this is correct, i religious school to boot. The principal whose own child just adopted a baby called us into her office and simply said, with no emotion, we would like you to leave this school and we aren't a good match. Makes you wonder what religion they practice and where their heart is . The next school our son attended , with in a year, he was honored as student of the year and he excelled . Since then I've always wanted to bring light to this story . I truly didn't think this was a racial incident but perhaps I am naive. This disgusting behavior by the staff is also a violation of the American with disabilities act (ADA) and most churches don't have to comply . I sought counsel and lesson learned . The buildings and playground are as old and decrepit as their way of thinking. read more

My wife and I attended the Good Friday Service at Our Savior Lutheran Church today and we really enjoyed our time there. Pastor Volz delivered a most meaningful sermon and Pastor Kirkman also made the service a meaningful celebration. The music and the bell choir were excellent. Looking forward to attending on Easter Sunday as well. read more
