Avocado summer rolls
Helena Z.

We actually got their food at the Hilo Farmers Market but it was so good I wanted to leave a review! Everything is made to order, and you can see them doing it in their truck. At first the avocado looked a little light in the summer rolls but as you continue to eat to, you'll notice it's actually there throughout the whole roll, just not as apparent as in that first bite. Even thought the rolls are light, they are quite large and filling. The nutty dipping sauce goes perfectly too. The green papaya salad was definitely quite spicy, so if you don't have a high spice tolerance make sure to get a lower level than you expect. Still, even though it was so painful to eat, it was SO good! We decided to get peanuts with it which I thought was a great addition because while I'm sure getting the salad alone is good too, they give you a LOT so the peanuts were nice to break up the texture and flavor. Would say both dishes are definitely worth getting!

The green papaya salad was refreshing and yummy, amazing for a hot sunny day. I got mild because I don't do spicy food and it was perfect. The spring rolls (avocado and tofu) was also delish!

Mango Sticky Rice, Papaya Salad w/ Mixed Nuts & Avocado, Warm Sticky Rice, Pumpkin Curry w/ Chicken, Avocado Summer Rolls w/ Peanut Sauce

One of the best Thai Spots on the Big Island! The yumminess that is pumped out of this small food trailer is amazing. The pumpkin curry with chicken is so tasty and pairs perfectly with the warm sticky rice. Its the bomb! The papaya salad is very delicious and refreshing (you have the option to choose your spice level and she preps it right in front of you). The summer rolls are delicate and fresh as well, the peanut sauce is one of the best I've ever had. The thai tea is cold and perfect to cool you off on the beautiful days in Hawaii (she also gives you the option to choose from regular milk or coconut milk at no extra charge)... and when available, they have sweet treats like sweetened sticky rice with fresh mango and coconut milk. My family loves the magic that comes from Ou's Thai Food!

Mango Sticky Rice

Freshly made green papaya salad with peanuts and mango sticky rice. The small food stand is operated by two sisters just immigrant from Thailand. And it's next to the Farmer's Market Kitchen shaved ice. Great value $6 for the papaya salad. Definitely got my island taste now.

TLDR - the staff are very nice and this place is very convenient when visiting the area, but I know…read moreI'll never come back. The food was tasteless and I don't appreciate when places try to get a double tip. Food options around the area are very limited, but I encourage tourists to take a chance and explore further. This place is a great convenience for people visiting Hawaii's Volcano National Parks and are starving after a long day of sightseeing. Unfortunately, I was very let down considering the great reviews it has online. This is a food truck, so as expected, the parking is extremely limited and there are only two picnic tables available if you choose to sit down and eat. The area is nice if you don't mind eating outdoors. When I went, there were only 2 people working in the truck. They were extremely nice and did warn us about waiting times. There was a long line of people so we had to wait about 25mins for our food. Honestly, this is not inherently a problem, but be ready to wait if it's busy. Now for the food and the reason I'm giving this place a low rating. I was allowed to mix the carnitas tacos and the chicken taco plate given that they're all the same price. The chicken had a nice spice to it, but every item on the dish was very bland. The rice felt dry, the refried beans felt like they were straight out of a can, and it could have all used some salt. But the big nono was that it appears they included a tip in their total before handing the machine over to you to add a tip and pay. Unless you tell me Hawaii's tax is close to 20% (which I know it's not), I find it very disrespectful when businesses do this to their customers.

Food takes a while, as they're just two people running the cart! I liked the birria tacos the most…read more The couple was so kind.
