A few months back my VW van over heated on me and died on me on my way to Panorama, so I needed to…read morehave it towed to a shop so I called around and asked places If they worked on old Volkswagens and Vince said he could. I brought it in and he he said that the smoking from my engine was probably a shorted wire (I should have just left as soon as he said that) and maybe the head gaskets had gone. When I got it back (which took a while) he had changed some wires, a sensor and an oil cooling coil and never made mention of the gaskets again. I drove not even 2 km down the road and it died on me again so I called him up and he told me to bring it back in. The second time he claimed that it was the throttle body and said it died because the engine was running two rich and it messed up the oil pressure. I called a VW mechanic I knew back home and told him the situation and said it was not impossible but that it sounded much more like a head gasket but with out looking he couldn't say. After another 2 weeks I got the van back with a rebuilt throttle body and a few new coolant hoses. It had troubles starting that It had never had but It ran. I drove back up to Pano and sure enough by the time I get there my temp light was going nuts, smoke pouring out the back and my oil pressure light and warning alarm all yelling at me. The exact same thing I brought it in to him for. I called him, and as you can imagine I was furious, I told him that he never fixed the problem and his response was "It runs now, when you brought it back It wouldn't start. It's an old engine there are lots of problems." and then said to bring it back. But seeing as by this time he had it for a month, had charged me just under $1200 (would have been more if I hadn't caught the random extras he tried to charge me!), and hadn't fixed a thing, I did not do that. I had it towed to the Volkswagen dealer service shop in Cranbrook, explained everything to them and the first response was "Nothing he did makes any sense at all. He went about it completely wrong). They Looked at the Head gaskets and said the internal engine components were so over heated they had turned blue and probably were all warped. They sent the gaskets to a machine shop and confirmed this and recommended a whole new engine. They said that there was NO coolant in the van and that I had been driving around like that. In the end they fixed it because this guy has no idea what the hell he is doing. One of my friends had an oil change here in is new Ford, and a few weeks later drove to Calgary. While he was there his oil light came and the car wouldn't start. He took it to a dealership and they said it was just a faulty oil filter. I do not recommend any one goes here for anything no matter how small. He has no clue what he is doing and had terrible communication through out the entire process. In the words some one else who has dealt with him "I wouldn't trust that guy to pour me a coffee".

Spruce Grove RV Resort

Spruce Grove RV Resort

We have stayed at the Spruce Grove RV Campground a few times and have been DISAPPOINTED EVERY TIME…read more No more. They have an inadequate amount of washroom and shower facilities. In the five years we've come, nothing has been upgraded or fixed. All of the doors on the stalls in the ladies room need work or replacing. You can hardly stand to be in the pit toilets at the other end of the campground. WORST OF ALL - This Campground does not enforce rules about quiet time. WE HAVE NEVER SEEN IT PATROLLED. When we've called in the past, we've just gotten a answering machine. This past week we stayed thinking we would give it one more chance. We were near the large group renting site - a BIG problem in the past, but since our trip started mid week, there was no one there. On Friday, we came back to our site at 10 pm to find 12-13 units in the site. The occupants were loud and were obviously gathered for a party (we heard talk of a wedding). We expected some noise, but these campers continued until well after 5AM to play music and talk loud enough we could follow their entire conversation. At one point, it also sounded like they were setting off fire crackers - under a province wide fire ban. A camper in a nearby site (not in the group site) also ran his generator until 11:30 pm. We've learned our lesson - we won't spend our money ANYWHERE at this resort again. We've also told many friends looking for camping in the area this was an "adequate option" - not anymore - we'll be steering our friends elsewhere from now on.

Not only guessed wrong and did something that doesn't make any sense now that I know but what they did was in contravention of the motor vehicle act, making my vehicle illegal to be on the road! (punched out the catalytic converter) Charged me over $900, 6 hours on the hoist and when my vehicle broke down again 20 minutes out of the shop ruining my vacation, the mechanic told me the next steps I should do, none of which had anything to do with a fault reader nor any that would have affected the problem. They apparently don't have a fault reader at the shop?? and their manager said they don't actually work on motorhomes! Took the vehicle to my own mechanic after limping home from my holidays - he connected the fault reader in under 5 minutes knew exactly what to do about the 4 faults that came up, replaced the $40 part (throttle position sensor), removed the rat's nest from on top of the engine and the two chewed vacuum hoses, charged me $150 and fixed the problem. All 4 fault codes disappeared, no further problems. No apology from Columbia Diesel, nor compensation for my lost time and hassle, which were plenty, although they did replace the part they ruined and returned my funds for the inappropriate work they did. Head's up!

Dented Paintless Repairs - Condensation buildup from hail damage

Dented Paintless Repairs

I would never recommend Dented to anyone after the experience I had…read more Following a severe hailstorm, my headlight completely failed. The housing filled with condensation and the entire headlight system stopped working low beam, high beam, turn signal, parking light, DRL all gone. I made it clear from the start that there was no visible crack, just internal failure, which Dented's own tech confirmed can happen from hail. That should have been enough. Instead, I was told the repair would be approved. Based on that, I canceled my dealership appointment at Mercedes Lonestar and waited. A full week went by with no communication. Then suddenly, I was told by Toniko, a decision-maker not even based in Calgary, that my headlight repair was denied because "there was no visible damage" and "it didn't seem likely hail caused it." Let me be clear that wasn't just a poor decision, it was a judgment call that questioned my honesty. I had been transparent about the details from day one. For Dented to suggest the damage wasn't consistent with hail despite every symptom lining up, and despite TD Insurance being fully prepared to cover it felt like a slap in the face. Worse still, Dented refused to even submit an estimate for the headlight to TD. That's the only reason the claim was shut down. Logan at Dented confirmed the part needed replacing and just needed photos, but apparently even that wasn't enough to move things forward within their own team. As a result, I wasted two weeks, canceled and rebooked service appointments, and I'm now paying out of pocket to fix something that was absolutely related to hail damage. The communication breakdown, the delays, the refusal to act, and the unspoken accusation that I misrepresented what happened it was completely unacceptable. If you value your time, your money, and your integrity do not use Dented.
