Reel Teaser II Sport Fishing Charters

Sunday Funday? You bet! My husband and I, along with my in-laws, just spent our Sunday catching…read morefish with Captain Mitch of Reel Teaser II in Manistee, MI! I am hooked! As a first timer, I was enamored with the magnitude of available charters and was nervous about picking the right one! Thankfully we received glowing recommendations for Real Teaser and I now know why. Captain Mitch and First Mate Dave worked incredibly hard to ensure we had the best outing. Within minutes of leaving the dock, five salmon took the bait and the boat swung in to action. Reeling in my first fish was exciting and way more difficult than I had anticipated! Thankfully, Dave was in the trenches showing me how to wear the feisty fish out and properly reel him in! It was an adrenaline rush catching one after the other! Reel Teaser worked hard to ensure we caught what we could, constantly switching out bait, traveling to different depths at various speeds. We had a great time and the 16 Salmon were just a sprinkle on the Sundae! I am already planning another trip with them in August! If you are interested in trying it out, I couldn't give a higher recommendation to Reel Teaser II!

There’s a toilet on board for your convenience. Your captain will provide rods and reels, as well as lures. There will be a First Mate on board to help your trip run smoothly. Mates work hard to make your trip count, so a tip is customary. You need to get a Michigan fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Young ones are welcome, so feel free to make a family day out of it! Children must wear life vests, so find out if the appropriate size is available on board. Some essentials to bring are snacks, drinks, sunglasses, sunblock (non-spray), warm clothes, and a hat. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but you should avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. Go ahead and treat yourself to a day on the water with Reel Teaser II Charters.

I can't say enough about Jim and his team at Arcadia Marine. Over a holiday weekend (Fourth of…read moreJuly) my wife and I experienced significant engine trouble on a trip from Northern Michigan and ended up limping into Frankfort on one engine. Many phone calls were made to look for repairs. Due to the holiday weekend there were no available technicians until after the holiday (3 full days)....Until I got ahold of Jim.... He was very honest about not being a diesel tech but would be happy to look at boat. Jim came out ON the Fourth July to diagnose the issue. He was able to identify the issue and with the help of a diesel expert they were confident they could perform the repair. Jim moved the boat (on one engine) down from Frankfort to his Marina in Arcadia and tied it up in is ONLY hoist well. Jim and his team (Peter and Art) worked on the boat tirelessly....14+ hours a day. He kept me in the loop during the whole project. The boat was ready two days after the 4th. My wife and finished up our boat trip back to Grand Haven with a perfectly running boat. Jim's team took pride in all aspects of their work, not only the actual repair but they kept our boat protected and clean through this extremely messy repair.....lots of oil and engine coolant involved. Again, Jim and his team at Arcadia Marine are professional, personable, and a dedicated team. You will not go wrong with this group. Thanks Again for the professional service!!!!

The absolutely adorable Naomi was ever so helpful with all of my inane questions! :-) The rates are extremely reasonable $60 per night for a cabin that slept 4...perfect! Now Ivan's does canoeing, but us ladies were tubing it, so we did not use Ivan's fleet of vehicles to get us to and from the river, but they were there... The cabins were clean, for camping cabins, so no complaints there... My one downer note for the weekend was that the cabins are placed along the front of the campsite, which sits right on M-37, so as we tried to enjoy ourselves at our campfire, we also had to fight the sound of constant traffic too...it got kind of annoying after the seventh semi flew by...there's also an ambulance station about a mile north...and you guessed it...lot's-O-ambulances too.... So...in all reality, I'd probably not stay at Ivan's again...but I'd reccommend them in a heart beat!

If it was me, I would do a few things: get a larger ice cooler (or a second one), invest in wifi/cable that works better, and add some more potties. There are a lot of people with not many bathrooms. Otherwise no complaints, see you next year.

It ended up being out in the middle of nowhere, in the Manistee National Forest. This ended up being a great location due to where it was and the size of the campground. We could drive to most places within 25 minutes or so and then come back to this nice, tucked away campground. I received text messages almost daily while there with what was going on. I would have been ok with not receiving these as I received the agenda upon check in and had a list of everything. Easy to follow signs lead you back into the forest to find the KOA as well. Full hook up site that was nearly level and required little work to set up which was nice. They also had a dog park. Our dog thoroughly enjoyed the random A frame structure that was in the park. It was kind of overgrown in the dog park area and the bugs were so bad-that time of year for the bugs. There were plenty of activities if you had little ones and there was also a pool that looked quite nice. They had these fun Yurt/tent type places you could also have paid to stay at as well. Everyone working was very friendly and helpful. Also, they randomly sold beer and wine, but not on Sundays. First KOA that I've ever been to that did that!
